@RumNotRun can I ask what Lexter's back story is? He has such a marvellous face 😍

RumNotRun · 06/10/2024 21:15

I've posted it earlier on this thread, but TLDR, he lost all his fur a few years ago. The vet didn't know why. It's grown back loads but he still has naked bits, like his face, paws, and thighs.

He was an adorable tabby and white kitten known locally as Pretty Face. He's now my adorable little gremlin.

Off his tiny head on the meds lol

Louie-Boo signing in for cosy cat club. We have the heated throw on. Really doing a good impression of a cat that did not leave a bloodied corpse (mouse) just outside the back door yesterday.

Kitty wants to know why I’m faffing around on my phone instead of coming to bed.

It's on ·Page 7 of this thread, date 26/09/2024 (I asked the same question @Puppylucky !)

Shady has eaten and drunk, no wee yet so I'll feel a bit happier once he's been
Ordered some lick treats on Amazon for hiding the meds in
I can give him tablets but getting him to swallow them is another matter!

Defiantlynot41 · 07/10/2024 00:30

@spikeandbuffy veteran of pill administration here! Smear of lick e lx on top lip or tiny squirt of water from syringe in mouth hopefully triggers a swallow response. If not the scent of ham usually does it, just need to keep hold of cat until you're sure

Puppylucky · 07/10/2024 07:36

Thanks @RumNotRun and @Pudmyboy what an interesting life Lexter's had! I love that photo of him on page 7 he looks amazing. So glad he's so happy and content now .

spikeandbuffy · 07/10/2024 08:57

Shady has had a wee!

Congrats Shady!!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/10/2024 10:09

I do love the way the threads here celebrate our poorly cats getting better - even something as simple as a cat managing to have a pee. 😁

Hope all is well with Finlay this morning too.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 07/10/2024 10:59

I go to see my "kid" at uni for a few days and bloody hell have I missed a lot! Glad everyone who's been poorly is on the mend (((hugs))) xx

I've got to take Kettle to the vet today for his second jab and general check. First time I've taken any animal to the vet, let alone a cat who may not cooperate with being put in a carrier, and I'm quite nervous.

How soon before we need to leave should I attempt to incarcerate the poor fellow?

What is the best tactic? He's a calm cat but I'm worried if I fuck up the first attempt it will become a lot more tricky.

I tend to casually start closing doors so they're in the smallest place with nowhere to hide -like bathroom or hallway
Firm and decisive as you get one shot!

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 07/10/2024 11:48

Kitty’s carrier lives in the hall and I give her Dreamies in there fairly often, which means it’s a lot easier to lure her in there when necessary.

Esgaroth · 07/10/2024 11:52

Haha I guess I should have thought of that a while ago, too late for today! It's been out in his room for two weeks but I didn't think to feed him treats in there.

I've put it in the downstairs loo and hopefully will be able to casually get him in there and shut the door before he realises I'm about to betray him.

Esgaroth · 07/10/2024 11:54

When we picked him up from the foster I'd say he was more gently reluctant than furious, but the foster did help us and today I am solo.

spikeandbuffy · 07/10/2024 11:54

I've just given shady his antibiotics tablet by... putting it on the floor and he ate it
I knew he was weird but still Grin
He's hopefully sniffing about for more

Haha 😄

When I was little we always used to give the dogs their medicine by making them sit for it as if it was a treat.

Esgaroth · 07/10/2024 12:56

I wanted to give myself a bit of leeway in case of fuck ups but it went pretty easy and now I have him in the carrier half an hour before we need to go. Poor guy 😔

Esgaroth · 07/10/2024 13:04

He's now mewing piteously in the carrier by the front door and I feel like a monster.
