He was still asleep, despite me getting up & moving around upstairs.

Kloppy had to go to the V.E.T yesterday. He had what I thought was a bite under his chin but turned out to be an abscess 😔 €75 later he came home, poor boy 🙄

Really fucked myself up though, just recovering from abdominal surgery and am not supposed to lift anything over 5kg...that fat bastard is at least 5.5kg 😱😂

LostCats · 15/06/2023 07:58

Oh dear @PollyCreo, are you ok?

Ah yes. The summer abscesses.
So far I think we’ve spent £400 at the vet this month alone. Sodding cats.
Eko came home at 6.15pm one night bleeding out the eye. Vet closed at 6pm. Of course. Emergency vet. That was expensive!!! Then Boone got into a fight. Another £100. And now I have to take him back tomorrow for another check of the abscess.
Vet said their summers are filled with male cats and abscesses from fighting

Their summer evenings must just fly by.

TheShellBeach · 15/06/2023 13:24

Linney, deciding whether or not to fight and get his own abscess

😆Shell

Vets must love summer for the amount of money we pour into their accounts 😁

NewBootsAndRanty · 15/06/2023 15:03

I'm just back from the second unexpected vet trip in a month, but not with a cat.
The first time was a baby pigeon that a crow dropped on the wall; today was Midnight from downstairs' first victim. Took a shaken blackbird that couldn't fly to the practice in a box on the bus, signed a wildlife form and I hope they can help it one way or another.

NewBootsAndRanty · 15/06/2023 15:04

Midnight ? I mean Shadow. Mild brain fart moment there.

bonfirebash · 15/06/2023 18:26

Shady has a bit of an upset tum

(Don't read if eating)

It's not diarrhoea but a lot softer than usual, haven't changed his food at all

Allergictoironing · 16/06/2023 10:59

You can tell Girlcat is happy with her new toyboy. She used to come rushing to the door when I got in either from work or even just a couple of hours. The loast week or so, she's taken her own sweet time coming down when I've got back in from work, up to 10-15 minutes a couple of times.

Today I've got the day off, and went for physio on my shoulder/arm. I have been back about an hour now, and no sign of Girlcat. Went up to the loo a few minutes ago and she was lounging in Tobias's room, looked at me when I went in there then crashed out again. Still hasn't come down for the fuss she used to demand.

Basil measured as promised.
23 inches nose to bum but he wasn't really fully stretched out. It took forever to stop him playing with the tape measure though 😹

Huzzah for Girlcat. I am so glad to hear that she and Tobias are getting on so well.

Basil is very handsome and very long.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 16/06/2023 11:27

Just realised reading back through the thread. Are we measuring height (sitting up?) or length?
If it's height I may have over egged Basil's stature 😁.

Florissante · 16/06/2023 11:30

I want to see standing up measures. Those will be interesting.

But where do we measure from? Top of head, top of ears?
And what if your cat is a slouch - no point telling them to sit up 😹.

I measured from floor to back as if I was measuring a horse at the withers
13 inches

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 16/06/2023 11:51

Just had to look up where a horse's withers are 😁.
Don't think Basil will stand up for long enough - but I'll try later.

bonfirebash · 16/06/2023 12:34

Shady did flop on the floor and try and eat the tape measure again
Least it's providing cheap entertainment for us and the cats... Grin

Top of the ears!

bonfirebash · 16/06/2023 13:51

Ok for top of ears it looked like 17 but he was shimmying around trying to demand belly rubs

Florissante · 16/06/2023 13:53

Shady! You're settling in so well in your new home.

Allergictoironing · 16/06/2023 14:06

Length measurement for Boycat of 18 inches was from forehead along his back to the base of his tail. Measured by him lying next to me with my arm alongside him, elbow by the base of his tail, forearm stretched along his back and tips of my fingers just reaching his forehead. It may bave been a little longer as I doubt he was stretched as fully as he could, but ofc obviously no longer possible to check 😢

Seeing Girlcat & Tobias side by side, they are almost opposite builds. She is long, and lean with long legs (think supermodel build). He is very stocky with very short legs (think rugby prop). Apparently they weigh around the same 😁

I may get round to measuring Girlcat soon, but as I can't even stroke Tobias yet I don't think I'll be taking a tape measure to him any time soon!

I'm ok thanks, had a ruptured appendix and five days in hospital 😳 Recovering slowly but bored stiff being off work and not being able to exercise 😭

Kloppy was back at the vet yesterday, now sporting a cone of shame 😅

Wishing you both a rapid recovery @PollyCreo & Kloppy. Take it easy and hope the heat isn't making you too uncomfortable as well.
