I spent ages last night trying to think of this thread title.

🤣🤣🤣

I'm surprised you didn't think to take pictures of them and post them on the thread.

NMCs (except not cats, obvs.)

Sadly I hadn't been introduced to the joys of Mumsnet 26 years ago 🤣.

Having just checked - nobody had. We've lived in the same house longer than MN has existed.

We've been married longer than MN has existed.

Is that snow, @Esgaroth ?
Whereabouts are you?

Yes, a sprinkling. I'm in the far and frozen north (the keener linguists among you will probably have already guessed that we're Nordic and Kettle is a true Viking cat, not worried by a little snow between the toes).

The catheter is out, @Breadcat24 . He was a bit sore down there so the vet cleaned him up, put some soothing balm on and gave him a kiss on top the head.
Just waiting to see if he wees now. If not it will be the emergency vet tomorrow.

Fingers and paws crossed Matt manages to wee!

RumNotRun · 16/11/2024 20:27

Frankenstein is exploring the sofa and me, trying to decide where the optimum sleeping place is for his next nap.

He eventually settled in the same place where he has been sleeping for the last few days. He is the one on the left. I think 🤔

Matt has done a wee. Only a fairly small one and he had to strain a bit but a wee!

RumNotRun · 16/11/2024 23:21

Yes!!!!! Well done Matt!!! 😀

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 17/11/2024 06:51

Fantastic! Good for Matt!!!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 17/11/2024 09:23

Congrats to Matt - very pleased to hear this update. 👍

Pudmyboy · 17/11/2024 11:27

Oh good ol' Matt! I wonder if his urethra is a bit swollen from having the catheter in and maybe taking a little bit of time to get back to normal? Really I want that to be the reason rather than the poor fella having anything else going on!

Pudmyboy · 17/11/2024 11:28

Any news on Finlay @JaceLancs ?

He was quite sore, the vet said. Plus he has very watery diarrhoea so that might be another explanation. I’m going to change the litter trays so that will make it easier to tell how much he is weeing.’
Yes, how is Finlay? And Tobias?

Papergirl1968 · 17/11/2024 11:35

(Think the diarrhoea is due to the meds.)

JaceLancs · 17/11/2024 11:50

Finlay update
Despite a bit of sedation he has now pulled out his IV fluid tube and cannula
Managed to wee twice so hopefully coming home later today or tomorrow morning
I’m just worried about managing him now as he’s such an outdoor boy

HumanToCatBeasties · 17/11/2024 12:20

Fingers crossed for continued wees for Finlay and Matt.

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 17/11/2024 13:30

Kitty’s nap spot of choice for the winter is now firmly established.

Bed changes have to be done while she’s otherwise occupied.

Oh, Heavens.

Some of these Excellent Cats are causing mayhem for their slaves.

And large dents in their bank balances.

DS2 and DD2 popped round, so I donated a large cat house to them, for Sebastian and Cleo.

It was taking up so much room in our bedroom, and Linney and Gizmo refused to use it. Waste of money, from that point of view......

OP posts:
TheShellBeach · 17/11/2024 13:37

And I've just picked Picard up bodily and placed him outside on the window ledge.

Gizmo was hiding in the bedroom because he knew Picard had strolled in.

Glad that Finlay and Matt seem to be going in the right direction 👍

Kettle is enjoying a cosy Sunday.

@Papergirl1968 I'm still gradually transitioning them over on to the hairball kibble, down to about 1 part diet to 3 parts hairball. Then I'll give him a few days to see if it makes any difference.

The poo test results are due back second half of next week as well, so that timing will tie in nicely.

TheShellBeach · 17/11/2024 13:47

And it seems that Cleo is already interested in the cat house.
