Will try those and report back. Won't be for a week though - we're away and @TCsDad is looking after the mogs.

I bought the tribe a payday present. 6 pcs Natural Silvervine Sticks... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CP6ZMYLM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

They have just arrived and are a massive hit, although have caused my hand to be shredded as Toad was lying on one stick while attacking another. He was not happy that I took the one he was lying on.

We recommend them for any of the Litter Tray cats, even Ghostie who doesn't play much is rolling round chewing on her stick.

Good recommendation but I don't need any more stuff for Leroy. I. Do. Not. Need. Any. More. Stuff. For. Leroy.

I. Do. Not. Need. An.... <sighhhhhh>

Oh go on then. Will report back.

😁

RumNotRun · 02/03/2024 16:21

The tribe didn't need any more toys but I feel less guilty about wasting money if I buy them stuff than if I buy it for me 😁

I wonder what TC would think of a silver vine twig? I can imagine his murder mittens would shred it pretty quickly!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/03/2024 16:23

I may offer TC one on my return 😺

TheShellBeach · 02/03/2024 16:48

I have ordered some.
I will let the thread know Linney's opinion in due course.

He's busy at the moment, getting ready to fight with Suzy if she tries to come in through the window

Human’s leg makes a useful prop for feline leg to be washed.
(excuse my pasty white legs, I’m getting over covid and not got dressed yet)

Oh I dunno. Maybe Papergirl has taken Matt to the pub.

I think he looks like he'd enjoy a pint 🍺

My mum used to have a cat who went to the pub. Without my parents. Frequently. They found out when they bumped into him there... 😂

Supersimkin2 · 03/03/2024 13:16

Matt is so lovely.

Yes, can’t stop sniggering 🤣

Papergirl1968 · 03/03/2024 15:43

😂
He does look rather like he is doing his stretches. Think he’s a little too fat to be a ballet dancer though.
Lol I would love to hear what your parents said when they found their cat hanging out at the pub, Yes.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 03/03/2024 16:04

I think it was along the lines of

Mum: WTABF???????
Landlord: Oh he often pops in. I think he has a home - he looks well fed but likes the attention and gets quite a lot scraps.
Mum: HE IS WELL FED!!! HE'S MY CAT!!! BRIAAAAAAAAN!!!!!

(That may be an exaggeration, but you get the drift 😁)

They didn't mind - just asked that he wasn't fed going forward. He probably still was though 😂

It's going back a good few years though.

Papergirl1968 · 03/03/2024 16:46

Love it!

Now the robocats have gained in confidence, their angelic manners are beginning to slip. Dear little Izzy has a delightful habit of tapping DS lightly on the foot when she wants him to play. The other day he was deep in an online game with friends and just not noticing. So she escalated the attention seeking in the time-honoured fashion: a legful of claws. He had sharp words, and left her sitting quietly on the footstool for a decent interval before playing with her so she didn't associate the zapping with a positive result.

Yesterday I was getting some pills out of the medicine cupboard, which Izzy thought must be a second cat treat cupboard she didn't know about. After a minute or two of winding round my ankles, while I struggled to get a paracetamol capsule out of its wrapper (those things put up a fair bit of resistance), she grabbed my leg with both front paws and just enough claw to prickle uncomfortably. Again words were had, whereupon she sat down and looked at me mournfully.

No skin was broken in either of these incidents, I'm pleased to say. But we are not having that sort of behaviour going forward. Or maybe we are. They are, after all, cats.

RumNotRun · 03/03/2024 19:35

@Anniegetyourgun I love the optimism that your DS and you had words with the cats and now they will learn from their experience. I have told my cats off at times, they look at me then go back to being little shits.

My friend's cat reminding him that he is not working this week.

Mrs Van Der Floof is magnificent!

Thanks, @RumNotRun
I remember her as a kitten when she stood on my boob to get at the milk in my cornflake bowl. That would be a bit uncomfortable today. ,😹

They stopped it at the time. That's all one can hope for, really.

Anyway, you can't say cats don't learn. They learn which packet sounds like pills and which sounds like Dreamies... when it's safe to go to sleep in the carrier and when to avoid it like the plague... which human feeds them and which to play with... which is the warm spot near the radiator... and if they go out (which mine don't at the moment) which neighbourhood cats to greet cheerfully and which to keep well away from. In the last week alone they learned what a vacuum cleaner does and that the grill is hot (disclaimer: no cats were injured in the course of these discoveries). They also know that when Mum uses The Voice it is time to stop scratching the recliner (for now). So they're not daft, and not especially disobliging as cats go. Well, not so far. Just a bit prickly sometimes.

Allergictoironing · 04/03/2024 07:19

Give them time Annie, give them time!

Supersimkin2 · 04/03/2024 11:48

Yes 🤣🤣🤣 Respec to DM

Annie, the sweetness. Prince just clawed my new skirt for Dreamies instead of second breakfast. I sometimes feel
learning is a choice.

@Supersimkin2 - No-one could refuse that level of adorableness! Look at the li'l feetsies - not just the Angel face 🥰

Anniegetyourgun · 04/03/2024 13:31

How can you possibly say no to anything that gorgeous fellow wants? As DS used to say when the late Oscar had done something particularly heinous, "But look at his little face!" And yeah - with all his, er, idiosyncratic ways, Oscar did indeed have a sweet face.

Agree about learning being a choice. Oscar always knew, but he chose when to comply. As it should be.

Report on the Catnip Sticks by Linney

I loved them and thought they were great but...........

But my mum had to wrestle the first one from me when I had an allergic reaction to it and could not stop sneezing.

She was pissed off that she hadn't read the reviews on Amazon which warned of possible severe allergic reactions.

She was also horrified when she saw that I'd managed to untangle the string from the one stick I was allowed. Apparently a kitten ended up choking on a such a string and had to go to the vet's.
I got the string untangled within two minutes.

I am a BOSS for how quick I got the string off. And kittens are so dramatic

Eek! @TheShellBeach And ooh at Prince the amazing levitating kitty.

I am doing some sewing. Or rather, I was doing some sewing. Stood up to iron the item and turned back to see a non-violent coup had taken place on my chair. You snooze, you win, apparently.
