I spent ages last night trying to think of this thread title.

🤣🤣🤣

@JaceLancs - Is he back on the catheter at the vet now? - Basil was dosed up with Gabapentin while in hospital to relax him.
I'm afraid Vets ALWAYS say stress when looking at urinary problems. Just as any skin irritation is 'flea allergy' even for indoor cats with no fleas...
Might be true but who knows?
Hope you get more positive updates later - best wishes again to Finlay.

I'm really jealous. We don't get parakeets where I am in the Midlands, magpies are as exotic as it gets in my garden. What a beautiful bird.

Wouldn't be too jealous - they're bloody noisy little blighters 🤣🤣🤣

Breadcat24 · 16/11/2024 11:23

@JaceLancs could you rig up a temporary catio?

I'm in the west Midlands and they are making appearances: Sandwell Valley in particular. One sunny morning one landed in my neighbour's tree but had flown off before I got my jaw off the floor.
I an envious of a walnut tree! Do you get anything edible from it @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats ?

Pudmyboy · 16/11/2024 12:29

And sending all things crossed for Finlay @JaceLancs 💐

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 16/11/2024 12:30

They’re all over London & especially noisy in the early mornings.

Yes - this one is from last years crop (and having just eaten it, it was delicious)

So you've saved it for a whole year, then taken a picture, and finally stuffed yourself with it?

That was really playing the long game.
🤣

🤣
They take time to dry out. I only have a few left from last year.
This year we were away when they were falling so the squirrels got everything 😭

Breadcat24 · 16/11/2024 12:43

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats When do they fall please? You have just reminded me I saw a big walnut tree in the park near our allotment. I am I too late?

Papergirl1968 · 16/11/2024 15:10

I’ve heard we get parakeets in my part of the West Midlands (not far from Stourbridge) but I’ve never seen them (waves to fellow Midlanders)

Breadcat24 · 16/11/2024 15:16

@Papergirl1968 how is Matt

Papergirl1968 · 16/11/2024 15:22

The catheter is out, @Breadcat24 . He was a bit sore down there so the vet cleaned him up, put some soothing balm on and gave him a kiss on top the head.
Just waiting to see if he wees now. If not it will be the emergency vet tomorrow.

Breadcat24 · 16/11/2024 15:25

fingers and paws crossed from all of us I am sure.

I have spent a lot of this month willing cats to wee!

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 16/11/2024 15:30

Your vet sounds lovely, @Papergirl1968!

There have been times with previous cats where I’ve jumped up & down & cheered because they pooed.

Papergirl1968 · 16/11/2024 15:32

She is lovely. And she didn’t charge for the consultation, only for the metacam I bought.

I really hope he's okay now.

We decided today was as good a day as any to allow Kettle to have a look around outside if he wanted. He's gone for several little forays, had a spray on a bush (probably a rude message to the other ginger cat who keeps walking past him when he's looking out the window) and rushed right back each time.

He did say that he thought he couldn't jump back through the window and it would be better if I opened the door which I was sceptical about 🙄

Typically late August/early September here.

I've never heard of any in the East Midlands, but it's exciting that they might be spreading this way. Fingers crossed for Matt to manage to wee by himself.

My tree identification skills are obviously severely lacking, as I had no idea walnut trees even grew in the UK, never mind know what one looks like. I don't think I have the patience to store nuts for a year before eating them, my kitchen is small enough as it is without trying to work out nut storage, although if I get rid of all the urinary food that Boris has deemed unacceptable to cats I might have more space. 😂

When we first moved in I had no idea what the strange non spikey conkers growing on our tree were either 🤣🤣🤣

I'm surprised you didn't think to take pictures of them and post them on the thread.

NMCs (except not cats, obvs.)

Whereabouts are you?
