If he's a little worried about doing his thing when you're around, he'll just do it at night or while you're out at work. That was the only sign I had that Boycat & Girlcat were alive for a few days - litter tray being used & food vanishing overnight.

From the sound of him he will do an Ollie - get home, look round & be settled in within minutes!

I agree! I see him as an Ollie. Come in, have a sniff and a snack. Fall asleep.

Kyse23 · 23/05/2023 09:42

I'm actually working half a day so should be able to get him lunch time Friday which gives me a day to settle him before I work the day after (from home)

Everything sounds like he mostly just wants to stay inside away from scary birds and be fussed Grin

Excellent news.
And Shady sounds purrfect, too.
He's one lucky boy.

FWK has had a traumatic morning. Cedric escaped through a first floor window earlier today 🙀. Fortunately found safely hiding under a bush.
Some soothing photos to get over the stress.

Defiantlynot41 · 23/05/2023 12:36

That is the most soothing of sights Grumpy! Delicious kittens

LostCats · 23/05/2023 12:53

They have rather glorious tummies don’t they!

They do - and they both have an inordinate propensity for showing them off 🤣.
I suppose they aren't really kittens anymore- they were one earlier this year. Still look very kitten-y to me though.

Supersimkin2 · 23/05/2023 13:05

Made my day. They do love each other terribly.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/05/2023 13:16

I'm in serious trouble at the moment. Sybil has developed lots of mats on her tum. I've had a bit of success in cutting them out over the last few weeks but she is now VERY grumpy whenever I go near her underside.
So I'm waiting for the vet to call back with a quote to sedate and shave her mats off.
Will be taking her in next week...
No idea why she has developed them this year, never had them before.
I'll post photos of the shaved Sybil next week. 🙀

Florissant · 23/05/2023 14:18

Poor Sybil! However, I look forward to the photos of Sybil sporting her spring coat.

Florissant · 23/05/2023 14:18

And Cedric and Doris are adorable. Doris is so much bigger than Cedric!

Kyse23 · 23/05/2023 15:12

Just had a message from a friend

Hi Kyse don’t know if you know but I work at the Pet Crematorium. Ollie arrived with us this afternoon. I went to go and see him. What a beautiful handsome boy. His whiskers are soooo long! I have done you a little something
Is there any other way I can get it to you?
I will look after him I promise 💙 xxx

Florissant · 23/05/2023 15:13

Ollie is in loving hands until the very end.

LostCats · 23/05/2023 18:22

🖤🖤🖤

LostCats · 23/05/2023 18:24

I don’t even know what actual words to say.
How so very sad but so very special

coastergirl · 23/05/2023 18:39

I've read that message several times now and I well up every time.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/05/2023 19:17

Kyse - you have a exceptionally kind and thoughtful friend.

Papergirl1968 · 23/05/2023 19:31

Hope that brings you some comfort @Kyse23 k
What a lovely friend.

Supersimkin2 · 23/05/2023 21:42

That’s Lovely 🥰

Grumpy, Capn had to be sedated every few months for the mats. He loved it though when he got used to it.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/05/2023 06:42

Anyone else struggling to get their recalcitrant cats in at night at the moment?
Two nights on the trot Lenny has refused to come in at bedtime - last night he saw me call him and immediately ran next door under one of their cars. I'd swear the little bugger was laughing at me while he fled.
Lenny is now officially a dirty stop out (to be fair, he's always back in the morning though 😼)

JoanOgden · 24/05/2023 07:25

Yes, it's now officially the time of year when any self-respecting cat enjoys Fecking Around Outside at Night.

Fortunately, mine always returns home in time to jump affectionately on my head at first light Hmm

Supersimkin2 · 24/05/2023 08:08

Dreamies plastic megapack. One in each hand like maracas.

Dreamies were used successfully to tempt Sybil and Karl in late last night.
I may have mentioned before though that Lenny is a bit of a crap cat.
He doesn't like Dreamies 🙀

Allergictoironing · 24/05/2023 08:35

Just spent a happy few minutes watching Tobias eat from just outside the door to his room. Apart from the fact it's always good to watch a true trencherman enjoying a meal, this is a couple of massive steps forward.

He watched me from outside the igloo as I put the food bowl down, and temporarily put last night's empty on the bed. Went to the door to pick up the poo bag & litter scoop, but before I could go back in he was on the edge of the bed looking at the food, then jumped down and walked over to the door. He sat in the doorway looking at me, nice and relaxed for a few mins, then went over & dived into his breakfast.

Eventually I left him to it, and went up a bit later to do his tray & collect last night's dinner bowl from where I'd left it on the bed. He stayed out of the igloo the entire time I was doing that.

Little things to some people, but massive steps for Tobias especially when you bear in mind one of the reasons I chose him was because he was so wary and un-trusting and needed a slave with endless patience with him.
