Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

Dear Magic. I still think of that brilliant photo of her at the groomer's under the shower, looking very small, very wet and very cross.

Bagpuss1200 · 06/10/2023 08:44

Aww Magic was such a beautiful girl. I'm am so so happy that all is going in the right direction for Penelope. Please keep us updated with regular photo's of Cheddar and Penelope, they make my day!

Toddlerteaplease · 06/10/2023 08:46

@JoanOgden this one?!! I have more.
Penelope came to say hello when I was in the bathroom this morning. That is exactly what Cheddar does. It was so sweet. Almost made me late for my probably quite boring study day.

Oh I loved that one too! It made me realise what 'big fur' Persians have.

Nice to read Penelope is getting properly settled in.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/10/2023 10:33

She squeaks to say hello.

Adorable!

JoanOgden · 06/10/2023 13:29

Yes, those are the Magic photos I was thinking about! She looks like an angry owl Grin

I've moved her litter tray and since there have been no accidents. I think she knows where it is. Completely shout off access to the room it was in. Hopefully she'll be happy to share with Cheddar. I've never had an issue with sharing before. It's a big tray.

Remembered I had this, the illness is remarkable 😂She's also the same size as the walrus.

Lol. She is a walruscat.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/10/2023 03:29

Was out all day yesterday and Penelope was very vocal about my rudeness in leaving them to fend for themselves all day. Got up for a wee and she's just come running into the bathroom squeaking at me. 🤣

Got moth on the bed demanding strokes. And I really want to go back to sleep. 🤣

Aww, I love to see cats on the bed.
Sounds as if she is settling in well.

SequentialAnalyst · 08/10/2023 16:13

On the very rare occasion that our childhood cat (black moggy Domestic Shorthair, named Julie) deigned to sleep on the end of my bed, I would lie rigid trying to get to sleep without moving. Of course, I couldn't manage it, and of course, she got off immediately as I knew she would.

She would sit on laps, though. Except that of poor DF! In a vain attempt to get her to do so, a couple of times he tried sitting there with DM's apron on - Julie still wouldn't stay on his lap Sad

Penelope Ad her first foray into the garden. Lasted about 1 minute! I doubt she's r ever been outside before. She's certainly not used to having the run of a whole house.

I've been supervised washing up and she's finally had a treat.

It's a very slow process but we are getting there.

@Toddlerteaplease Oh that's just soooo sweeeeet 💗

Toddlerteaplease · 09/10/2023 22:50

I did have to laugh when she was supervising me in the kitchen, that's exactly what Magic did.

Help, the girls are fighting! Nothing horrendous, but more aggression than previously. Some swiping and chasing. Is Thais normal. 3 weeks in and it's the first time I've seen it. But Penelope is out more than she was.

Maybe just sibling rivalry. My two rub along quite happily and will sometimes groom each other, but even after a year, there will be the occasional fisticuffs and a bit of fluff on the floor. I'm sure they're just negotiating some boundaries.
