Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

Penelope seems to be making herself very much at home, which is lovely as I think you said she's not used to having a whole house. Don't worry, Cheddar, we all know you are top cat!

learieonthewildmoor · 11/10/2023 17:25

We still get some swiping and growling and it’s been 18 months or so.
I’m sorry to say I’ve had a good laugh at you finding Penelope on the bench. All these years as a cat owner and you’ve never had this!

Toddlerteaplease · 11/10/2023 17:39

@learieonthewildmoor she's my 4th Persian. And none of the others have been jumpers. Obviously they lulled me into a false sense of security. Will measure the window for flat cat screens as soon as I've shaken off this migraine. She's got her final vet check for her spay later on.

Temperature has come down completely for the first time ever!!! Vets delighted to see her, and sign her off.

Brilliant news.

felinelucky · 11/10/2023 20:09

Ah, that's great news. She might have been feeling really awful with her ear problem in the beginning. Great to think she's a comfortable kitty now.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/10/2023 21:12

Yes possibly, and because no one knew what she was like when well I had no baseline.

She came out to meet the cat sitter this morning. She's getting there.

Fabulous 😻

Heart melted. Again. Smile

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 14/10/2023 23:24

Cat in sink = running water fan. Have you got a cat fountain?

SequentialAnalyst · 14/10/2023 23:54

And may I congratulate you, @Toddlerteaplease, on a magnificent collection of rubber ducks.🛀<--a bath. To my genuine surprise, there is no rubber duck emoticon.

Yes our sink-climbing cat's absolutely favourite thing is water play. But if you are thinking of a water fountain, may I suggest you look for the sturdiest one you can find. Mine 'played' with his so successfully he destroyed it in a matter of days. Exactly the same thing happened with the next one I got except it was a matter of hours. So now I just turn the bath tap on for him at a dribble and let him splash around in there every now and then. Also he comes up to the kitchen sink tap for a drink when I'm doing the washing up.

SequentialAnalyst · 15/10/2023 02:08

DD's DCats insist on drinking from proper glasses. They are on the floor, dotted all over the house, and kept topped up Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 15/10/2023 06:07

I do have a water fountain, cheddar loves it. But the glasses are more popular at the moment. I've never seen Penelope use the fountain. My parents cat would insist on his twice daily tap drink.

Ah, it's nice to see her feeling safe to potter around and explore her new home. She's really getting comfortable, isn't she?

Toddlerteaplease · 15/10/2023 10:08

Yes. And I feel that we've really bonded the last few days. My parents are coming later, so will be interesting to see how she copes with more people. I might join her in the wardrobe. 3 adults in my tiny house is to crowded.

I actually feel like we should all have a secret wardrobe for hiding in when friends and relations come round

SequentialAnalyst · 15/10/2023 12:43

And every outdoor cat prefers what, to humans, looks like a manky puddle to drink from.

I hesitate to say this, but I happen to know that Midnight the Magnificent Hunter, and other cats who eat a lot of self-caught food, get enough water from eating their catchConfused

Toddlerteaplease · 16/10/2023 22:04

Penelope is getting used to visitors. She's currently squeaking at my mum for treats. My mum is talking in a real baby voice at her.
