Machiavellian Misbehaviour- the Excellent Cats Deny Everything

Clarion call to all the cats from the last thread and a warm welcome to any new ones who want to join us.

DS and Izzy seem to be a trifle confused re the lap cat concept.

@Imatorturedpoet Tita is lovely!
She is a good match to Breadcat for colouring and stripes!
who we took in starved and ratty.
She has just learned to purr like Tita.
I would crawl over broken glass to make the cat happy- a purr is such a gift.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats Cedric and Doris are so gorgeous are they friendly too?

They are reasonably sociable and Cedric does spend an inordinate amount of time on his back inviting his tummy to be rubbed. However, sadly, much to the chagrin of FWK, they aren't lap-cats.
Curiously I sometimes wish our cats weren't so obsessed with our laps. 🙄
Meanwhile this evening Basil is displaying the unexpected blep.

Basil is looking resplendent with his blep, if a Void can be described as resplendent.

I also sometimes muse about the cats not being quite so determined to sit on me, especially when Vixen drapes herself around my neck and shoulders using her razor sharp claws to hold on, or when Raven is determined to sit on my lap and have strokes despite me trying to read/work/do anything other than give her attention. I then remember how much time I spend trying to coax the boys into sitting near me, and acknowledge that I am ungrateful and should be thankful that the girls deign to give me attention.

Linney jumped into the store cupboard just now.

He seemed to know that there was catnip kept in it.

Linney is not only an exceptionally handsome chap, he's obviously a very clever cat too. 😼

Terrible confession.

While looking through a pile of recipes yesterday, I discovered a note I'd made of Linney's date of birth.

It turns out he was born on July 1st 2013. So he's coming up to his 11th birthday.

And there was me thinking he was already 12.

Happy birthday Matt and anyone else coming up to a birthday. Our two have been given assumed birth dates of 1st September 2021 and 2022 respectively, Thrifty's randomly selected, Izzy's slightly more accurate. We won't be bothering to celebrate those. For cats, every day should be their birthday anyway.

I asked Allergic if she appreciated the photo upthread. She said but where is DS? So I have to explain the pic (which kills the joke, of course). DS is trying to sit on a chair on which Izzy had already got comfortable - that's his dressing gown and a bit of his leg to the right. Therefore he was sitting on her instead of the more usual other way round. Maybe they'll work it out eventually.

Oh ha! Now I can see it. I looked before and figured DS was out of shot or something. 😄

'Tis DS's birthday today too and, given the nature of his uni course, is possibly also being shouted by robins 😂

Weirdly it's also DH's daughter's birthday. She's a SEN TA so probably being shouted at by small children rather than robins 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm afraid we missed our mogs' birthdays this year as usual. Ours have just turned 6 and 13, could have sworn that Basil and Sybil were older than thirteen (and Karl and Lenny younger than six.)

Yeah, I figured if Allergic, who as you've noticed is not thick, and who knows us, couldn't work it out then it must call for explanation! I didn't want to put too much of him in shot. At least everyone could see the cat (just!).

The cushion, here serving as DS's elbow rest, is a kind of heirloom, btw. It's got a tapestry cat on it and belonged to DM's cousin who was also Allergic's godmother and a fairly amazing lady.

OK, they're doing it again, this picture should make everything clearer.

Izzy is worn out in that picture having been showing off to me just how adorable and playful she is. Thrifty was much more interested in me discovering THE spot on her jaw that she loves. And of course both were being appreciative of the freeze dried chicken liver pieces I brought round for them!

Frederick often sits on top of the fire basket but tonight he went one step further and climbed up inside the chimney. He is now a tuxedo cat.
