Help me think of names for cats to keep to hand for when I'm short of inspiration

I have to name dozens of cats a month. Any cat I bring in to the rescue that is for homing (as opposed to neuter and return) needs a name. I'm really running out of ideas.

I'm looking for names that aren't actual people names - and preferably that are normal nouns with a nice sound and no awkward connotations.

For example, Puddle and Truffle. They don't need to end in 'le' of course - although that does give a particularly appealing sound I feel.

Any suggestions?

Well as we're naming them you obviously do one of two things:

1. name them afterwards our usernames
2. name them after MN stereotypes and catchphrases (Pearl-Clutcher, YABU, LTB...)

@Susu49 Well I can't say I'm not tempted. I think if I called cats Cancel The Cheque, or Elderly Korean Lady people would think I had completely lost the plot. However I'm seriously tempted by a pair called Naice and Ham. Or maybe Yabu and Yanbu for a naughty and nice pair:)

I watched a YouTube video yesterday and the rescue called them after pumpkins: phat Jack, crunchkin, sugar pie, baby boo etc.

Or the name of cities - you could choose a different country every month or so.

I have always named my cats after famous Russian leaders - that hasn't aged well as it! I always think of cats as being Russian autocrats!, weird I know. I may move onto welsh names or something next.

I bet you don't want any more suggestions now, TCN - but I can't resist throwing some into the hat!

The best three non-name cat names I've known are:

• Crumpet
• Bosun
• Calamity (though I can see that this one, while awesome, might not be the best for tempting an adoption!)

Also, this being Mumsnet, I think it's mandatory to suggest some Farrow & Ball paint colours, so how about:
