From the TC archive - another shot of him pretending to be appealing.

Is he imagining victory, where he lives in your house with Sybil and everyone else has to scrabble at the door and windows to get in?

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 17/10/2024 22:12

This is probably my favourite Kitty photo so far. She chased the mouse all over the room & was very proud of herself when she finally pinned it down.

Gorgeous! And the tabby 'M' on her forehead is quite visible in that picture too!

So it is!

Kettle has managed somehow to open the wound up again - possibly by banging it with the cone in licking attempts and it is worse than ever. I am phoning the vet first thing in the morning, hopefully they will let me bring him straight away. It's horrible to see. I feel sick with worry about it 😟

It's just not going to heal on its own, no way.

Pudmyboy · 18/10/2024 01:58

Oh no! Kettle! What are you doing to yourself! Hope the vet can sort it out and he doesn't cause you any more of this stress!

Allergictoironing · 18/10/2024 06:39

At a rough guess (very much a guess) the next stage for Kitty could be slathering in Manuka honey and covering firmly with vetwrap. Cone still of course to extend the time it takes to remove the bandage!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 18/10/2024 08:45

Sorry to hear Kettle is still struggling. Hopefully the vet can sort something for you this morning.
The 'kittens' are acting as sentinels outside the front door this morning.

Thanks for the well wishes. The little self saboteur has an appointment for 10 am. He seems bright and cheery enough, but his leg looks like a horror show.

We did try to clean it but didn't dare to scrub for fear of making it worse. We covered it in the night, wrapped it with a strip of old t shirt loosely taped, so he didn't get litter in the wound etc. He kept it on throughout the night but has now shaken it off, but the vet put the fear of God into me regarding too-tight bandages on limbs.

We're currently having a cuddle and a cup of tea and trying to calm down (OK 2/3 just me).

Well, he's been admitted. They need to have a really proper look at it under anaesthetic and it's probably stitches for him. Now I sit at home and try to work while fretting about him 😟

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 18/10/2024 12:12

Hugs from Kitty & me, @Esgaroth.

Pudmyboy · 18/10/2024 12:17

Oh @Esgaroth , I hope they manage to find why he is meddling with his wound and sort it out once and for all 🤞🤞😾

TheShellBeach · 18/10/2024 12:19

It's the best thing @Esgaroth because it'll heal much better once it's been sutured.

It's so worrying when they need an anaesthetic, though.

Lots of love to you and to Kettle.

They're probably hoping that Gizmo isn't on his way back.

Esgaroth · 18/10/2024 16:08

Kettle's home, stitches in and a big soft cone rather than a hard one. We've got pain relief for the next five days and an appointment to have stitches out in ten days so fingers crossed all goes well 🤞

He's a bit out of it atm, poor fellow. I hope he doesn't try too hard to get to the stitches once he's revived, because I'm not sure how much I trust this soft cone. Though the vet says it's the biggest they have and clearly the hard cone was causing its own problems.

Oh darling Kettle! I hope that he's back to his normal self soon and that the wound heals up OK.

CatsonPollock · 18/10/2024 16:31

Oh poor Kettle! He's probably picking up radio signals from Mars with that cone... 📡 👽

TheShellBeach · 18/10/2024 17:40

Linney is missing.

He went out at 8 am and he hasn't been back. That's very unusual.

I hope he’s back soon, @TheShellBeach.

TheShellBeach · 18/10/2024 18:10

Well the bugger has just wandered back in.

Bearing in mind it's been a yellow weather warning here today and Mr SB and I got drenched when we collected our shopping, Linney is suspiciously dry.

Goodness knows where he's been all day.

Wretch.

Ah the stress and worry our feline overlords put us through!
Glad Linnet is home, safe and suspiciously dry, and Kettle too, that cone looks almost Elizabethan!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 18/10/2024 18:22

Very pleased that Linney came back within 30 minutes of sending out the MN batcatsignal. 😹
Has Gizmo taught him to break into other people's houses perchance?

TheShellBeach · 18/10/2024 18:36

I'd just put his picture on the village FB page when he strolled in.
