I started a new thread for all of Peppas adoring fans and probably soon to be Bingo's too.

Have a Peppa at the vets photo to start it off

Glad your toddler is ok, softplayfail. And thanks for this lovely thread and the previous one.

PerrinAybara · 16/11/2022 19:15

Glad your toddler is ok.

One of our rescues hid under the bed for several weeks when he joined us. He only came out for food and litter tray when we were out or asleep.

Looking forward to a photo of Bingo when he emerges.

Shamelessly placemaking for Peppa and Bingo photos!

PeloFondo · 16/11/2022 21:39

You might get a normal cat if he's hiding
Mine strolled out the carrier, looked around like "yes, this will do", sat on me and fell asleep
He's never been normal

Papergirl1968 · 16/11/2022 21:46

Yes, Matt was the same as Ollie and took it very much in his stride when we had him as a kitten. Socks on the other hand fled under the bed and remained there for a few days. She still dives under the bed now if something scares her or even if you walk too close to her, as if she thinks she's going to be kicked. But she loves cuddling up next to me on the bed all night so she must trust me to keep her safe!

torthecatlady · 16/11/2022 21:49

Hope your daughter feels better soon! Can't wait to meet Bingo!

Toddlerteaplease · 16/11/2022 22:14

Cheddar was pretty similar to Ollie as well. Settled in straight away. Met Magic immediately and no issues.

WinterLobelia · 17/11/2022 07:45

Our second rescue cat had been in the shelter for months and months. We had actually been rejected completely by another shelter as we had dogs x 3. When we got her she walked all around the house investigating things. Went to our bedroom where the 3 dogs were gently snoozing (after being introduced earlier and not showing a very great deal of interest) on our bed leaped up and settled down with them for a nap. Whole thing took maybe an hour. We were tempted to send a photo to the dog-refusing shelter!

She was not a normal cat either. Unbelievable hunter though and needed two bells on her collar after she learned how to sort of squish her chin and bell 1 to her chest to stop it jingling.

Chemenger · 17/11/2022 09:48

With very shy foster cats (or those who were "not very friendly") I used to sit in the room with them and read aloud. It got them used to my voice and sitting still let them investigate (stare/glare/hiss at) me without threat. Let Bingo come to you when he's ready. Now I have an idiot cat who was too dim to be worried when he arrived.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 17/11/2022 14:25

Mine hid behind the washing machine for a few days when he first came home. He's now fast asleep on my bed and definitely settled. It took a few weeks though as he'd been an injured stray and the rescue centre had no background on him.

Squish the bell with her chin. Genius cat😂😂😂

Our hunter has two bells on her collar but waits until a train goes by on the line at the end of our garden before she pounces.

Omg, I'm beginning to think my little love is a little, um, challenged in the brain department (always knew it). She still hasn't worked out that feet belong to her humans...

One of our brighter cats would rub the bell in sand or earth to muffle it. (Her preferred option was to leave the whole collar on the nearest hedge branch, of course, but it didn’t always work.)

I've been watching since the beginning of the first thread and I don't know if I can go on much longer without a photo of Bingo 😂 I hope he feels safe enough to come out for a stroke soon! 💕

Poor wee thing. I know someone's whose rescue hid behind the sofa for three weeks. He needs that time.

Soubriquet · 18/11/2022 14:44

How’s Bingo doing? Has he overcome any shyness yet?

Shyness is nice
but
shyness can stop you
from being on Mumsnet
when they want to see you.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/11/2022 15:15

If we can't have a Bongo photo. We need a Photo of Peppa.

GuppytheCat · 18/11/2022 16:19

Teehee at the inept 'Similar threads' suggestions of Peppa Pig World and Naice house bingo!

Kittens, dear MNHQ. That's what this thread is about.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 18/11/2022 17:42

Does anyone else eagerly open this thread every time the post count goes up in the hope of seeing Bingo? If he's still too shy for photos I'd settle for more Peppa

Kenwoodmixitup · 18/11/2022 17:48

@MyGhastIsFlabbered yep

Yes!

softplayfail · 18/11/2022 18:15

Bingo is not playing ball. And has come out from the wardrobe three times to use the litter box. I'm not even sure he's eating. Going to put a very small amount of food in to see if I can see if he's eating. I'm not too sure what else to do. I've been reading to him or as my husband says 'reading to the wardrobe which makes me believe you have finally cracked'.

Have a sleepy Peppa picture

Aw, sleepy Peppa is adorable.

Poor OP, you have had an eventful few weeks. Having a kitten insisting on living under the wardrobe must seem like one more complication.

But he will come out in time. They always do.

What are you reading to him? Not that it will make any difference to when he decides to come out but I’m sure you’ll have chosen something special.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe?

Not that I’m calling you a witch. But if you are, you’re a very nice one.
