TW Cars hit cat in front of me

Hi. Just sharing as still shaking to bits with fury and the awfulness. And to ask any experience with this situation. Cat is now at vet, alive.
Not my cat. Driving home. Saw white cat on road in opposite lane. Stopped, put hazards on, all kids in car. Went to get out. Two more cars drive by and BOTH hit the cat. Worst thing I've ever witnessed. Tossed him. I was screaming with rage at this point at the carelessness and callousness of the drivers. It was a 30. No way they didn't see him. I pick him up and he's warm and breathing.
I'm freaking out from witnessing it and yell at a nearby man to help. He shrugs 'probably won't make it anyway' and won't. I call him some things and he goes nuts. I get in car and hand cat to my mum then try dialling 24hour vets. Near impossible to find one. Finally say they'll call me back and find me one 20 mins away. I don't even hear the directions as so freaking out but get to town somehow through tears and to lovely vet
Readers, he has no fractures but his pupils are pin prick not responding properly. He had blood in his eyes.suspects head trauma. Neutered male. Vet will look for chip and call owner and said call in morning to find out what's what. Said we'll have him if no owner.

Honestly one of the worst things I've ever experienced. I'd like to hunt down those two drivers and pulverise them.

Is there any hope for him.

I'm so pleased there are people in the world like you. I must admit, I haven't revisited post because I thought how could he have survived - even after your prompt action. It still makes me physically sick that so called humans would do that.

Again, we stopped up the road, well past him. The time it took me to realise what it was and pull over.

Had I been on their side, driving towards him at the actual speed limit, I would have seen a white shape on the black road from a long way back and had plenty of stop time. They were going too fast and they didn't care to slow down or stop or stop after the fact. He went up in the air both times. The back car would have seen this and could have stopped afterwards at least. The front car could have seen him initially from far off and slowed down to a stop on the long, straight road.

And any cars coming my side to endanger my children after Id pulled over would have seen us from a long way off, lights on, straight road 30mph.

So, sorry, they were arseholes.

PS. He is doing great. So friendly!!! He's getting the run of both cat areas now when original cat is out. He's also walked past our small dog and neither of them care.

This is lovely to hear, I've hesitated coming back to this thread as I didn't want to hear that he didn't make it..
I've just braved and read that he has, just want to thank you for being a special person who cares to stop and help and thanks to you he's alive today 😊

He's gorgeous btw, hope he brings you lots of joy, it's well deserved.

How is Angelo settling in @Carouselfish ?

Carouselfish · 20/10/2024 18:47

Hi! He is so bloomin' cute! Let him outside for the first time today. Walked him all round all the garden, he then went out the front gate (track not road) and across into my neighbours' garden and all round that (neighbour liked him a lot). Then he disappeared for a little bit. I tried to act casual and then he reappeared and came trotting back in.
Only hurdle to overcome is resident cat. They have seen each other through glass door and she has hissed. We've scent swapped, territory swapped and I'm going to put in a few extra shelves and things for extra places to escape to before we try seeing through a stair-gate and then mingling dependent on hissing. She is smaller and in comparison to him, pretty ferocious. He is just a slow doof. She's a proper witches' cat, only really likes one person in the house and turns her back on anyone else. Happy to take it very very slowly. And crossing fingers.

Just come across this thread and so pleased to see such a happy ending. What a gorgeous boy and thank God for people like you!

Many years ago when DH and I were first married we got our first two cats. We came home one evening and as we were opening our front door we heard a bang and turned around to see that our cat had just been by a car. We ran out onto the street and could see she was still alive but before we could get to her another car hit her and didn't stop. There was no way on earth the driver couldn't have seen her, or us. Sadly our outcome wasn't as happy as yours and it still upsets me when I think about it 35 years on!

Enjoy your lovely boy. I have two gingers myself (and a little black and white girl who rules the roost). They bring me so much joy.

Carouselfish · 24/10/2024 09:42

So sorry to hear it @Icequeen01 It does still haunt me even despite happy ending. Can't imagine it being a loved pet on top. It's the not even stopping afterwards thar gets me.

Here is one of resident ball of ferociousness for fairness to her.

Just found this thread! Congrats on your new additon!
Last month I stopped for a dumped young cat but as was pulling up a bus and three cars all went over him and there wasn't even much left to pick up

I then found another identical one hit on a verge nearby. Think they had been dumped. No chip, or I may have taken them in :(

Also in case it hasn't been said, when I introduced my two unrelated cats I totally blasted them with two red feliway friends plug ins (more than needed but I wasn't sure!) So may be helpful possibly! Love that stuff!
Good luck! ❤️

Oh god this is so sad.....makes my blood boil when I think of the callousness of some people, times like this I really hope karma exists😿

Carouselfish · 25/10/2024 22:57

@lblb640 do you know, we had a massive feliway disaster. We had the "Friends" one plugged in and our collie went off the charts bizarre, not eating, trembling, pacing, not sleeping. Didn't connect the two until £500 of vet bills and three days later. Unplugged it and he went back to normal in half an hour. Currently in talks with Feliway about it as zero literature to suggest dogs can be adversely affected. But it got to the point I almost thought he was going to die. Made a thread about it somewhere.
So I guess Catface and Angel cat will have to go it unpheramoned! He is desperate to hang out with her!
