Times you have failed your furry overlords

I have failed mine today. Firstly I had to remove the lap because the rest of my body needed to cook the meal.

To add insult to injury she has become used to licking the juices in the tray the meat is from 🤢 before it goes into the recycling. Today we are having fish, and not that nice cat friendly fish - tuna but boring white fish, just a sniff and look of disdain. She is now lurking hoping that the second packet I open is indeed meat as it should be. Sadly it is not.

How have you failed your furry overlord today?

@Soubriquet I shudder to think how much worse it would be with dogs, if only because they're generally bigger than cats! 🤢

Soubriquet · 11/10/2023 22:20

One of my dogs is actually half the size of my cat so not so bad Grin

the other is only a bit bigger

Catsmere · 11/10/2023 22:31

I knew it would prove to be a good idea to write "generally"! 😆

But the power of those glands is just something else, isn't it?

Catsmere · 12/10/2023 02:12

Oh dear. I have just spent a few minutes on the bed at O2's insistence because she required pets RIGHT NAOW. She's now draped across my leg, and I have moved, because I have to get up and make lunch for the humans. The look she gave me!!!

She'll be even less impressed when I have to go out in a couple of hours.

WomanHereHear · 12/10/2023 02:22

I am failing too much lately. Since I have had my younger children. Just haven’t been able to give the right amount of attention. There was a time where he would get up from my lap himself when he’d had enough but these days I’m having to remove him (prematurely) myself to get up because I have other shit to do. I really feel guilty because he gives me that look too. Like you’re a shit mum.

Unexpecteddrivinginstructor · 12/10/2023 21:20

So reassuring to see that I am not much worse than any other underling. I have again failed by serving carrots to the family, which dcat always believes that she might enjoy, but the reality is always a crushing disappointment. She cannot understand why we would have such evil inedible substances in the house.

This is a former stray who was rescued living under a hedge and starving - now she is a furry overlord who knows exactly what she likes and doesn't.

You are so kind even if you are failing as a catslave right now!

He drools when he's being stroked/cuddled. He's done this all his life, he has no teeth issues, he's just a happy drooler but he's now 14 and he'll shake his head and distribute the saliva all over the nearest surface, stand there with candle like drips of thick saliva so I have to wipe his mouth with a wad of tissue (not unlike a toddler with a runny nose), or worse - get as close to my face as he possibly can when I’m sleeping and drip it into my open mouth 🤮

Mine used to do this. Also nothing wrong with his mouth or teeth, just a happy drooler. He used to sleep by my side and I would have my arm round him. Half the time my arm would be in a puddle of slobber. I'd also have to grab some tissue and wipe his mouth and chest area cos it would be sodden. He also loved nothing more than to stand over me and shake his head as fast as he could from side to side making sure I got showered as much as possible. He also loved standing over me and aiming it right into my mouth as I yawned Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/10/2023 22:49

Our male drools when DD strokes him, he goes into a little closed eyed trance. like a tiny dragon (DD is his Favourite Person On Earth )

At night he;ll jump on the bed and sometimes stands on me , I feel his weight and I know his face is near mine , He purrs . Then shakes his head and cold spit lands on me ,
I am charmed and honoured , obvs .

Catsmere · 12/10/2023 23:09

I gave O2 her flea drops just now. She's hiding under the bed and has apparently sworn she's never speaking to me again.

VikingLady · 12/10/2023 23:09

I am deeply unfeeling, even cruel, to our furry over lords. I will not open the vivarium and allow them to eat the gecko, even though nature quite clearly intends him to be live food for them.

I am ashamed of myself.

sashh · 13/10/2023 03:11

I am ebil.

Mine whines for the window opening, sometimes to go out of it, sometimes just because she wants it open.

So when she starts whining I ask her,"do you want to go out" and if she walks up and down I now she wants to go out.

Sometimes I will let her have the window open so she can sit with her nose out and her bum in the warm, but a draw the line at allowing it while it is snowing.

Yesterday she wanted to go out, I opened the window, as I did so, the three pigeons in the garden flew off. So she didn't want to go out now, but I made her.

Cruel evil mother!!! 🙀

LittleBrownJug · 14/10/2023 00:39

Wouldn’t let her climb out of the top of the open sash window, straight out onto the street two storeys below.

She has a fully-functioning cat flap leading into a verdant garden overflowing with catnip. But I am utterly unreasonable, of course.

I removed the ancient skanky cushions that she sleeps on and replaced them with beautiful wool filled cushions - designed to be warm, supportive and generally a lovely place for an aging cat to sleep on. (cost nearly £100 for the two)
She has refused to get on and miaowed plaintively. We're in a stand off currently where I have replaced one skanky cushion upstairs that she is sleeping on and I have left one lovely cushion on the chair by the woodburner and am hoping the lure of the fire will persuade her to try it

Put the new cushions somewhere awkward and mutter about taking them to the charity shop
That usually works

I didn't turn the light off until nearly 11pm last night. O2 was stamping around complaining about it. (O1 was asleep and snoring under the bed. She doesn't live to a timetable like O2.)

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 14/10/2023 11:43

Dh fixing a hole in the roof and had a ladder up into the loft - 4 cats decided to follow him. Apparently they can get up a ladder but not down. They were not happy at the way they ended up coming down clamped underneath an armpit. After a thrilling chase around the loft.
I then proceed to give them a bath as they were filthy.
Ni cuddles for us last night and very stinky poos.

Mumsgirls · 14/10/2023 21:40

Furry lord Eric kept biting the fight injury on his back, so it would not heal.
I sinned by daring to put a padded collar on him and keeping him in.
other crime is to take him off Felix and put him on ridiculously expensive hyper allergenic food. He has been in an epic sulk for days.

Vitriolinsanity · 14/10/2023 23:10

I objected to having my hair groomed at 3am. So I had a snout shoved in my ear instead.

Humans are so ungrateful ... poor little cat wakes up so early to get human looking nice and what thanks do they get? 😿

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/10/2023 01:21

I have blocked up the Space-Under-The -Kitchen-Units that Male Cat likes to slope under .
I am unreasonable enough to have broken a small glass and though I've cleared it up I cannot say 100% that some of the glass hasn't gone into the gap .

I was reaching for salt as one of my piercings has gone a bit manky so wanted to bathe it .
Even if my ear swells to the size of a melon , it will not be anywhere near as bad as MaleCat getting glass in his paw
MaleCat goes out and could concievably pick up an injury . But on my floor it'll be MY FAULT .

Little blighter better not step on my ear tonight Hmm

Big cat is VERY upset with us today. We have removed the wardrobe in the spare room as we are painting it and getting it ready for the baby. His own personal bedroom is being taken over and he is not happy about it.

Wait till Big Cat cottons onto the fact you haven't weaned the baby and put Free to Good Home adverts up in the Post Office when it's 7 weeks old .

Original OverLord was disgusted that I kept DC 1 and had another one 2.6 years later ! Dreadful mothering instincts from me . She had 3 littters before she was sent to Rescue and they were all ready to go by 6 weeks
