And in other news, I've set up an online petition to get the local community behind the residents of our sheltered housing complex. (you may remember that the HA is trying to get rid of our warden)

I posted the petition on the village FB page.

Good luck 👍

I was idly taking a photo of Basil on the kitchen table this morning, cursing him for looking away every time I tried. I realised afterwards that Karl had photo bombed it.

A new visitor this morning. NMF?

Wow! Fantastic photo.

upanddowns · 24/01/2024 11:14

Just taken in my second offering of Dreamies and a minute later the cctv caught her popping her head out from under the chair to eat them 😆❤️

Edited

They're both beautiful.

LostCats · 24/01/2024 11:40

Ahh yey @upanddowns !

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/01/2024 11:59

I'll start training Linney to steal kittens tomorrow.

He has brought you the handsome Picard. What more do you want?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/01/2024 12:13

I'm deeply deeply disappointed that I've never had a cat that collected kittens. My cats have collectively failed me.

coastergirl · 24/01/2024 12:40

Didn't Ollie once bring Queen a kitten? Or am I imagining that?

RumNotRun · 24/01/2024 12:52

I love that in the second photo Karl is looking straight at the camera, showing what a good boy he is compared to his brother.

I don't think I get any wildlife in my garden except rats that have been spotted in the past. Do feral youths count? We have lots of those.

Dad and step mum live in the New Forest so get all kinds of creatures in the garden, including on occasion ponies and deer. They also have a heron which steals their fish from the pond, so they bought fake herons but the real heron just lands equidistant from the fake ones (like a heron triangle) regardless of where they move them.

Ahh yey @upanddowns !

I'm just worried now because she hasn't eaten since 5 pm yesterday. I've put down dry food and wet food. I can't tempt her out with anything. Tbh I think she's depressed from being alone for so long.

Defiantlynot41 · 24/01/2024 17:01

Oh @upanddowns have faith, and maybe get something super tempting (ham, roast chicken, tuna, sardines, lick e lix?). Fingers crossed for you both

We have a variety of animals and birds in the garden, deer have been seen in our road and we have badgers hedgehogs and foxes galore. And 2 cats of our own and 5 NMCs next door

In my childhood our male cat brought back one lone kitten which was adopted by a neighbour and a pregnant female who had kittens in our shed - we kept one when the rest were adopted

Thanks @Defiantlynot41 . Happy to say she's been out 3 times since my last message and has eaten well. Thank God for puppy cctv!! Probably won't see her again today, but will fill up her supplies. I've been mixing tuna in with her food and tempting with all sorts of expensive stuff! Will get lickelix tomorrow.

Defiantlynot41 · 24/01/2024 19:02

@upanddowns I'm so pleased for her and for you.

Lick e lix is marvellous stuff, when DCat1 was poorly with pancreatitis and wouldn't eat for a while, I kept her going with lick e lix, minced prawns and the support of the lovely posters on this thread's predecessors

Thank you. She's been happy with tuna but I've been worrying about it not been a complete food. She's eaten quite a bit of the dried food today too. She definitely needs to put some weight on.

Allergictoironing · 24/01/2024 20:29

Hmm. Tobias has always had somewhat soft poo, and in the last few days I've noticed him farting quite loudly when he uses the tray. Tonight he's just been and the noise was definitely worse and when I managed to get a glimpse of his poo before he buried it, it was definitely closer to liquid than solid. He was also not as keen as usual for his breakfast this morning or his supper this evening.

Going to have to give the vet a call for advice tomorrow if he's not heading back to normal aren't I, and possibly have to take him in?

He seems close to normal in himself - he did eat some supper, came downstairs to use the preferred tray for his poo, had a minor swipe at me when he thought I'd got too close. Maybe a little subdued, but otherwise fine.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 24/01/2024 20:59

@Allergictoironing - give them a call but I wouldn't worry too much. Leroy gets a dodgy tum every now and then and is "just one of those things". Most people won't even be aware because their cat toilets outside. I have Purina Fortiflora which I give him once a day (mixed with a Lick-e-Lix 😁) for a few days.

Supersimkin2 · 24/01/2024 21:51

Here’s one for you Grumpy. Just in case TC needs a minibreak. Ups never banned cats.

MrJinks · 24/01/2024 09:53

Yes - quite common to see them around here (SW London). Admittedly not usually on the front garden wall! See one nearly every day trotting down the road at dusk and often sitting on the neighbour's shed roof during the day. They also occasionally poop on our patio - not so nice!

Yes, it was the garden wall bit that was surprising! 😄

I have a feeling that Picard brought himself.

Quick update that Tobias seems to have got his appetite back this morning. Was waiting for his breakfast, accepted the homage of strokes & bum scritches while eating, polished off all but a few crumbs of his wet and had a fair go at Girlcat's leavings before heading upstairs with a bit of a bounce and a squawk.

Still going to call the vet later this morning just in case, but much relieved.

TheShellBeach · 25/01/2024 09:08

Oh Allergic, I'm so glad Tobias is better today.

VICTORY

The housing association has backed down and we in the sheltered housing get to keep our warden.

I think seeing my post and petition on the village Facebook page really annoyed them. Everyone in the village was outraged and furious, and it made the HA look awful.

(And that's before they saw the raft of emails which flew between us and our local councillors)

Well done @TheShellBeach and Mr Shell! Fantastic result.
