Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

That definitely sounds like play fighting.

Also sounds like Penelope is teaching Cheddar how to cat properly 😹

Toddlerteaplease · 28/11/2023 21:35

I've come home to a couple of photos of Magic & Maia knocked over.....

Does that mean you have been forgiven for the crime of not ensuring adequate supplies of Sheba? 😀

Toddlerteaplease · 29/11/2023 21:48

Unless she's lulling me into a false sense of security, possibly!

So adorable.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/12/2023 16:27

So Penelope likes to sleep with her chin on my arm. Cheddar moved herself off her pillow to copy Penelope! So cute!!

That is super cute 😻

That's amazing progress, and so cute. You will never be able to get up for a cup of tea again.

Guiltypleasures001 · 05/12/2023 19:53

I always look forward to pics of the possums Toddler
Please carry on with a new thread, when this one is filled up Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 05/12/2023 21:14

I can't believe this thread has so many posts. Penelope is turning into a very bossy little kitty!

Oh, how adorable!! 💕

Bad news is Cheddar might copy Penelope with real cat-ness type things, like jumping onto counters and window sills 🙀

Toddlerteaplease · 05/12/2023 21:52

She's taken to sitting in the middle of the coffee table, which is a new thing!

Yes we definitely need a new thread when this one is full, I love tuning in for the latest antics of Cheddar and Penelope!

LilacpointMummy · 06/12/2023 09:01

Yes please for a new thread - I love hearing what they are up to!

They are so different from my Siamese babies, who are regularly found dangling from curtain poles and can jump from the ground to a human shoulder 😸

Allergictoironing · 06/12/2023 09:15

Penelope looks more like a cat and less like a soft toy every photo! She really is adorable.

Before you started posting with your first 2, I hadn't seen a Persian I liked the look of. But either you have found the exceptions to the rule, or your influence on them has affected their general demeanor, as I've loved all 4 of yours. Possibly because they are allowed to be as "cat" as they want (or not), and aren't treated the way many are. I was the same with poodles, hated them due to their behaviours, until my friend started showing & breeding them & I found out what they are like when they aren't treated like spoiled precious babies by their (usually elderly & female) owners.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/12/2023 17:15

I think I just got lucky with my four. Although they all had flat faces. They don't have that horrible 'overbred' look about them. Where their skull looks squashed. They've all been good examples of the more modern style Persian.

Penelope has absolutely blossomed in the last two weeks. She's very vocal, and makes her demands clear. She's fed up of me obsessively checking the temperature of her ears though. But she's due a vet check next week. So I'll get them to have a look. Though I've no reason to think she's got another issue l.

Cheddar is just her usual adorable self. Can't believe I got so lucky with my four!

Here she is. Thinking she might be about to sit on my knee. But I have to go to work in a bit.

Oh yes! Do please carry on with another thread, Toddler. That look from Penelope suggests that you are needed more at home for cat duties (and yes I do know that you work in the NHS but suspect Penelope abd Cheddar don't think it's as much of a priority as they are!)

Pixiedust1234 · 06/12/2023 19:44

Penelope looks more like a cat and less like a soft toy every photo!

I agree with this statement. Is it me or does she have shorter legs compared to her body size, almost like a munchkin?

And another vote for a new thread. I love seeing them 💕

Toddlerteaplease · 06/12/2023 20:38

She does have shorter legs than a proper cat. Persians are a slightly different shape to proper cats. Which is why it's such a shock that she can jump! I'm really touched that people like reading about them. It's lively to k is they are loved.

@Allergictoironing I think treating and spoiling is exactly what all of mine have needed! Only one had a decent start.

OP posts:
Allergictoironing · 07/12/2023 06:46

There's treating and spoiling, and treating a pet as though they are a human baby or even a living doll.

One example is an aunt of mine. She had a toy poodle that was VILE; she insisted he came with her and my uncle to every single event like family engagement parties, even weddings etc. He would sit on her lap at all times, and snap at anyone who came near, and if she actually left him for a few moments to go to the loo or something he'd scream as loudly as he could until she returned. Gods I hated that dog, as did everybody.
