Welcome to everyone, old and new!

Flatfish are particularly encouraged to join us.

@TheShellBeach I honestly thought you were going to tell us that Gizmo had attacked the fire fighters!

RumNotRun · 20/10/2024 16:45

Raven is embracing the Halloween month by being a feline Candyman/Beetlejuice. She started as an amorphous black blob in the corner of my room. I said her name once - an ear went back. Twice resulted in an eye opening. Three times, the demon arose and jumped onto the bed demanding attention.

He was too busy hurling himself through the front door when the smoke alarm went off to savage fire fighters.

I saw this ad earlier which I think you will all like. (If anyone is hormonal, I cried, so be careful) I promise Louie I will get him a ramp if we need to.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses that is a cute advert. I'm sure one of the people on this thread got their cats from Battersea - maybe Grumpy?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/10/2024 21:25

Yes - all four of ours are from Battersea Old Windsor branch.
And yes - very nicely done advert.

Although I still have a soft spot for the RSPCA advert below 🤭

We never needed to get Monty a ramp but we did put up a tent up outside for him when he was on his last legs, because he just wanted to be outside in all weathers. He spent hours on it & absolutely loved it (except occasionally when Gizmo got in first and wouldn't share...)

AnneKipankitoo · 20/10/2024 21:45

Gizmo and not sharing ! Never !

RumNotRun · 20/10/2024 21:48

I've got a shitty difficult day in work tomorrow so came to bed early. Fred has also come into my bedroom but he has the zoomies complete with vocal accompaniment. I've tried to get him to settle but he just wants to attack the bed, run onto the windowsill, down onto the sofa, attack it for a few seconds then repeat.

TheShellBeach · 20/10/2024 22:00

The storm is raging outside but both cats are asleep in our room.
Linney is in his house and Gizmo is on the bed. He has even positioned himself thoughtfully on a towel.

I remember when we had the last bad storm that Picard came to our door absolutely soaked.
He stayed the night because Mr SB didn't want him to get any wetter, walking five houses down the road.

That ad made me really sad because we didn’t get the chance to have our girl at 15 - I would have built her all the ramps. I can’t watch that RSPCA ad without signing in to something (?) but I am sure it would make me cry too!

I have a monthly dd to Cats Protection and to a dog rescue in Manchester but wish I could afford to help all the animals.

TheShellBeach · 20/10/2024 23:18

Gizmo carefully extended on the towel on the bed.

Kitty’s from the local rescue I volunteer for, who have been going since 2009 & rehomed god knows how many cats in that time, all fostered in volunteers’ homes (including mine until Kitty arrived - I’m still managing their website & helping with social media though).

Totally volunteer-run & doing amazing work on minimal funds. I’ve left them a legacy in my will.

@EmpressaurusDeiGatti That's amazing, Kitty is lucky to have landed with you!

Esgaroth · 21/10/2024 09:51

In cautiously good news, Kettle's leg wrapping is going extremely well. He can't get it off (not for lack of shaking) but it's not causing any issues - no swelling or coldness. We are not stretching it at all really, just winding it round a few times with some gauze underneath. He's licking the wrap but the wound is doing great protected underneath. He still has his soft cone too, which stops him trying to chew at it. He can only just about lick the bottom part of it.

This morning it looks all dry, very nice and the loose stitch even looks like it's retightened itself. Possibly as the wound draws together and (dare I say it) starts to actually heal???

Her expression is amazing, she must have been such a character!

What marvellous news! Thought he was going to end up in a suit of armour the way he was going!

Second that comment from Esgaroth, that is a cat that takes none of your nonsense!

She is very pretty, and her tabby M on her forehead is definitely there! No doubt about it any more 😸
