Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

Ooh, but not actually a polydactyl?

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2023 20:47

No. I'm trying to work out of one foot has a slight Cleft in between the toes. She fully stretches them out and they are quite big for such a tiny cat.

She's just ventured out of her room
and into the bathroom, came back in jumped on me and quacked. So cute

Quacked 😃

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2023 21:56

Omg she squeaks/ quacks if I talk to her!

If she's as vocal as Cheddar, I'd better invest in some loop ear plugs. 😂😂

Loving the updates, Toddler, keep 'em coming!

Toddlerteaplease · 24/09/2023 09:41

Ear drops were quite a battle this morning. Still very shy but coming out of her she'll slowly.

Scampuss · 24/09/2023 14:29

I think a 'battle' is a good thing as she learns she can assert herself and not just submit.

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 24/09/2023 14:40

Do you make the same noises back to her - that's what I do when my cats meow and trill in my direction. I've never had a quacker though!

Toddlerteaplease · 24/09/2023 16:35

@Scampuss yes I agree. Though when i need go to work it's not overly convenient she's as slippery as an eel. And because she's so tiny, it's difficult to get a firm hold on her. 😂😂 both food bowls completely empty this morning for the first time.

The late magic started out mute, then turned into a quacker followed by shouting!

Please all keep
Your paws crossed that she's apyrexial tomorrow, and is fit for spaying +- ear flush.

Scampuss · 24/09/2023 22:23

All fingers and paws crossed for her 🤞🏼

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 24/09/2023 22:25

Crossed paws for you!

Toddlerteaplease · 25/09/2023 08:18

Cheddar has also finally claimed Magic's teepee. I think the arrival of Penelope has made her realise that Magic isn't coming back. 😰😰 And that she's number 1 in the pecking order.

Aww Cheddar you are such a beautiful girl xxx

nettie434 · 25/09/2023 08:48

Enjoy the teepee lovely Cheddar!

Toddlerteaplease · 25/09/2023 09:34

Temperature still raised. Probably due to her ears. Vet happy to go ahead with spaying and ear flush. But let the rescue know the new cost and they are absolutely refusing to let her have her ears flushed as they want antibiotics. And do t want to go ahead with the spay. Im absolutely furious with the rescue.

OP posts:
YetAnotherSpartacus · 25/09/2023 09:40

Why don't they want to go ahead with the spay???

Toddlerteaplease · 25/09/2023 09:50

The rescue are refusing as she thinks it's not a good idea with the temperature. The vet is happy, I trust their judgement. And as a paediatric nurse have some medical knowledge.

Ah OK - so it is something for the future then. I did wonder!

It sounds very frustrating.

Scampuss · 25/09/2023 10:10

Oh crikey, that does sound very frustrating.

Allergictoironing · 25/09/2023 10:16

I can sort of understand their point as she's still their responsibility, but they are being a bit over cautious when the vet says it's fine.

Their choice I suppose as they are paying. The antibiotics should bring the temp down a bit more at least, reducing a very slim chance of problems to an even slimmer one - think we're talking sort of 4% chance to 2% I'm guessing, something in that ballpark anyway. Then if the temp is down enough to spay but there's still infection there, they can always flush then or when she has the dental.

But yes very frustrating for you. Plus the ear drdops battle going on longer, and poor Pickle with uncomfortable ears for longer. And fingers crossed she doesn't come into season during the wait, that would be a real pain!

Toddlerteaplease · 25/09/2023 10:21

3 different vets have said the exact same thing.
