Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

Ha ha, I think she's extremely nosy and didn't like something going on in her house. That she didn't have a full part in. She reminds me of Lady Catherine De Bough. "What are you taking of? I must have my part in the conversation"

Penelope wasn't supposed to be a challenge. She was supposed to be a cat in good health, who just needed spaying!

Can't go to work tonight. Cheddar has my arm and Penelope is sitting on my legs. I'm truly incapussitated.

Ah that's lovely @Toddlerteaplease!

One day we must get you to write an analysis of the similarities/differences between toddlers and cats Grin

Get them to call your work and meow in sick for you 😃

Those antibiotic injections work wonders in my experience (and far easier than hovering over a dish of cat food trying to shove pill fragments in the direction of your cat's tongue).

Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2023 18:01

I'm a pro at giving pills to cats. The late Maia had eight a day. But this little madam is a bit more lively. And she doesn't know me well yet!

Not sure the twice daily ear drops are helping our bonding.

Lovely, they’re sharing you.

Or possibly Penelope is making sure you can’t give her any more drops 😀

Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2023 18:54

Oh she got them. I took them upstairs on the off chance she came up stairs. 😂

I'm glad the trajectory is in the right direction. Fingers crossed that once the ear and teeth issues are over with, she will be on the home run. Those issues seem to be more a consequence of neglect rather than overall ill health. It will be a relief to have the spay over with, too.

I think it is very positive that the two furballs are sharing you, and the bed, at the same time.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2023 22:37

Yes. It's definitely neglect. She seems otherwise ok. I just need to get her sorted then adopted and insured and I can relax. And also have full control to do what I think is best for her.

@Toddlerteaplease you both seem to be doing brilliantly. However, you have been very stressed - and may have cortisol going round your body? (I am no medic, though) Remember to take care of yourself as well as the DCats. BrewBrew

nettie434 · 30/09/2023 05:40

Reading about Penelope's exploits, I was struck by how, despite all the stresses for you, Toddler, of being caught up in this triangle when it comes to treatment decisions, the beneficiary has been Penelope herself.

She is now getting used to living with you and Cheddar and won't have the disruption of moving again, which she would have if she'd been fostered. Her resistance to the ear drops probably explains why the ear mite problem had become chronic. The breeder just didn't have your experience at coping with lack of compliance with medication!

Hopefully, you're over the worst of it once Penelope is spayed.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/09/2023 06:50

The breeder just didn't bother treating her at all! Apparently all the cats the rescue have had from that breeder have had them. She's actually been pretty good with the drops. But to quote James Herriot. If you can't catch your patient there isn't much wrong with them. 😂 Hopefully the rescue are happy to go ahead on Monday.

nettie434 · 30/09/2023 07:05

Oh that's awful about the breeder. I assumed it was because Penelope didn't like the drops. Fingers crossed for Monday!

Toddlerteaplease · 30/09/2023 08:19

She's been an absolute super star with them. But now she's feeling better she's not so keen. She's hiding again this morning. How on earth she can get behind the sofa, I have no idea. I think having so much space has completely overwhelmed her.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/09/2023 11:40

Just work up and was worried I'd not seen her this morning. And she was curled up fast asleep at the bottom of the bed. 🥰

How good are you at impersonating a shark attack? Might be the only way to get those ear drops in... 😂 But what a lovely thing to wake up to. That's trust 🤗

Scampuss · 30/09/2023 13:47

Aww, that's so lovely.

SequentialAnalyst · 30/09/2023 14:15

I have a huge beam on my face after your last update Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 30/09/2023 14:18

She's hiding again now I'm up though. My parents are coming to stay in a couple of weeks and I'm really concerned about how she's going to react. My house is tiny, and three adults is way to much as it is.

Rescue happy to go ahead with spay on Monday. Phew

SequentialAnalyst · 30/09/2023 17:24

@Toddlerteaplease she knows where to go to feel safe, though? Behind the sofa?
When dear departed Midnight arrived as a kitten, my own DC, plus half the kids in the street, assembled in the house to get a look, though I did my best to explain. She hid behind the sofa for 3 days Grin

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 30/09/2023 17:43

Great news!

Scampuss · 30/09/2023 18:11

Thank goodness for that.

Hope it all goes smoothly for her.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/09/2023 18:54

Rescue were going to post me a Betsy for her but forgot. So that will cost them more money.
