Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

Vest!

I can't find one small enough for her.

So it would appear that her hiding place is no longer behind the sofa. Need to track it down before tomorrow morning. Or we won't get to the vet!

I’m getting the impression she’s a bit cleverer than the other Persians you’ve had…

Toddlerteaplease · 01/10/2023 11:23

@OccasionalHope yes. I'm getting that impression as well. I found her in the one place I hadn't thought to look. She's stared growling at Cheddar so tomorrow can't come soon enough! Hopefully she'll calm down and become the mini version of Cheddar that I suspect she may be; ridiculously cuddly and vocal.

Cats are like DC. They never turn out like you expect when you first get them Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 01/10/2023 14:33

It's different this time. When I got the first two, I had no idea what Persians were like. With cheddar, I knew what she was like within 30 seconds of picking her up for a cuddle. Penelope is proving trickier to get to know, as I'm not seeing much of her. But hopefully she'll be calmer when she's spayed. I have no idea how she coped as a show cat.

I know very little about cat breeds. Am old, nearly all the cats I've known have been moggiess, which I believe are now called Britsh Shorthairs and, I suppose, British Longhairs, though there were hardly any fluffy-type cats when I were a lass. In my young day, there were the occasional Persian, and the occasional Siamese, but they were the only breeds I knew of, apart from Manx, which everyone had heard of and few had seen (1950s=60s)

Toddlerteaplease · 01/10/2023 22:54

British short hairs are a specific breed. I think you mean a Domestic short/ long haired. I had absolutely no clue. Until I got my PFP's (precious first Persians) that the breeds all had different personality traits. Or that there were so many breeds!

Well, I mean moggies Wink
I had never heard of a Bengal till recently, but I know not to get one Grin

SequentialAnalyst · 01/10/2023 23:59

Or do I mean Main Coon? <wanders off lost in a senior moment>

Bagpuss1200 · 02/10/2023 08:15

Good luck today at the vet Penelope and be a good girl for mum!

LostCats · 02/10/2023 08:44

@SequentialAnalyst 🤣🤣🤣 definitely think hard about getting a Bengal. They are a ‘vibrant’ breed. I do love my 1/4 Bengal so so much. But he’s not got much going on upstairs other than ‘kill-chat-kisses-eat-sleep-scratch’.

Best wishes little Penelope Pickle!!

Thought I'd have to ring and tell them we were going to be late. I couldn't find her! She was in the closed wardrobe.🤔 Alsi need to be careful about opening the small hatch on the carrier, as Houdini can fit through it. 🤣

Ah. She is so pretty isn’t she

YetAnotherSpartacus · 02/10/2023 09:14

She knows.

I think you might mean domestic shorthairs (or longhairs).

As opposed to foreign or alien shorthairs, lions, tigers and Bengals.

Bagpuss1200 · 02/10/2023 09:32

Oh Penelope!! You are keeping your mum on her toes!!!

TokyoSushi · 02/10/2023 09:41

Good luck today lovely Penelope, and Mum!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/10/2023 09:41

As opposed to foreign or alien shorthairs ... and Bengals.

Don't say this within earshot of Suella Braverman - she'll ship them all off to Rwanda (mind you, considering Bengals 😹)

Toddlerteaplease · 02/10/2023 09:48

Still has a high temperature. But she was quite cross this morning. So hopefully that's all it is. Vet happy to go ahead as she's otherwise well.

Scampuss · 02/10/2023 10:09

Hope it all goes well for her today.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/10/2023 11:49

All fine and she's just going into recovery. I'm relived it's out of the way. Now hit teeth to sort.

Scampuss · 02/10/2023 12:06
