Welcome back @PollyCreo So sorry to hear that you've "been through it" 💐
Cats really are the best medicine 🐾

RumNotRun · 07/10/2024 21:12

Welcome back @PollyCreo I hope you're getting better, and of course you're allowed back. The more the merrier. However, if you have a cat/s then you do need to pay the tax.

For my tax, another gratuitous photo of Lexter cooking in the sun.

Thank you for the welcome back 🙂 I've just moved house too so had my babies under house arrest for a week... wasn't the best!

PollyCreo · 07/10/2024 21:28

You might remember Kloppy? He was the kitty I stole from the charity shop at the beginning of lockdown?

RumNotRun · 07/10/2024 21:33

No, but I want to hear this story! 😀

No, but I want to hear this story! 😀

He was a cute baby, fell in love with him. You know when you just see a cat and your heart goes 😍 😍 😍 He just stole my heart. Trying to attach a pic of him....

TheShellBeach · 07/10/2024 23:11

Hello @PollyCreo and welcome back!
I remember your posts on these threads. I also remember Kloppy.

Welcome back Polly!!!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/10/2024 07:45

Welcome back from me too Polly. Hope you are properly on the mend after your treatment. I look forward to updates on Kloppy.

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 08/10/2024 09:20

Hello Polly! I hope you’re recovering well and I really want to hear the rest of the story…

Esgaroth · 08/10/2024 10:26

I also want to hear the story of the cat from the charity shop. Do you have a picture of Kloppy?

Esgaroth · 08/10/2024 10:37

I came down this morning and Kettle's cone was all dusty from his litter tray (which he'd successfully used thank goodness) and he'd dropped bits of litter in his food, so I'm going to stop having food down at night.

I felt so bad for him that I removed the cone after his breakfast and he had a massive grooming session. Whenever he went near the wound I covered it with my hand and he just licked my hand - this was surprisingly effective and he was clearly feeling gross.

I think I'm just going to spend as much time with him as possible and cone him only when unsupervised. I did try to put an old baby jumper on him but it also restricted his movement and didn't really work to prevent access to the wound. I'll go out and get him a doughnut cone later, see if that's better.

@spikeandbuffy
Matt has urinary cat food and it was a case of trying a few brands to find what he liked best. He wasn’t very keen on Hills wet food but did begrudgingly eat it. Favourites seem to be Almo Nature, Smilla and Concept for Life, all from Zooplus.
I limit his dry food but he does have a small handful of Purina Biferensis (I don’t think that’s quite the right word but it’s similar) last thing at night.
I sometimes add a bit of water to his food and always let him finish the milk out of my cornflakes bowl to get more fluid into him.
Cystaid capsules from Amazon sprinkled on to his food once a day.
After a couple of very expensive vet bills we’ve had no further problems since ddog died in January so I think a lot of it might have been stress related. But as a fat older male cat I know he’s at high risk of further problems so keeping him on the urinary food although I don’t mind if he finishes off the last bit of Socks’ normal food. Or at the end of the month when money is even tighter than usual he might even get fed a few normal meals until I can afford to order again. Just as long as he’s on urinary food the majority of the time.
@PollyCreo welcome back. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been poorly. 💐

spikeandbuffy · 08/10/2024 11:02

Thanks @Papergirl1968
I've got cystophan
He went overnight but has tried and failed to go again, but then had a small wee
I've booked an appointment for tonight but he's bright, drinking and eating so will cancel if he has a decent size wee

Esgaroth · 08/10/2024 18:09

After his grooming break and nap this morning, Kettle unfortunately started really persistently trying to lick his wound so I had to put the collar back on.

I'm a bit worried about him because he won't drink anything - I've held the bowl up for him and I know he can reach it. He hasn't been to his litter tray all day either and usually he's been going a few times per day.

He's eating OK and napping and is still his affectionate self (doesn't seem to be holding a grudge despite the fact I've been such a bastard to him), but minimal movement and he hasn't been doing anything else but mope.

Will he adapt if we stick with it? I'm scared he's going to make himself ill. I wasn't able to get out today to get him a doughnut collar to try unfortunately.

Hope all the other cats on here also under doctor's orders are feeling OK!

@TheShellBeach I can order things from Amazon, but it will take ages to get here and I will have to pay an enormous toll. One of the downsides of where I live, unfortunately.

PollyCreo · 07/10/2024 20:44

Can I creep back in here? I've been absent due to serious illness 😞

Welcome, pull up a comfy chair and cat 😺
Hope you are fully recovered now💐

RumNotRun · 08/10/2024 20:23

I'm very excited. I bought a heated throw today that's double the size of my/the cats' current one and it was just over £20 in the Amazon sale. The cats can now keep their tiny old one and I'll have my lovely big new one.

Alternatively the cats will have both and I'll be cold.

LostCats · 08/10/2024 21:05

You know how this is going to end don’t you Rum….

sigh Yes.

I also spent ages today moving my bookcase and all the books on it so that the cat tree could be in the lounge, thinking the tribe may prefer it as most of them like being in here. Ghostie has remained sleeping on a paper bag on the floor, and Raven, Toad, and Lexter are still on the ottoman. I give up 😁

Talking of cats sleeping in odd places, we heard the sound of a cat snoring tonight, and discovered Linney asleep under the Feliway plug in the hall.

Gizmo is like a little feline bouncer protecting the cave.

Toad and Fred are staring at me. I think they are plotting my demise. Well, Toad is. Fred doesn't have a brain cell.
