I started a new thread for all of Peppas adoring fans and probably soon to be Bingo's too.

Have a Peppa at the vets photo to start it off

We are currently reading harry potter and the chamber of secrets. Its been on my husbands side of the bed since the first lockdown but every time I go to move it he is adamant he is reading it still.
We've just got to the bit where they steal the car to go to school. My daughter now knows the word elf and the word wizard so I'm taking it as a win. I also declined her helpful option of 'mummy I'll get my drum and play him some music'. No no sweetie why don't you go show daddy your drum.

I'm gonna leave him over the weekend and if no joy I'll ring cats protection again

I wouldn't worry too much if he's coming out and using the tray and if you can tell he's eating and drinking a bit.

My parents have a lovely characterful little black rescue cat who is the boss of the house apart from when my brother comes to stay. Then she takes up residence under the bathroom cupboard until he goes away again.

This does her no harm and is no reflection on my brother honest

CatChant · 18/11/2022 18:55

Very, very clever DD. I’m not sure mine condescended to utter anything at that age.

Don’t despair OP. I am sure you and Harry Potter will work your combined magic. Just give it time. It’s a good sign that he’s sneaked out for the litter box.

Hope DH enjoys the drum session. Grin

Blowyourowntrumpet · 18/11/2022 19:04

Honestly, it's early days and he'll come round eventually.

Chemenger · 18/11/2022 19:07

It’s fine, don’t worry. He’ll come out when he’s ready, they always do. He won’t starve himself, but he might only eat when you’re not looking.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/11/2022 19:16

When Maia was hiding under the kitchen cupboard, I remembered the phrase 'a cat will never make itself uncomfortable' it took a week. But if he's coming out at all, I'd take it as a win. And just wait. If he's like Maia was she was totally in charge. Her sister made little sad noises when she came out.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/11/2022 19:18

Your DD sounds adorable!

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 18/11/2022 20:21

I enticed my shy, rescue kitten out from underneath my reclining chair with a bit of wool and a huge amount of patience. It took about an hour but her fighting spirit to defeat the woolly monster won out eventually. Once she was out, it got easier and easier to entice her out and she soon ruled the roost!

JorisBonson · 18/11/2022 20:22

If he's using the litter tray I wouldn't worry too much :)

LeMoo · 18/11/2022 21:04

@softplayfail it can take some cats several days - or even longer! - to emerge from hiding...and the poor mite had his acorns lopped off before waking up and being groggily transported to a new home!

Peppa is looking gorgeous as ever - still climbing curtains and catching spiders?

Allergictoironing · 18/11/2022 21:59

Took mine days before they emerged from behind/inside(!) the sofa when they came home. The only signs that there were cats in the house was the used tray and consumed water & food when I went in the room in the mornings.

Heronatemygoldfish · 18/11/2022 22:09

My pair hid behind the washing machine when they first arrived. Thankfully a litter tray was also in the utility room so we knew they were coming out to use it. After a few days we caught them sneaking about, and they moved into the inside space of a reclining chair and we spent months having to check it before un/reclining as they still used it as a hammock!

Cats virtually always hide in new places, even if their humans are with them.

Peppa is gorgeous and I am itching to see Bingo. This thread makes me want to look for kittens, but I'm only allowed one if it's ginger.

LeMoo · 18/11/2022 22:30

Have you tried tempting him out with cat crack dreamies, op?

MarisPiper92 · 18/11/2022 23:50

De-lurking to say that one of mine spent over a week under the Christmas tree before becoming the attention-loving cuddlebug she is today. I'm sure Bingo will make himself known soon!

Aw, that spiky little baby fur. He's so gorgeous. Hope Bingo's doing ok under the wardrobe. He'll be out soon enough, don't worry.

tryingtocatchthewind · 20/11/2022 10:26

Awww Peppa he’ll come out soon, he’s just a bit scared

TheLongRider · 20/11/2022 10:31

Has Peppa gone to talk to Bingo? Sometimes a cat can persuade another cat to come out.

I've been thinking this...wondered whether if just you and peppa went into the room and you sat quietly, let peppa do his thing...

Any more peppa adventures in the meantime op?

Toddlerteaplease · 20/11/2022 11:01

That's a good idea. He might be reassured by seeing Peppa relaxed and happy.

WinterLobelia · 20/11/2022 12:05

Peppa does have really beautiful markings.

(And a super cute little face)

softplayfail · 20/11/2022 12:44

@LeMoo peppa fell into the toilet which was hilarious. My toddler is in the middle of toilet training and her booster seat makes the toilet look closed. So he jumped and fell straight in.

Glad he was ok - but do be careful about that. Our foster kittens come with specific instructions to keep the toilet lid closed ‘as they all do it’ and it could mean disaster.

Random foster kitten photo by way of apology for nagging.
