I spent ages last night trying to think of this thread title.

🤣🤣🤣

Best wishes to Finlay poor little soul he has had such a tough time and was so enjoying getting out and about.

Papergirl1968 · 19/11/2024 12:31

Still struggling to get meds into him but he did a little wee, Shell. I suspect he’s still sore and he looks like he is straining a bit.
He is sending healing thoughts to Finlay ❤️

Breadcat24 · 19/11/2024 13:01

@Papergirl1968 did he at least enjoy the cheese spread?

Breadcat24 · 19/11/2024 13:12

The excellent cat owners ought to get together and set up a business selling premade ham pockets to put tablets in

RumNotRun · 19/11/2024 15:23

I am seatless and blanketless.

Great idea!
I haven’t managed to get any cheese spread yet.

This is a protest because you went on holiday.

Well now, y'all may remember that Gizmo was very keen to get into the bathroom, for nefarious purposes of his own.

I was getting ready to have a shower last night, and discovered the Broon One perched here. He was trying to see if he could get out of the window. (Clue: he couldn't, because he's too fat)

@TheShellBeach I've just come upstairs instead to my big heated blanket and comfortable bed, and Raven. The 3 seat stealers can protest all they want but that just means they can't share my heated blanket. Evil laugh

TheShellBeach · 19/11/2024 15:33

Then he sits on the window ledge disturbing all the dust I can't reach

It goes without saying that he declined to get down, so I had to wake Mr SB up, and he got a pole and pushed Gizmo off.

It also goes without saying that there was a good deal of growling and hissing during the eviction.

🤣

@TheShellBeach could you not consider him to be a furry duster. Say "Picard" to him to make him lash his tail.
Breadcat is sad because we have 3" of snow and she only has 2.5" leg clearance to her belly

learieonthewildmoor · 19/11/2024 15:48

He is such a beautiful cat. He was clearly planning to stay in there and then methodically knock everything from their places.

I was doing important training of Cat Four, teaching her to snuggle in bed. It was going terrifically well - she went down under the cover and started purring. Next thing I know DH has come in and taken her back to the kitten room! Going on about not having a kitten jumping all over him with razor sharp claws while trying to sleep.
Luckily for me, the temperature has dropped to 10 degrees C, and Cat One has taken up position next to me.

TheShellBeach · 19/11/2024 16:21

Mr SB and I spent the whole afternoon tidying up the walk-in cupboard.

We had to eject Linney and Gizmo because every time we moved any cat food, they came running, looking hopeful.

Also, Gizmo just can't resist getting under our feet and tripping us up. So we booted both cats into the garden.

Cue outraged hissing from Guess Who....

The poor girl.
You should make it stop snowing @Breadcat24

I am genuinely so happy that Gizmo continues to behave like a right little shitbag with the hissing, scratching and growling. He's clearly right at home.
If he'd turned into a pussycat it would have been so disappointing 🤣

Allergictoironing · 19/11/2024 18:52

Well Tobias's poo results came back negative, so next stage will be blood tests. Got this into in a text which said that knowing him, "he might need a dab of sedation" so to try for a morning appointment. MIGHT??? lol. Bearing in mind this is the cat who needs sedative tablets just to be GOT to the vets in the first place......

JaceLancs · 19/11/2024 22:40

Finlay is a bit more settled although that’s on a fairly hefty cocktail of drugs that would floor some humans
He is peeing - but with pain and struggles
At least at this time of day we get him comfy

I know I've said it before but Finlay really is a handsome chap. Paws crossed for his and Matt's recoveries.

Frankfurter has collapsed with exhaustion from doing the square root of fuck all today. It's a hard life!

1915 apparently- I'd estimated 1912 so fairly close.
Afterwards the picture sent me down an Internet rabbit hole and I discovered the following on Wikipedia.
One of the most ambitious promotions took place on 18 October 1913 - designated by the company as “Black Cat Day”. Advertised extensively in the national press, Black Cat salesmen could give a golden half-sovereign to anyone they approached in the street who could prove they were in possession of a Black Cat pack.
So - National Black Cat Day in October is actually celebrating smoking eh? 🤣

Allergictoironing · 20/11/2024 08:49

National Black Cat Day in October is actually celebrating smoking eh

He he he.

I remember many years ago when they banned all smoking advertising on the TV, caused a bit of a ruckus in the show jumping world. Prior to this, many horses had a tobacco company prefix or suffix to their name which was easy enough to remove when they showed HOYS, Hickstead or Olympia on the TV, but there was a horse who's full, registered name was Craven A (which was a brand of cigarettes in those days).

The BHS was VERY anti affiliated level horses having name changes, partly to do with preventing sandbagging & partly because they were a bunch of up themselves stuffed shirts. So they were telling the owners of this international level horse that they couldn't change it's name, while at the same time the BBC were saying they couldn't show it on the TV due to it's name. I think they did try to broadcast one event where they just didn't mention or show any footage of the "banned" horse but that really didn't work out when he was placed & they had to have a gap in the results on screen, so eventually the BHS caved and agreed to the name change.
