Do your cats sleep in your bedroom?

I have a kitten and a 3 year old cat. I love having them in our bedroom at night, it feels cosy when we're all together.

When they wake up very very early wanting breakfast, it's a different story! I wake up with the kitten sat on my head, the other cat walking on the head board, poking our faces and growling Blush.

When I'm home alone I keep them downstairs in the kitchen but I miss them when I do!

Is it just me that wants their cats close by at nightGrin?

My babies. They always go and sleep in the spare rooms if we have guests, then come back to us for breakfast wake up calls!

I've always had cats (41 years) and each one has slept in the bedroom, on a fleece blanket at the foot of the bed.

Nope , my cat likes to randomly attack me for no reason there is no way I would have him on my bed ever !

Dilbertian · 15/11/2021 21:52

MrFattyCat likes to sleep on my tummy if I'm lying on my back, or on my hip if I'm on my side. When I turn over he log-walks on me until I settle down again! If I'm snuggled close to dh, dcat can't be bothered to log-walk until I settle down. He just steps over onto dh and curls up on dh's hip instead.

My old cat would sleep at my feet and in winter would sneak up and under the duvet. I still miss the weight of him at the end of the bed.

Current cats hate each other and have to be separated, so one sleeps downstairs in the living room and one sleeps at the top of the stairs then has crazy zoomies at about 5am.

One of mine spoons me in the night Blush I wake up she she's behind me with her face nestled in my neck.

The other sleeps between my legs.

My husband doesn't get bothered at all and if I'm not home they rarely sleep in the bed.

SmartCar · 16/11/2021 11:09

Mine get put to bed downstairs only because it sets of my allergy if I sleep with them all the time. One off is fine.

Grandville · 16/11/2021 12:05

I let my previous cats sleep with me but they were rescues who were quite independent and I went out a lot.

My current two were lockdown kittens and I still wfh so I was concerned that if I let them sleep with me, they wouldn't be able to cope being left alone. One of them cries on and off at my door and has lately started rattling the door handle which is most disconcerting in the middle of the night!

Want2beme · 16/11/2021 15:33

My official cat sleeps with me. My lodgers sleep in the kitchen and, I'd say they pop out during the night.

My cats always sleep with me. I live alone and need the comfort of them near me.

Notdoingthis · 16/11/2021 22:00

No way. They are shut in the utility room with their beds, blankets and catflap. We let them them back in when we are ready in the morning. I would hate to be woken by a cat.

Pudmyboy · 16/11/2021 22:14

My boy joins me at some point in the night, ready to wake me at his convenience. Sometimes I stretch out in the bed and my leg accidentally meets him (can't say kick or push him as I slide under him). He then bites the covers in his sleep as I assume he feels he is being attacked. I have to stroke him till he wakes up and lets go. I am a bad cat slave!

Icantremembermyusername · 16/11/2021 22:24

DCat is out tonight. In a couple of weeks it will get too cold and she will remember that she hates being outside over night and the foot of her slave's bed is the best place to be!

NotMyCat · 16/11/2021 22:25

Nope. He sleeps in his own bed as apparently I am too fidgety and irritating Hmm
I tried to cuddle him once and he was practically "your side. My side. An no snoring"

On the bed with us.
For some reason, they wait patiently for breakfast.

sashh · 17/11/2021 05:01

On the bed, and on me.

adaptiveness · 17/11/2021 07:08

Eww. No. Sleeps downstairs. Gets breakfast when we are ready to get up.

MrsBertBibby · 17/11/2021 07:26

Nope, they are too fidgety, and indulge their obsession with trying to get in my wardrobe all night long if we let them. They sleep in the kitchen with beds, and under floor heating, and get fed and let out when we come down. Occasionally they get a night roaming, but it generally ends up with them getting banged up at 4.00am.

MrsBertBibby · 17/11/2021 07:29

I do wish we could have a remote opener for the kitchen door though. It's lovely when they come up in the morning.

violetbunny · 17/11/2021 07:30

Not just in our bedroom - often in our bed Grin

We have two siblings and they don't like sleeping close to one another. Boycat sleeps on me (usually between my legs) and GirlCat sleeps at DP's feet. However, often in winter I will wake up and find myself sandwiched between two cats under the duvet because they got cold. I refer to this as "cat sandwich".

GirlCat also often waits until after BoyCat gets up in the morning, then she comes under the duvet with me, kneads my chest and insists on being spooned. The photo is from earlier this week when neither of us wanted to get up!Smile

Nope - definitely not. They never have done. I value my sleep!

The cats have the run of downstairs overnight but no access to upstairs. They have food, water, litter trays, toys, blankets, their scratch post and the sofa, and it's been that way since the oldest was a kitten.

The dog sleeps in the bed though Grin but he doesn't chase things or jump on my bed at 2am or shout for food at 5am! In fact I'm awake now and he's curled up snoring next to me Wink

AmandaHugenkiss · 17/11/2021 07:32

Ours sleeps on the bed every night, he comes trotting up to bed with us and jumps on to snuggle down while we are brushing our teeth.

He’s a good sleeper though, all the way through, and he never stomps or shouts for breakfast he just waits for us to get up. Very weird for a cat!

I love this thread! I've always had cats and they have always slept in beside me until I met my DH, he is terrified our current youngest girl will bring in presents haha. She frequently does and we hear them playing in the hallway. We need to close our door tight as Dennis can open it 🤣

There's nothing more comforting than the weight of my baby boy cuddling on me and purring.
