I started a new thread for all of Peppas adoring fans and probably soon to be Bingo's too.

Have a Peppa at the vets photo to start it off

Oh your poor toddler OP! I hope so much she is better and gives your shattered nerves a break!

VittysCardigan · 16/11/2022 15:25

Placemarking for more kitten pics. Loved the previous thread. If i had space for a second litter tray I would definitely get another cat to keep The Commader company. Cat tax attached.

Yeah the skin is thin in our foreheads so it always looks bad. Once I tripped and cut my head on a door, it barely even hurt but there was blood everywhere.

VittysCardigan · 16/11/2022 15:30

When by boys were small we went through a stage of being at A&E on an almost weekly basis. The local Lions group provide teddies for little ones in A&E, we had 4!

GuppytheCat · 16/11/2022 15:55

Mm, yes, we had the imaginatively named Hospital Bear, Hospital Teddy and Hospital Spare Bear at one point.

Soubriquet · 16/11/2022 17:03

Whoooop! Your original thread ended up in classics!

WinterLobelia · 16/11/2022 17:13

Excellent news. :)

ShakeYourFeathers · 16/11/2022 17:22

Shameless placemark! That's is for the new thread. And so happy the previous thread is now in classics

softplayfail · 16/11/2022 17:24

Bingo will not come out from under the wardrobe. I'm going on the assumption if he got in he can get out. Do I just leave him be to come out on his own time?

OP posts:
LeMoo · 16/11/2022 17:30

Yes give him time, he'll stop hiding eventually :)

LeMoo · 16/11/2022 17:32

Pressed send to soon...

Hope your dd is feeling much better - you seem to spend a lot of time in hospital the weeks you get kittens!

How did the initial introduction go?

You could try a feliway plug in to help bingo relax, but he'll probably want a couple of days to recover from the op anyway.

Bet your dd is loving having 2 kittens!

softplayfail · 16/11/2022 17:35

@LeMoo ill leave him be. There's a feliway plugged in the room he's in so hopefully he'll come say hello.

My toddler is the reason why my hair is turning grey!

Yes to letting him come out in his own time.

Do make sure he has access to food, water and a litter box and keep the room he is in quiet. You can sit near and talk to him so he gets used to the sound of your voice.

He will come out, but it’s all new and frightening at the moment. In a few days he’ll be fine.

We once had two 10-week-olds from a rescue centre who hid at the back of a cupboard for a couple of days.

Apart from the kindness they’d experienced at the shelter they had absolutely no reason to trust humans but in less than a week they were happily pottering around the house and befriending the DC. And ruling the roost.

TheLongRider · 16/11/2022 17:37

Bingo will come out in his own time. You can try getting food he might like and sitting close to his hiding place when it's quiet and you might see him. It's very common for cats to hide for the first day or so.

WinterLobelia · 16/11/2022 17:39

Yes he will come out soon when he feels more comfy. Maybe put some food near him later and leave the room for a bit. It might take a while longer than you think though. Our first rescue we got from the RSPCA was about 5 months at the time had her own bedroom for a couple of weeks she was so nervy.

She;s now quite a bossy little soul who likes to sleep between us and nibble my hair.

LeMoo · 16/11/2022 17:44

When you bring new cats home, especially rescues, they have a talent for hiding behind or under all sorts of things you thought were cat proof...washing machines, floorboards, kitchen cupboards....Sometimes you don't know where they've gone and start wondering if you actually brought home a phantom!

Toddlerteaplease · 16/11/2022 17:44

One of mine hid for a week. The minute she came out, she absolutely ruled the roost.

LeMoo · 16/11/2022 17:45

@Toddlerteaplease would that be cheddar?

softplayfail · 16/11/2022 17:45

He was out a little last night but you could tell he was so groggy from the anesthetic and the operation. He walked like me after thinking 2 bottles of wine isn't a bad idea.

I know we scared him and to be fair Peppa too when I had to rush out to a and e.

I've put the blanket from the rescue tucked under the wardrobe and I've moved a litter box and a plug in upstairs with some food. I can see him so I know he's there.

Bingo don't you know you have adoring fans waiting to see you? Peppa is now the friendliest dopiest animal in the world. He went from ' I am a ferocious street cat' to 'excuse me but I need another blanket'. I have become a slave to now 2 felines

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 16/11/2022 17:46

She was coming out after dark to use the litter tray and eat.

softplayfail · 16/11/2022 17:47

@LeMoo wouldn't have found him until I noticed the lights reflecting off his eyes from underneath. This is missing out the fact that when I saw 2 glowing eyes under my wardrobe I yelled for my husband and I'm sure the words 'ghost' and 'haunted' were used in one sentence

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 16/11/2022 17:47

@LeMoo, no it was the late Maia. Cheddar was far more confident.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 16/11/2022 18:15

I'm not checking in for more cute kitten photos...on no!

AnApparitionQuipped · 16/11/2022 18:16

Just joining new thread.😻

NeverDropYourMooncup · 16/11/2022 18:32

A good thing to do is to talk to yourself whilst you're in the room and busy ignoring him. It's how he'll get to know your voice and realise you're not about to eat him. Accidentally dropping a couple of snacks in front of the wardrobe as you leave is also very useful.
