Ollie says he sees no cornflake. You're mistaken

Supersimkin2 · 04/03/2022 09:21

Oh Allergic, you will.

Pawpaws, that’s grim for you. (DF the same. Drink gave him brain damage that started showing in his 50s, I knew it, docs denied it, until brain MRIs showed Swiss cheese holes.) The awful truth is that people who are bloody difficult at the best of times tend to go demented earlier - Dad needs to set boundaries. Easier said than done.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/03/2022 09:29

Bloody cats...
Karl has just appeared in the library with a severe limp.
Allergic hope Boycat is feeling perkier soon, we'll both have to keep an eye out today...

Allergictoironing · 04/03/2022 10:00

He's still hiding under my bed Sad

Chose the "best" day for it too. OK I may not work Fridays, but currently have a satellite engineer having to re-site my dish as it has pulled the brackets out of the wall in the storms - partly because it was installed very badly by the previous owner of the house.

Due a call from bloody HMRC in 5 mins too. Got caught in the HMRC "we've retrospectively changed our definitions on what is allowed for contractor umbrellas" thing from years & years ago. They can't get the money off the umbrella as they closed down (what a surprise) so they are chasing all the old contractors who worked for them. Please not it was checked with HMRC at the time, and was deemed fine then, they just changed their minds Angry

I will hopefully be able to call the vet after lunch if he is still hiding under the bed {sigh}.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/03/2022 10:18

Has he used his litter tray, Allergic?

Allergictoironing · 04/03/2022 10:44

Don't know about during the night (shared tray), he did yesterday & seemed fine. Not been downstairs at all this morning.

Found a nice big vomit on my seat this morning, but hard to tell who did that.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/03/2022 10:53

Can you shut him in with food, water and a tray?

Allergictoironing · 04/03/2022 11:01

They are indoor only anyway, don't want him to be unable to come down if he wants to. He's still under the bed, tolerated strokes for a bit then moved out of reach.

Both will be unsettled anyway this morning because of Strange Man in & out of the house doing Sky dish stuff.

Papergirl1968 · 04/03/2022 11:07

I'm also stressed and worn out by DM and her dementia. As my distressing the other day, there's no days out of relaxation because we're either at work, doing chores at our own houses, or looking after DM. Luckily she's blissfully unaware she has dementia and isn't a wanderer, but she does some bizarre things, is becoming incontinent and is so repetitive I have to fight the urge to scream.
Sending positive thoughts for speedy recoveries to Allergic and Grumpy's poorly cats.

Allergictoironing · 04/03/2022 11:20

Booked him in to the vet for this afternoon. His behaviour is SO out of the norm for him I think that's safest.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/03/2022 11:30

Definitely. I hope that he is OK.

Allergictoironing · 04/03/2022 11:52

Will just have the fun of trying to drag him out from under the bed then get upright again (with arthritis) without letting him go Shock

Allergictoironing · 04/03/2022 12:48

He's downstairs! Requested a cuddle, and purred throughout it. Sooo relieved.

Will cancel the vet appointment Smile

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/03/2022 13:43

Karl is now booked into the vet for 4.15.
He's putting no weight on his rear nearside leg at all, so better safe than sorry before the weekend.
Hoping he'll do a Boycat at 3.30 and magically recover (or more likely do so while he's in with the vet...)

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/03/2022 13:44

And a token Sybil picture with 'her' water fountain

Supersimkin2 · 04/03/2022 13:50

Good luck Grumpy. Will be thinking of you as the vet prints out the bill only to see Karl playfully flying over the printer.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/03/2022 13:52

I'm deducting one point off Karl for getting ill when the vets are open and charging normal rates. Midnight would have been more "cat".

Supersimkin2 · 04/03/2022 13:58

That’s correct Fluffy. But he may yet recover to do star jumps while in the waiting room.

I’m making DM a cake with a kilo of brandy- soaked fruit in it.

TheLongRider · 04/03/2022 14:24

I took a photo of Nemo glowing in the Spring sunshine this morning. He looks like a cat from the old Weetabix ads or like a side quest in a game.

Allergictoironing · 04/03/2022 14:57

We have now had a further 4 cuddles, some water, a mahoosive pee and a stinky (normal) poo. He's gone back to bed now worn out, but ON the bed not under it Smile

Papergirl1968 · 04/03/2022 15:06

That's a relief, Allergic.
Fingers crossed for Karl and Grumpy now.

coastergirl · 04/03/2022 16:05

Glad boycat is ok. Hope Karl is too! I agree, it's not very cat to need the vet during normal hours.

Sorry to all those struggling with elderly parents, it sounds so tough. I'm struggling with a toddler on a sleep strike and that's hard enough!

Queen, your date sounds perfect! Are you seeing him again?

pawpaws2022 · 04/03/2022 16:35

Yes, we agreed to about half an hour into the first date!

coastergirl · 04/03/2022 16:49

That's so exciting!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 04/03/2022 17:06

Karl has apparently been running away from another cat. Three puncture wounds, infected but not yet at abscess stage. Scuffed claws etc.
Metacam, antibiotics and £157 bill.
Needs to go back next week to check the bite hasn't penetrated the actual joint.
But yes, needless to say he jumped on every available surface at the vet.
Ho hum...
