Lexter makes me escort him to the toilet. He'll hang round on the hearth till I notice and get up to move him (as he has done a wee there before) then he walks to the lounge door, looks back to check I'm following then walks to the utility room, pausing every few steps to check I'm still behind him. I have to go all the way to the utility door before he's happy to go and use his tray. If I dare turn back halfway there then he will run after me and start all over again.

I’ve just cleared up outside the tray. Awful hassling and leg rubbing the minute closure is rescued by Prince.

Answer to the unbelievable amount of litter bits - robovac. Shut it in bathroom for 15 min, clears up better than normal
hoover. Not gross or irritating.

We had a power cut too! It’s the wind Allergic.

Storm Noa not Storm Cat Gas.

Heh, little Tobias is showing signs of spirit. Scrabbling very dear.

The dog is trying to play with Matt. Matt is not impressed...

Matt is magnificent in dignity and charm, as ever.

There is something very wrong with this picture. Four of the tribe appear to be under the impression that it is their bed

Sodfing bloody vastar

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 18/04/2023 01:44

Try again...
Sodding, bloody, bastard cats.
For some inexplicable reason Sybil is asleep at my feet rather than lying between me and Mrs Grumpy as usual. Unfortunately this means Karl's spot on the bed is taken.
To make up for this Karl has spent the last hour and a half lying on me purring, except that every now and then he jumps off, goes for a walk and returns refreshed, with his purr turned up a notch, 5 minutes later. He's done this 6 times so far since midnight (except when I got up for a pee and Karl decided to yell outside the loo door).
I'd like some sleep please. Tomorrow I may sell all the cats for medical experiments.

Curled up on the table.

I feel your pain Grumpy.
Eko brought in a bird and dispatched it messily in DS’ room.
So DH put a curfew on the cat flap so the birds could get some peace in the mornings.
Which has meant that Boone has decided to wee on anything he can find on the floor in the morning. We’ve given up and opened the cat flap again permanently but Boone has just got into his perfect stride so now all I’m doing is bastard washing.

Threats won’t work, I regularly threatened Asbo I would turn him into a matching Muff and handbag set and he didn’t care one jot.

Basil relaxing. No further comment necessary 😁.

Tobias update time.

Things seem to be slowly progressing chez Allergic. On a few occasions now I've found Tobias lounging on the pillows rather than in his igloo - naturally he only does this when I don't have my phone to hand. He has even got to the stage of accepting chicken from my fingers outside the safety of the cave. He's also getting quite into killing a rainbow ribbon on a stick toy from the igloo door.

Relations with Girlcat also seem to be settling just a bit. I can definitely hear him doing his nightly serenading from downstairs as well as upstairs, and there have been noises that sound suspiciously like play chasing rather than Girlcat trying to make him go back to his room. She also came in to his room last night when I went to feed him & have a chat/play time. Very pointedly used his scratching post, then onto the windowsill followed by an acrobatic jump on to the middle shelf of the linen shelving (show off!) - he just continued to watch from the igloo door. She also looked very interested in his supper, so I had a little word with her about that; don't want her snaffling his Zylkene do I!

However twice now I've found the top of the igloo half pushed in, so I reckon Girlcat is clambering on it - she used to do that when Boycat was in the favoured downstairs igloo to get him out.

I still have a standard Feliway in his room as well as Zylkene on his meals, and I've added a Feliway Friends to the living room. I'm also starting to wonder if the new pack of Dreamies is helping a bit too, seeing as they claim to be Catnip flavout.

That's brilliant news, Allergic. Slowly but surely he is finding his paws. It must be seven or so weeks now? I remember because you had him shortly after my operation.
I went back to work today although my return will shortly be interrupted by the arrival of baby granddaughter, with just under two weeks to go till due date but she's quite big already so dd may be induced early.

nettie434 · 19/04/2023 20:35

Good news about Tobias, Allergic. Hope the return to work was not too bad, Papergirl1968. Time has really flown - it doesn't seem more than a couple of weeks since you posted that she was pregnant and now it's not long until the birth.

Basil looks as if he was enjoying the sun, Grumpy.

Allergictoironing · 20/04/2023 07:01

We have a new pic! He's decided that he likes lying on the top of some boxes just inside his bedroom door that has (what was) clean bedding on top.

Papergirl1968 · 20/04/2023 15:13

Oh hello handsome Tobias!

TheShellBeach · 20/04/2023 15:30

Aw - Tobias's little eyes, peeking out. He's a splendid cat, Allergic.

Allergictoironing · 20/04/2023 17:42

Not sure if you can see this all that well, but when I pulled up outside the house after work just now I saw a little face in the bedroom window. Apologies for any blurriness - it was windy & pissing down when I got out of the car.

Girlcat was watching for me out of the window below as well 😀

Very cute, he was clearly missing his mommy!
We are off to hospital shortly for baby granddaughter to be induced. I wonder what Matt, Socks and doggie will think of the strange new hairless kitten we bring home.

PollyCreo · 22/04/2023 18:29

This was me trying to pack my gym bag this morning... Kloppy had other ideas 🙄

We seem to have taken a bit of a backward step today with Tobias. Everything was good in the morning - he was happy on the top of the boxes by the door, he didn't look worried when I put his morning Dreamies down by his head, he even let me very briefly touch his nose. He was still there very relaxed looking when I took his breakfast up a little later.

Couple of hours later, he was up in his room, Girlcat was sitting on the floor next to me, and he made some noise she obviously took offence to. She shot upstairs, I followed slowly and half way up I saw her slink across the hallway from his room to mine. Went into see if Tobias was OK, and he was in the back of his igloo looking all tense.

Looking closer I could see a tiny spot of very fresh blood near the inner corner of his eye so obviously she's taken a swipe at him with claws presented. He was really jumpy and almost trembling..

In all the years I've had Gitlcat, she has never, ever touched me or Boycat with claws out, even when they were fighting or when I was doing stuff like picking her up & crating her, or clipping her claws, or anything at all. She's never even threatened or hissed/growled at the vets, or at any of her gentleman callers who come to talk to her through the Flatcats screens in summer when the windows are open.
