Keep your paws crossed that Penelope (also to be known as Pickle) will be right for Cheddar and arrive soon.
I'm a bit confused by her story, but she's an ex show cat. So hopefully will be healthy.
She's not yet in the rescue so we do t k ow her personality. But from what I've seen as show cats. They are pretty docile.

The rescue told me about her when O told them of Magic's death. And when I got to work that night. We had a patient called Penelope. So I take it as a sign!

I'm trying to speed it up a bit but the rescue is busy.

Currently having a Cheddar and bacon crisp bake for tea. Cheddar is very upset!

Put some pickle on it to even the score!

Toddlerteaplease · 22/09/2023 18:47

Ha ha didn't think of that!

I would much rather cats weren't treated as disposable commodities by breeders, but as long as they are then I'd much rather the cats who are no longer wanted are re-homed through a reputable rescue with proper checks and support for adopters, and not sold on for profit.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/09/2023 19:57

@Scampuss you said exactly what I meant!!

Watching last nights ambulance on her bed. Cheddar just sat quietly watching us and looking a bit sad.

Tiny toe beans 💗

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2023 04:38

She looks like she has thumbs, but isn't polydactyl.

Amazed to discover her sitting on the windowsill this morning. It's quite high and. None of the others have made it to that one. There is nothing to climb on to get there. Better get some flat cat screens for the kitchen!

She seems to be settling in!

Is Cheddar looking happier yet?

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 23/09/2023 16:14

When you're used to older cats, the sprightliness of a young puss can be quite a surprise!

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2023 16:16

I was sitting on the bed with her last night, and Cheddar was in the room with us. Penelope seemed very on edge and was visibly twitchy which worried me. Possibly anxiety. As I've not seen her do it before or since.
I'm just concerned about what else has been covered up by the previous owner, given the ear infection and the state of her teeth. I was really hoping for a well cat! I've had enough of the vets.

The rescue are rightly concerned about the unexpected costs.

The nervousness does sound typical when two cats are being introduced. I think you were unusually fortunate with Cheddar and Snorg as it's not typical in my experience for cats to accept one another straight away. It usually takes at least four weeks for them to accept each other as 'part of the furniture' - they have to take on the same 'household smell'. You're doing well not to have had a fight yet!

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 23/09/2023 16:22

The ear and teeth issues are fixable, and should be a one-off cost now she is being properly looked after.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2023 16:24

Yes it's thrown me completely as cheddar is so placid. I thought she would be. 'Ok im the boss but you can stay! I shouldn't have let Cheddar eat her food though. She's not swiped or lashed out though.

Was worried the twitching was something neurological.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2023 16:25

Yes, that's what I'm hoping. That she just needs a sort out, better diet and she'll thrive.

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 23/09/2023 16:33

Hopefully it's just 'alert' twitching if it's only happening in Cheddar's presence. It would be happening all the time, including during sleep, if it was neurological.

Scampuss · 23/09/2023 16:34

Oh it definitely is a shock taking on a youngster after being used to oldies! My latest was around a year old, semi-feral, feisty, so very different to my last cat, a sensible bombproof old boy! Latest is around 4 now and still very 'lively'!

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 23/09/2023 16:37

Yes - I remember wondering where my girl was when she first arrived aged about 6 months - she was parading on top of the ajar living room door! Had to rewind myself to the 90s when I had a kitten who spent most of her time trying to reach the ceiling (the cat whose cat-shaped hole new-girl was filling 16 years later).

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2023 16:49

I've been watching her in cat cam when I'm at work. Definitely no twitching. I suspect the full force of her personality is yet to be unleashed. Something tells me she is going to be as full on as Cheddar is. Which will be lovely but annoying at times.

Just from her pictures I think she is a tiny cat with a huge personality (Persianality)!

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2023 19:53

I suspect so. She's obviously been up and down off the windowsill as she's eaten.

She's got thumbs (kind of) 😂😂
