Great news @LostCats although I think in their minds hurt pride is worse than physical injuries 😁

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/10/2024 08:40

Very pleased to hear Eko is on the mend @LostCats.

Sent this by DS1. I don't normally forward Internet humour but this one did make me laugh.

I came across this lovely (and very true) poem today and thought of all the lovely cats on this thread who are constantly looking for the door to summer

Ah Defiantly, that is a gorgeous poem. Thank you for posting it.

RumNotRun · 03/10/2024 14:13

That is a lovely poem, I'm going to send it to a friend cause I think she'll love it. Thanks Defiantly.

On a non cat related note (although they are watching me intently in case I share the short ribs with them), I'm making a Jamie Oliver recipe for Rioja short ribs. All fine, but then he says "taking pride, spoon the marmalade over the meat". Really? Taking pride in spooning jam? The mind boggles.

Kettle has deigned to join me upstairs in the office today. It's great to have a supervisor. Here he is keeping an eye on the bin men out the window for me.

And was very very brave yesterday evening, exploring all the upstairs and even looking in on DH who was on the computer. So hopefully just a little blip with his acclimatisation. He seems to be making himself more at home every day 😊

I'm now feeding him on the stairs which he's accepted, with a view to slowly moving feeding zone into the utility room.

Kettle is looking very at home (office)!
Does he have a little orange 'beard'? 😄

RumNotRun · 03/10/2024 14:19

He is a very handsome supervisor!

Haha yes! Goatees seldom look good imo but I think he pulls it off 😁

Looks like he is all healed now, and getting bolder, I think we should lay bets on how long before he fully takes over your house and hearts @Esgaroth !

Pudmyboy · 03/10/2024 22:28

Going back through some old WhatsApp messages and came across something:
(Apologies if you all already know about it and are yawning):
Type 'cat' into Google; on the page that comes up a small pawprint 'button' will appear on the right hand side, tap lightly on that then tap on different parts of the page.
Probably best not to do if you are meant to be paying attention in a meeting or suchlike.

Pudmyboy · 03/10/2024 22:33

(there's one for dogs too)

RumNotRun · 03/10/2024 23:25

@Pudmyboy that's fantastic. I can have hours of fun annoying the cats with that!

RumNotRun · 03/10/2024 23:27

Incidentally my short ribs turned out amazingly, even if I don't think I spooned marmalade with pride. I've posted the recipe just in case any of you fancy making it. An added bonus is you use less than half the bottle of wine so then you have to drink the rest, otherwise it would go to waste 😉

@Pudmyboy Thats so funny! I had no idea this existed. Tried it out and Sky immediately came to investigate.

Inks42 · 04/10/2024 08:19

I was trying to take a picture of Sky yesterday, but she wouldn’t sit still for 2 seconds. This was the best I managed. She is a skittery one.

I did manage to get a good one of Amber coveting Poppys food.
Poppy also managed to look straight at the camera for another picture. And the day before Pepper had a lovely sleep on the sofa.

So many kitties 😃😍

Allergictoironing · 04/10/2024 08:56

Wish me luck peoples - vet day for Tobias!

I THINK I managed to get some Gabapentin in him last night. I broke one up into teeny tiny bits & tried inserting it into some chunky ham and though some ended up on the floor I think some got in.

Then I squished one a bit & mixed it with the thick gloopy gravy with his meal, and that was mostly eaten during the evening & finished by the morning; though you can never be sure which cat ate what at various times during the night it was in the bowl he always starts eating at.

Then this morning I've completely crushed one into powder and again mixed it in to the gravy in his breakfast, though I notice that though Girlcat's bowl has all the gravy licked off his hasn't.

Last attempt shortly will be powdered & half stuffed into some chunky chicken and maybe a bit on some thinly sliced Honey Roast Ham (their absolute favorite, special occasions only!)

I have my thick waterproof jacket to hand (the one with very long sleeves) and leather driving gloves at the ready, and thick gardening gloves nearby just in case. Thickest tough trousers on. Carrier with front door back on, and top hatch door open.

What have I forgotten???

Allergictoironing · 04/10/2024 09:00

Oh, and max painkillers taken for my back in case I don't grab him first time & there's a bit of wrangling to be done!

Pudmyboy · 04/10/2024 09:11

Good luck @Allergictoironing 🤞 🤞 🤞🍀🍀🍀🍀!
Edited to include Allergic

LostCats · 04/10/2024 09:12

Sounds like you’ve got it well covered Allergic! Although if you had a welding mask or a hockey mask to hand that would be a good addition.
But it may scare him so much it is of no use anyway.

Good luck!!
