Great progress with Tobias, another few months and he'll be curled up on your pillow 😽

At current progress, I may have a nice live purring hot water bottle in time for winter 😁.

Boycat used to come on the bed for cuddles every night, then slip away when I'd fallen asleep with him in my arms bless him. Girlcat only goes on the bed when I'm not in/on it - her cuddles are confined to the sofa plus the belly rubs while she writhes on the floor at my feet.

Easing your head onto the mattress with his back leg “that’s it human, enough pillow for you for tonight”

There must be a sweet spot in cat ownership where a rescue cat has gained confidence and really appreciates you, but hasn't yet realised that the role of the puny human is simply to serve.
I don't think that sweet spot lasts very long 🤣.

Allergictoironing · 16/05/2023 19:11

Boycat was in that sweet spot right to the end - but that was probably because the darling boy definitely had some issues and was thick as shit. Theory is that he was injured when young (scar on his face) which gave him brain damage; he was very clumsy indeed for a cat, scared of almost everything, zero attention span, thickest cat I ever met...

And the most adorable 6kg of sleek silky purring fur that has ever been. Miss him every single day.

Aw. Of course you do.
It's awful when they die, just tragic.
And it hasn't been very long at all since Boycat died.

Prince has risen from his bedchamber and enjoyed three huge meals.

While I served them afternoon tea, he bit Havelock on the arse.

Basil and Sybil appear to be holding hands 😽

Sibling love.

Supersimkin2 · 17/05/2023 22:11

How loving.

Allergictoironing · 18/05/2023 09:41

She's just trying to make her suitor jealous, hoping he'll see them through the window 😈

It's Ollies time and he is booked in to go to rainbow bridge in a few weeks Sad

YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/05/2023 13:33

No 😭

Kyse23 · 18/05/2023 13:35

My dad took him for a steroid jab today as he's got cystitis again. She said he's VERY old and frail and I knew I would have to make a decision soon
I'm doing it perhaps early but while he's still happy, and timing so I can take 3 days off work afterwards. He's not in any pain and is still eating and yelling at me

YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/05/2023 13:36

I'm so sorry...

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 18/05/2023 13:41

Really sorry to hear about Ollie. A real character.
💐

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 18/05/2023 13:42

I’m so sorry, you gave him a great life & he knows he’s a loved boy.

TheLongRider · 18/05/2023 13:46

Kyse23 I'm so sorry. You've have given him the best life and the love that both of you have shared is immense.

Defiantlynot41 · 18/05/2023 14:20

So , so sorry @Kyse23. You have given Ollie such love (and him to you). Sending you both peace and love

Allergictoironing · 18/05/2023 14:45

Nooo! Not Ollie! We will all miss him so much.

Make the most of the next few weeks, spoil him (and yourself) rotten. Nothing he eats now will really make any difference so let him have all those dairy products he loves that aren't really good for him.

Oh @Kyse23 I am so sorry to hear about Ollie.

He sounds like such a character, and is clearly well-loved on this board.

It's always better to take them a little early, rather than too late - but I'm sure you know that.
You've obviously given him a great life. I am very sad for you.

Kyse23 · 18/05/2023 15:36

I've actually moved it to tomorrow which is breaking my heart but he's uncomfortable

Really very sorry, I'd seen your update on FB. You know you are doing the right thing but it doesn't make it any easier.
💐

Florissante · 18/05/2023 15:41

Oh, Kyse. I'm so sorry to hear the news. You have my sympathy.

Kyse23 · 18/05/2023 15:46

It's hard because everyone is like oh he looks fine, what's happened
Well nothing but I know it's time, he's tired and I'm not waiting until he's at deaths door and dragging him out at 1am to out of hours when I can choose for him to go peacefully before he's in pain

I am completely with you. I could have kept Harley for another week or two, but for what? He gave me so much love and happiness it was my job so show him the ultimate love and respect.

It doesn't hurt any less though.

Sending you love and strength 💐
