According to a firefighter who's a close relative, this is how they rescue cats

  1. Send Probationer firefighter up in the cherry picker
  2. As firefighter approaches, cat finds can get down all by themselves after all
  3. Explain strategy to bystanders "We just send up the uglyest firefighter. Works every time."

If you know snooker, it's anything but boring. I was brought up watching it with my dad and I love it. Plus, cats like snooker 😂 Usually during the world championships, #catswatchingsnooker can be found trending on twitter.

Defiantlynot41 · 30/04/2023 16:40

@TheSilveryPussycat that worked for one of mine - twice! (Different houses thank goodness). Local kids came out in the street - ooh fireman Sam. Same for their mums Smile

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 01/05/2023 14:02

I used to watch the snooker too with granny. Hot choc and cheese with crackers on the side in my dressing gown and slippers.

My childhood Persians used to check where the balls had gone.

Supersimkin2 · 01/05/2023 21:35

I always put the snooker on for Mr C when I was at work. He was mad keen on Stephen Hendry’s technique.

Kyse · 01/05/2023 21:38

Taking Ollie back to the vet in 10 days or so (having to wait until my next day off)

Any ideas? Urine test was fine so I guess diabetes would have shown up?

Eating more, weeing more and not sort of settling - he is constantly persevering for food or inside/outside/yelling at me
He seems bright enough but something is nagging me that's not right. I'm wondering if thyroid...

Supersimkin2 · 02/05/2023 11:53

Could be thyroid - makes you pee loads and famished.

Woke up here with two cats in bedroom and an empty megapack of Dreamies on floor. They both screamed for breakfast.

Allergictoironing · 02/05/2023 19:57

Definitely been something going on today while I've been at work - found the living room bin on it's side with half the contents on the floor. Either there's been energetic interactions, or someone has been seeing if there's anything worth eating in there. Seeing as it's never happened in the years Girlcat has been here, I have my suspicions who may be to blame...

So proud of Mr T.

I don't want to be rude or anything Allergic so please don't take offense, but it's starting to look like you're the spanner in the works/third wheel/interloper/etc 😱😂

The Petowner from Pawlock - it’s all our fates, guys.

How is Ollie?

I think I've already worked that out Yes 😔

I'm doing my best you know - spending time in the room, chatting pleasantly to him when I'm in the room or nearby, letting him sniff my hand and not trying to touch him, hand feeding him cooked chicken, playing with the toy he seems to like.

TBH I think Girlcat has been telling him lies about me, so she can keep me all to herself!

Tobias! 😂
Matt has taken to the baby's Moses basket. I came upstairs for a shower yesterday and found him fast asleep in it, snuggled into her punk blanket. Heaved him out and went in the shower, on to find him back in it when I came out.
I suspect this is a losing battle.
Luckily baby is not keen on her moses basket.

LostCats · 03/05/2023 09:19

Cats and Moses baskets are a losing battle. I tried with both my DC and Boone won everytime. 😆

YetAnotherSpartacus · 03/05/2023 09:48

Baby has a punk blanket? How is DD1, Paper? I have been thinking of her too.

Matt! He’s only doing that cos it’s National Tabby Week. Special conditions apply.

He wants the baby to smell of family, adorably. How are y’all?

Shere Genius, Grumpy.

Papergirl1968 · 03/05/2023 10:47

Pink!
All going well. Baby is doing great and dd2 has taken to motherhood like a duck to water. Dd1, well, we are seeing her later in the neutral setting of the local Harvester so she can meet her niece but she's understandably finding it tough that her sister got to bring her baby home when she didn't. Dd2 really turned her life around though the moment she found out she was pregnant and dd1 didn't so adoption was definitely the best thing for her child. Four years on her life is still a mess.
As for me I am becoming increasingly competent at feeding, burping, changing nappies, and forcing little arms and legs into clothes.
The cats have pretty much ignored the baby while the dog has appointed herself guardian and keeps a very watchful eye on her.

Supersimkin2 · 03/05/2023 13:59

The dog’s maternal instincts are just heart-melting! That’s all good news Paper - you must be so proud, hope you’re getting enough sleep.

I’m really jealous of the Harvester outing. I love it and there are none in London. That cornucopia of a buffet…. 🤤 It’s early days yet for DD1, but her time will come; good luck and eat loads.

TheShellBeach · 03/05/2023 14:46

Hi @Papergirl1968
How typical that the dog will guard the baby and the cats will take over her Moses basket

Papergirl1968 · 03/05/2023 21:41

No Harvesters in London! I'm shocked!
I am a very fussy eater and only eat the bread rolls from the Harvester salad cart. Dd1 kept us waiting for nearly two hours, by which time I'd managed to eat about seven rolls, which were followed by fish and chips and then a Rocky Horror sundae. Plus so much refillable diet Pepsi I'm buzzing! 😂
I generally sleep very well and don't hear the baby but I suspect caffeine and trips to the toilet will keep me up tonight!

There is a Harvester in SE19 Supersimkin2 - but that might be a bit of a trek for you. It is rather marvellously called the Beulah Spa because it's near the site of a spa in the area. Apparently it was rather grand with pleasure gardens designed by Decimus Burton. Sadly, it fell out of fashion when the Crystal Palace moved to Crystal Palace and now there is only a plaque. I've only ever gone past it so I can't tell you if it's any good but you do get good views of London on Beulah Hill.

Lovely to hear how well you and your daughter are doing Papergirl1968. Glad you had a good time today.

I'm also impressed with Tobias's bravery, Allergic. It sounds like definite progress.

I just had to share the poses by Walter tonight. ♥️

I think I now know how the parent of a teenage girl feels!

Woke a little early with that pressing need to go to the loo that only ladies of a certain age & pregnant women know, so shot to the loo. I heard footsteps on the stairs & pushed the door open to see Tobias sneaking up the stairs - he's clearly spent the night downstairs with Girlcat & tried to sneak back up without me noticing!

He saw me looking, and laid down in loaf position facing the loo door watching me quite calmly, while I stayed enthroned looking at him. Eventually he moved somewhat languorously when I stood up, and watched me flush & back to my room. all the while in the doorway of his room.

Little brave Tobias! Prince ‘supports me emotionally’ with the same routine.

Thanks Nettie. I might do internet food porn and check out the menu in SE19.
