Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

That's another week and a half!

Must feel weird that on one hand, you collect & deliver cats for the rescue, and on the other hand you can't collect your own on their behalf!

Toddlerteaplease · 08/09/2023 12:40

@Allergictoironing it's a bit bizarre, but it's the current owner who has refused. It's so long because I want at least a day to settle her in before I go back to work. And I'm on three long days this week and busy with plans that I can't change next weekend. So better to wait.

Also having to travel for a long time on a very hot day is probably not good for her.

Hopefully she will be used to travelling from her showgirl days!

Toddlerteaplease · 08/09/2023 13:02

Hopefully! All
My girls have been really good travellers so far. So hopefully fourth time lucky. She's rebooked into the cats. And will be spayed as quickly as possible!

I'm hoping she takes to Magics Teepee and igloo. Cheddar has never touched them and I really do t want to get rid of them. They've been washed and new bedding put in.

When my last boy came home, he hid in an igloo for two weeks. Then never went near it again.

Whereas mine fight over who gets Igloo rights. Girlcat is sneaky - when Tobias is in there she clambers over it so it collapses on him & he shoots out, then she gets in. She used to do that with Boycat too - he was a fair bit bigger than her or Tobias so he literally couldn't fit in with the top squashed down!

Still on track for Penelope's arrival on Monday. But the breeder has informed the rescue that she has earmites. Which will mean she needs to stay in the spare room for up to two weeks. Poor Cheddar will have to wait a bit longer to merry her friend. The breeder is treating her with a spot on, but apparently it won't be good enough. Fingers crossed that it does work!

Poor Penelope! At least you know in advance. Poor Cheddar too, waiting for her new companion.

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 15/09/2023 23:34

One of my cats had them and went bananas when I tried to flush out his ears with the prescribed fluid! Hope Penelope is more docile. If any consolation, my other cat didn't pick them up from him even though they weren't separated.

Kittensat36 · 15/09/2023 23:51

Thornit powder. All the way. My DP's SIL's Springer Spaniel had recurrent, vicious ear mites. Sorted them out. The other half of the bottle I gave to a colleague whose cat was also bad (to the point that surgery was being considered) to remove the outer ear). Cleared it up nicely and he just needed the occasional pinch to maintain healthy hear-holes.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/09/2023 06:36

Apparently all of the cats who have come from this person have had them. So not a surprise. Snorg had them once. She was fine with the drops. No one told me that she should be separated then. Don't think Maia got them.

Abs the spot on she's had, may have been effective!

Is today the day @Toddlerteaplease ? I do hope so (and that Cheddar takes to her)

Toddlerteaplease · 18/09/2023 12:28

Today is the day. I've just arrived at our meeting place a park and ride car park and I'm heading on the bus into oxford to wait for rescue lady to call to say she's on her way!

Ohhhh hope all goes well Toddler, and Cheddar and Penelope love each other on sight.😻🤞

Toddlerteaplease · 18/09/2023 13:03

Fingers crossed. As long as they rub along together without issue that's enough. Cheddar is definitely lonely on her own.

Clarich007 · 18/09/2023 13:17

Good luck.

I hope so. Cheddar is the most chilled out and placid feline you could meet.

Turns out that she's actually only 3 and apparently is very shy. But I can deal with that.

Is she home?

Toddlerteaplease · 18/09/2023 16:22

She's 10 minutes away. Is apparently absolutely tiny and unbelievably cute
