Do your cats sleep in your bedroom?

I have a kitten and a 3 year old cat. I love having them in our bedroom at night, it feels cosy when we're all together.

When they wake up very very early wanting breakfast, it's a different story! I wake up with the kitten sat on my head, the other cat walking on the head board, poking our faces and growling Blush.

When I'm home alone I keep them downstairs in the kitchen but I miss them when I do!

Is it just me that wants their cats close by at nightGrin?

Nope my little miss usually ends up with me too. She does a tour of all the bedrooms at night Grin love kitty cuddles. She does get very bitey when she wants me to get up though, but I just hide under the covers and she either settles back down or moves on to another victim

My madam graciously permits me to sleep in “her” bed. But she is very good at not disturbing me in the morning - she just silently slips out and goes mousing for her breakfast. If her hunt is unsuccessful, she will come and politely miaow quietly at about 8am, hoping I will get up and feed her.
I am a very blessed cat servant, to have such a considerate mistress. Grin

Dcats sleep in dd's room. Stops them sleeping in on school days!!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 15/11/2021 19:20

No. He sleeps on his special fleecy mat on HIS windowsill and then loudly wakes us at 0630 to announce that he is feeling peckish.

Simonjt · 15/11/2021 19:20

We sleep in the cats room, we are the slaves and we are very thankful she allows us to sleep in her room.

Bettybantz · 15/11/2021 19:24

Yep, every night. He’s very good though. It doesn’t matter if I get up at 6am or noon, he stays put till I budge. No early morning wake ups for me! (Smug)

The cats do own this house and we just pay the bills! Our little boy kitten will be due his trip to the vets soon.. Blush We lost one of our beloved cats a few months ago when she was run over, I don't think we will ever get over it. It's making me think about keeping our kitten as an indoor cat.. . Our other cat goes outside but doesn't go far. I'm so worried everyday!

Do our cats let us sleep in their bedroom do you mean?

Theunamedcat · 15/11/2021 19:28

One makes sure I'm safe all night by sleeping by me and ds the other rotates between watching out the front of the house checking on his boy and occasionally seeing me the third is a pita pokes my toes sings the song of his people to me at five am watches his brothers until they wake and chase him sings again hides for a bit then more singing 😳

Nandocushion · 15/11/2021 19:28

I used to feel the same way but the negotiations for breakfast started to open earlier and earlier. When they got to 4.45am we said enough and now they sleep downstairs in their own area with the door firmly shut! DH sets his alarm for 7am now to let them loose and feed them, which seems a decent compromise.

JorisBonson · 15/11/2021 19:30

Yes, and my comfort is not considered at all.

bizboz · 15/11/2021 19:30

Yes. She has a brief period around 4/5 where she shoots off and then shoots back in a while later but other than that she's dead to the world all night.

TroysMammy · 15/11/2021 19:31

Depends if my restless legs are more restless than usual or not. He bothers/nags my partner, never me. If he gets up and I'm not I say "Haribo lie down, sleeps, lie down" and he settles back down for an hour or two until I'm ready to get up. He's a fab cat.

Sidneysussex · 15/11/2021 19:36

yep he is under a duvet every night. Sometimes with a child often with us ( well me as DH doesn’t like cats in the bed so he always creeps in my side) Annoyingly no matter who he sleeps with it’s always me he comes to at 6 am for food. He sits on my neck and head bumps me with serious force whilst purring loudly. He will also nip if I don’t get up.
Cats do not have any respect for personal space!

Purpleseaside · 15/11/2021 19:38

@Bettybantz how adorable!! Beautiful kitty.

The cats sleep on my bed - because I'm the only one daft enough to leave my bedroom door open. The one call blanket usually finds a comfy spot on my legs.

RockingAmadeus · 15/11/2021 19:47

I get the death stare from the bedroom window and then his sweet voice starts up requesting breakfast

My Dcat spends a lot of time sat on the edge of the open window ( it's got a child lock on do he can't fall out ) where he meows at passing cats, dogs ,foxs, birds , plastic bags , leaves , and anything else that dares to pass in front of his house.

Once everything has been suitably reprimanded he then jumps the 6 + foot onto my bed, inevitably landing on me and jumps onto my head board a big chunky thing that about 4 inches across, he plays there for a bit dangling his paws off either side occasanally stretching down to bat me .
He will either then settle on the bed or go and get on my office chair and snooze untill it all starts again at about 3 / 4 am .

TurnUpTurnip · 15/11/2021 19:48

No way I wouldn’t like that

AlCalavicci · 15/11/2021 19:54

He he is on the window sill

Our cat has only been with us a few weeks but she doesn’t seem to want to be in our room at night so she sleeps in the hall as far as we know.

She has been bought several beds but prefers to sleep on the landing. Or a card board scratching pad! The slightest noise from us and she starts crying for food though.

Getting up for a wee in the night has become a guilt trip as she thinks she might be fed😳

This is her favorite spot of an evening. She has gained weight since she has been with us (was underweight when we got her) but hasnt quite grasped she doesn’t fit on the scratching pad fully anymore🤣🤣

Ours is shut in the kitchen overnight now. She used to sleep in the living room and appear in our bed about 5am, but could be persuaded to settle down until I got up at 6.30. During lockdown we were getting up later as WFH, and she became more and more of a pest, so DP insisted we give it a try. She has a cosy bed in the kitchen and is always still in it when whoever is first up goes through, and she trots through at night when I say “bedtime”. I did feel horrible shutting her in for the first week or so though!

kittenkipper · 15/11/2021 20:01

Yep. She sleeps on the bed with us- at feet overnight and then On/ in my arms after her 6 am visit to her food bowl. Not sure why she insists upon the position change of a morning , but then- who am I to question?

SmallWaistFatFace · 15/11/2021 20:02

My cat sleeps on my chest 😭😭😭

Jowak1 · 15/11/2021 20:03

Yes every night she sleeps at the bottom of our bed. I love having her asleep with us in our room.
