Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

Her coat looks fluffier and softer she looks very settled
I look forward to see the pics of them both Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 14/11/2023 20:21

Yes. It's soft and soy and lost its spikey look. Needs a good brush at the minute though. I had the both draped over me the other night. I couldn't move.

Is that a complaint or a gloat?

Toddlerteaplease · 14/11/2023 23:19

@Ellmau I'm not sure. Penelope likes me to lie on my back. So she can curl up under my arm. I don't find it the most comfortable position. To be honest though, I was more amazed to find Cheddar curled up snoozing on my chest. She has never managed to do that, without making biscuits on my face, drooling all over me. And generally making her presence felt.

@Scampuss sad but true. Magic and Maia ran up bills of £25k. Not all breed related issues though. Magic's breathing wasn't great. But the others have all been ok. Cheddar has not been a problem yet and hopefully, now her ears are sorted neither will Penelope. Wish I could give Molly a home though!

First attempt at claw cutting was fairly successful. Despite some growling. Need to do them in better light, as they don't show up against her fur.

The parental units are visiting. My mum says that Penelope looks significantly better than last time she saw her. Penelope is letting my mum make a fuss of her, but won't entertain me! Charming!

Check mum's pockets... bet you find a dreamie or two 😂

How is Cheddar doing, still unbothered by this small grey thing?

Toddlerteaplease · 21/11/2023 22:13

Cheddar seems completely unbothered by her.

Scampuss · 21/11/2023 22:54

Unbothered is good.

It's great she's friendly with visitors, and clear she's well settled.

It's interesting that your mum thinks Penelope looks better than when they last visited. When I saw your photo on the Then and Now thread

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/the_litter_tray/4946416-then-and-now

I thought Penelope looked more confident and alert in the 2nd more recent photo.

And well done to Cheddar too on being her usual lovely self.

@nettie434 that first photo was the first day she came home. She took up residence in the litter tray!

They both happily sit on me in very close proximity. And Cheddar was lying sprawled out in the landing the other day, tummy on show and Penelope was on the top stair. So I don't think Cheddar is to bothered.

She's just pounced on my feet. None of mine have ever done that! She's loving having the extra people in the house. She's really come out of her shell.

You've also said none of yours have climbed onto windowsills before. Congratulations on rehoming a real cat 😂

She does sound adorable though.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/11/2023 22:44

She's a shock to the system!

Exhausted! Now Penelope is more confident and coming downstairs during the day, I've got some better pictures.

They are both looking very comfortable Toddler.

Pixiedust1234 · 27/11/2023 23:21

Ohhhh...that first picture is purrfection indeed. So close, so sleepy, so not bothered ❤

Absolutely lovely to see.

Scampuss · 27/11/2023 23:27

So lovely to see her so relaxed ❤️

Bagpuss1200 · 28/11/2023 08:28

Oh so lovely, gorgeous photo's! Both look very content. Keep the pictures coming! xx

Toddlerteaplease · 28/11/2023 11:19

Their punch ups seem to be limited to the 10pm Zoomies. And they rub along fairly happily the rest of the time. They certainly sleep closer together than Cheddar did with Magic. And there is no friction when they are both climbing on me.

I wouldn't be surprised if the "punch ups" are genuine play fighting. I have film of my DM's cat Penny play fighting in the garden with her friend Cuddles. To the untrained eye it looks quite serious, and you can clearly see an actual bit of fur flying! They loved doing it, and would seek each other out to see if the other one was up for itGrin
