I remember reading somewhere that white cats can also have mis-matched eyes. Like David Bowie!

Fun fact! David Bowie didn't have mis-matched eyes. The pupil in one was permanently dilated following an injury but they were the same colour.

Sorry, I'll shut up now 😁

CatsonPollock · 01/04/2024 22:27

Ah! I stand corrected! That's interesting. I'm now completely off the litter tray thread subject... but thinking Bowie must have found the bright lights on stage a problem with a dilated pupil?

upanddowns · 02/04/2024 09:49

Just found the new thread! Sorry I've been MIA, may have name changed too, not sure 😂 Still being patient with foster cat, although after wanting to be stroked she gave me a couple of smacks this morning 😂

I wondered what people feed on a budget if their cats just lick the jelly or gravy but leave the chunks? She does eat dry food happily. I've been feeding a mixture of Whiskas, AGAIL and Webbox, but although she loves fish flavours she still leaves the chunks.

LostCats · 02/04/2024 09:53

Boone loves the jelly and leaves the chunks but eats his dry food so I just bin the chunks.
that is of course if Eko hasn’t eaten it already. He is the cat equivalent of a dog dear me.

One of my previous cats was like this. I tried the pate in tins which they ate if I sprinkled a few dry food pellets on top - Gourmet Melting Hearts (but I think they might possibly be discontinued now) and also the soup sachets - with dry food sprinkled on. My cat didn't seem to drink much water so I was trying to get more fluids into her because of UTI infections. But I don't know whether they would work out particularly cost effective for you though.

Canwegetanothercat · 02/04/2024 10:17

Speaking of cat food, does anyone know of any wet food for sensitive stomachs? Ramsey doesn’t seem to agree with any commercial cat food, it gives him diarrhoea every time. I switched him to royal canin gastro intestinal. He LOVES the dry food but won’t eat the wet because it’s jelly and he prefers gravy.

I don’t want to just keep him on dry food. Does anyone know of any good quality wet food that won’t mess up his stomach??

Have you tried Purina Probiotic powders? Leroy sometimes gets diarrhoea and was prescribed them by the Vet. You don't need a prescription though and can just buy them (cheaper) off Amazon. I use them for 3 or 4 days and it seems to do the trick.

Oh no, I haven’t even heard of these! I’ll take a look now, thank you ☺️

YesItsMeIDontCare · 02/04/2024 14:37

@Canwegetanothercat - they're called Purina ProPlan FortiFlora Feline Probiotic which is probably why I couldn't remember exactly what it was while I was out 😂

Thanks so much, I have ordered them.

It’s bad when he is on normal cat food because he has long hair and the diarrhoea gets stuck to the fur around his bum and I have to cut it out with the designated “poo scissors” 😆 I can’t say either of us enjoy that very much

YesItsMeIDontCare · 02/04/2024 15:46

I have bum wipes for Leroy 🙈

According to Tobias and Girlcat this evening, I haven't fed them for at least 2 weeks.

The empty pouch from this morning's breakfast? Nope, that must be something I ate. Same with the others in the top of the bin. And the same for the almost empty pack of sliced cold beef in the fridge. The half full bowl of kibble? My eyes need examining, there's nothing in it. The fact that the entire house shakes when Tobias jumps off the bed to come downstairs? Must be the neighbours, he's wasting away to skin & bones so light as a feather.

And for some reason they can even recognise that it's Summer Time, so 8pm by the clock today is the same time as 8pm by the clock a week ago so must be supper time.

RumNotRun · 02/04/2024 20:54

@Allergictoironing that's what Lexter is like. He'll cry and shout about having no food and being starving, half an hour after being fed with food still on the plate and three full bowls of dry food in different places around the house. I have to escort him into the kitchen and show him the plates of food. Occasionally he may deign to eat it then.

It's a good job they're cute 🥰

JaceLancs · 02/04/2024 20:56

@coastergirl I feel your pain
Finlay has got stuck on the shed roof for the 3rd time since let out again and is not convinced by DPs carefully constructed cat ladder

My sympathy to all those with cats on roofs. Experience would suggest that they'll make their own way down when they've caused the maximum possible panic and inconvenience.
Great cat ladder btw 😅

My lap has proved woefully inadequate for Basil tonight (he is quite a long chap). He's decided to stretch his legs out onto the chair armrest too.

The late Oscar used to do a perfect impression of a starving cat whilst standing between two freshly served bowls of food. But that was cat food, while he knew there was people's food around. And was not he a person too? Of course he was! Cat food is only food when there isn't anything more interesting i.e. someone else's.

CatsonPollock · 02/04/2024 22:23

Very impressed with the cat ladder @JaceLancs! Do you hire your DP out? (Asking for a fat furry friend)

Papergirl1968 · 02/04/2024 22:34

What a fabulous cat ladder!
As a teenager we had a Siamese who would regularly get stuck on the greenhouse roof.
We would hold up a washing basket into which he would deign to step and be lifted ceremoniously to the floor. Like an emperor in a sedan chair.
Strange how he never got stuck on the roof when we were all out. 😂

Canwegetanothercat · 02/04/2024 23:07

Another cat here on a roof 😆 why do they do this to us! He actually jumps onto here and then jumps even higher onto the bedroom windowsill to be let in 😳 I have a heart attack every time

Arthur’s bagged his place on the bed for tonight

Canwegetanothercat · 02/04/2024 23:08

Also love the cat ladder! Could’ve done with one of those when Nola kept getting stuck up the tree every time she went out 🙈
