Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

Oh I do hope you get to adopt her she's a real character!

Toddlerteaplease · 28/09/2023 15:13

She's currently hiding behind the soda. It's her first foray downstairs. So I'll leave her too it. I'm on nights tonight so she can explore after dark..

Definitely feeling better. She's currently giving me the run around and hiding under the bed with Cheddar. She need her drops!

Hiding under the bed with Cheddar

Does plotting against you count as bonding?

Toddlerteaplease · 28/09/2023 19:28

I think so.

I'm glad she's feeling better and seems to be making friends with Cheddar!

Pixiedust1234 · 28/09/2023 19:45

She's adorable and soooo diddy 😍

My rescue was always small (2.35kg) but when she stretched out on my legs her bum would be up against my tummy and her head resting on my feet...and I'm 5ft8 with long legs. I swear blind she dislocated all her joints to do that 😮

Toddlerteaplease · 28/09/2023 19:55

I've left them both loose in the house. So hopefully I won't come home to carnage. Cheddar seems happier now that Penelope is out. I do think she was happy with her being shut in the room. She sniffed her bum earlier. So hopefully 🤞🏼

@Pixiedust1234 she has a bizarrely long tail!

Sounds like they are deciding they might like each other!

Pixiedust1234 · 28/09/2023 20:13

Oh good luck. I hope you've hidden all the food somewhere safe. My DDs Exs cat was very good at finding stuff to eat that wasn't put away properly. Although what person would think they had to lock away a fruit cake...

SequentialAnalyst · 29/09/2023 02:23

I was once accused by my DM of eating all the almonds off a Dundee cake. I hadn't. It was one of our regular NMC (not my cat) visitors! Just the almonds Grin

All calm when I got home. Penelope sitting in the top step of the scratching post., Now avoiding ear drops behind the sofa. Wondering if someone has preed on the bath mat or it just needs a wash. It's dry but a slight smell of cat pee on it. Though probably from when cheddar had cystitis a couple of weeks ago. She likes to sit on it.

It would be damp if it had happened overnight.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2023 08:39

It's not. I'm ashamed to say that the mat doesn't get washed very often. She took one look at me and has hidden. I have no Idea where she is!

Ooh! Hot tip I learned on the litter tray - biologic washing powder for cat wee. I’ve never been able to get it out even with loads of vinegar and dettol wash etc etc. one biologic tablet - done!

Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2023 08:44

She's in the tiniest gap behind the sofa!

LostCats · 29/09/2023 09:14

Which means your likelihood of success with the ear drops is slim. She’s a clever girl 😁

Pixiedust1234 · 29/09/2023 10:41

Sounds like flushing at spaying time is going to have to be properly considered by the rescue now. No point on insisting a medication being given if you can't even catch the little tinker.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2023 12:33

@LostCats g she's only missed one dose in 10 days, I think that's not bad!

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2023 12:50

@Pixiedust1234 she's had a shot of long lasting antibiotics. Being stuck in the middle was really stressing me out, so I got a second opinion. They agreed to give antibiotics as it had been going on so long. Although she was already much improved by the time we'd got there! But the rescue is wrong. Drops is first line. I checked with one of our ENT consultants what we would do in humans. 😂

Now Penelope is loose in the house, cheddar is back to her usual super affectionate self. No sulking, no sad faces or giving me daggers.

I tell you what, Boone is on steroids and missing one dose in 10 days is amazing!

Toddlerteaplease · 29/09/2023 14:13

I'm a paediatric nurse, I don't give up easily 😂 only gave up today as was post nights and needed my bed.

Hmmmm, do you think she was wondering if you were going to confine her as well and decided on the puss in boots eyes?

You certainly like challenges, what with your job and the rescue/cats 😂
