I've actually moved it to tomorrow which is breaking my heart but he's uncomfortable

I believe you're being very wise to do this. I recall that one of our cats had lymphoma diagnosed - we knew it would only be a few weeks before we had to say goodbye - but four days after the diagnosis, DH and I both saw that she was in pain. She hid it so well - cats do - but we did not want her to suffer needlessly when the remedy was at hand. We took her in that afternoon.

Dear Ollie. You are doing the right thing for him, @Kyse23

Allergictoironing · 18/05/2023 16:54

I'm sending you big virtual hugs, and a very gentle stroke to Ollie.

Having come to the decision, especially if you think he knows he's not right and think he may be uncomfortable or in pain, there's no good reason to wait. I spent every night of Boycat's last fortnight making his fur soggy crying into it while cuddling him. He wasn't in pain at that time just very confused about feeling not right, but even so I was on the verge of bringing it forward a couple of times.

We will be thinking of you both tomorrow. Have you got someone (e.g. your father) to come with you? There's no way I could have driven home safely afterwards.

I'm going alone as I would rather do that. My dad doesn't do hugs/comfort so would be awkward and I'm better alone when I'm upset

Ollie is having a nap in his igloo

TheSilveryPussycat · 18/05/2023 17:16

So sorry to hear this. Bless little Ollie!

NewBootsAndRanty · 18/05/2023 18:29

poor Ollie, and poor you Daffodil

I'm so sorry - love to you both from me and Squidge. Give him (and yourself) a cuddle from us x

Papergirl1968 · 18/05/2023 18:37

My heart is breaking for both you and Ollie, @Kyse23

HouseofHolbein · 18/05/2023 18:58

I'm so sorry to read this 😢 he's been such a lucky boy tho not many cats 🐈‍⬛ have been loved as much as he is 💕

coastergirl · 18/05/2023 20:17

Queen you know I'm only half an hour down the road if you need anything. So much regret that I never got there and met Ollie myself. You're taking the pain for him, the most loving thing you can do. Struggling to think of Paws without him. I'm so sorry.

LostCats · 18/05/2023 20:27

Oh Ollie. I’ve read so many wonderful posts about him over the years and seen how much you love him.
His gorgeous little expressive face and paddling in the water feature!
We will all miss his stories so much. And we will all be here when you need to talk @Kyse23
Godspeed Ollie ❤️

RumNotRun · 18/05/2023 21:27

@Kyse23 and Ollie, I can't say anything that the others haven't said. Massive hugs to you both, and to Paws.x.x

JoanOgden · 18/05/2023 21:51

Oh Ollie! I'm so sorry. He is such a sweetie. Love to you both xx

Supersimkin2 · 18/05/2023 22:10

My darling, I can only guess at how you must be feeling. Christ, how horrible for you.

You’re doing the last thing you can for your darling Ollie. He loves you more than any cat ever loved their Mum. He always will.

You both have a good night. All the love to you and Grandpaw xxxxxxxx

Kyse23 · 18/05/2023 22:11

I just can't stop crying and I HAVE to work tomorrow and Saturday
My eyes already are swollen. It'll be better once it's over I think

nettie434 · 18/05/2023 23:47

@Kyse23 Absolutely echoing what everyone else has said and sending you and Ollie all my thoughts for tomorrow. His face and expressions have made me smile so many times. He has had the best life with you and has given so much in return.

Supersimkin2 · 19/05/2023 00:41

Love, don’t worry about crying at work. When it comes to cats I’ve had full on hysterics in swanky meetings, so has anyone decent. Everyone is with you. Everyone gets it.

Putting my arms around you and the best cat ever - try and get a bit of kip
in.

Is Granpaw coming over at the weekend? You need a bit of looking after and he probably won’t want to be on his own either.

Kyse23 · 19/05/2023 00:43

He's not, I'm working all weekend. TBH I would rather be on my own when I'm upset, more of a hide under the duvet kind of person

Guiltypleasures001 · 19/05/2023 00:46

Ive been thinking about both of you over the last few weeks as haven't seen many posts, but was aware that darling Ollie was under the weather
Both of you will be in my thoughts tomorrow as well lovely,
I don't know what else to say there are no words of comfort that will make a difference
But know that there are many of us holding a paw circle of love for you and Ollie
Much love Queen x

darumafan · 19/05/2023 08:24

I think that the whole of the Litter Tray are thinking about you, Ollie and Paws today and sending you love and hugs.
Ollie is the luckiest cat in the world to have such a loving, strong and thoughtful mama.
Safe travels gorgeous Ollie, there are so many people holding you in their hearts today xxx

Supersimkin2 · 19/05/2023 09:35

Ollie loved and was loved.

coastergirl · 19/05/2023 21:37

I just started thinking, how many heartbreaking losses we have supported each other through, on this little corner of the Internet. Many before I came along, I'm sure. But I clearly recall Mr C, Asbo, my own Bertie, Cap'n, Boycat...I know I'm missing loads, please forgive my very tired brain. And now darling Ollie. I certainly felt the love and support when I was in that awful pain. Amazing really, for a bunch of strangers, united by love of our furry overlords (and of course, occasional frustration at their errant ways). Love to all, but especially @Kyse23, Ollie and Paws tonight. 💔

Papergirl1968 · 19/05/2023 21:52

I was thinking the same @coastergirl I love how supportive this thread is.

Kyse23 · 19/05/2023 21:58

I'm heartbroken. He went cuddled in my arms, I said big naps to him (I always said that before bed) and he turned his head into my chest Sad and went in seconds.
It was very peaceful except for the screaming kids in the waiting room, so thanks to their parents for that Angry

The house is too quiet and my arms want to hold him

coastergirl · 19/05/2023 22:00

I'm so sorry lovely. It really is the most awful pain. But he knew no pain, and you gave him that xxx

Papergirl1968 · 19/05/2023 22:00

For those who don't have facebook, Kyse has posted that Ollie went peacefully and in seconds. 💔
