Do your cats sleep in your bedroom?

I have a kitten and a 3 year old cat. I love having them in our bedroom at night, it feels cosy when we're all together.

When they wake up very very early wanting breakfast, it's a different story! I wake up with the kitten sat on my head, the other cat walking on the head board, poking our faces and growling Blush.

When I'm home alone I keep them downstairs in the kitchen but I miss them when I do!

Is it just me that wants their cats close by at nightGrin?

@AmandaHugenkiss

Ours sleeps on the bed every night, he comes trotting up to bed with us and jumps on to snuggle down while we are brushing our teeth.

He’s a good sleeper though, all the way through, and he never stomps or shouts for breakfast he just waits for us to get up. Very weird for a cat!

Wow he's a beauty 😍

Yep. They come and go through the night. Magic is fine and just settles down for a sleep and snores loudly. Cheddar wants cuddles. Makes biscuits and drools on my face. ConfusedShe had no idea how to sit still. So I'm then usually fully awake.

My cat likes to sleep under the bed in a storage box. Easily irritated by us moving around in the night.

CrumpleHornedSnowcack · 17/11/2021 11:21

yes but he's a very good boy does not pester for breakfast until he sees open eyes

Toddlerteaplease · 17/11/2021 12:16

How do they know when we begin to wake up. Cheddar seems to instinctively know when to come and poke me!

JoanOgden · 17/11/2021 12:27

She's probably been staring at you for hours waiting for the first sign of movement Grin

They can if they want. One does, the other only occasionally.

God no! Cat sleeps in the kitchen, because I don't want to be woken at 3am, when she thinks it's about time I gave her a snack.

My cats tend to cycle through favoured sleeping spots. Once they’ve got a favourite spot, it’s the prime spot for a few weeks and they become obsessed with it. Can be as anywhere as random as the piano stool, a corner of the kids room or a kitchen chair. It doesn’t really matter - it’s more the obsession with the spot that’s funny. Nothing will deter them from it.

My pillow is currently one of those spots. My cat was on it when I went to bed and even though I am an experienced cat servant, even for me I was not going to give up the whole of my pillow. I got into bed and made a lovely comfy fleecy nest down the end of the bed, lifted my cat up and off my pillow and placed her lovingly into the nest. By the time it took me just to lie back down, she had leapt off the nest, sprinted round to the head of the bed and leapt back up on my pillow. This happened three times before I gave up and slept with her basically on my head all night.

They do. Although I'm now pregnant so this will have to change next year. Don't know how they'll cope with that change!

Tilly curls up on the end of the bed when we go upstairs at bedtime. She used to ask to go out at 4am but since she hasn't been allowed out for 2 weeks she has stopped asking and stays on the bed until I get up x

Justcannotbearsed · 20/11/2021 07:18

Ours has only once slept on our bed, first night in new house….he. Was out of sorts. he prefers downstairs and will sometimes knock on the door if we sleep in past his breakfast time.

The dog hogs the entire bed.

silentpool · 20/11/2021 07:41

Nope he sleeps in the living room. I need my sleep!

LubaLuca · 20/11/2021 07:46

No they're shut in the utility overnight. They tear up and down the stairs and scrap on the landing if they're left to roam.

Gufo · 20/11/2021 07:52

Yes - usually one on my chest or shoulder and one on my legs 🤣

2reefsin30knots · 20/11/2021 07:57

Mine sleeps next to me, under the duvet with her head on the pillow next to mine. If that's how humans sleep, why wouldn't she?? Grin

She has biscuits down so she doesn't wake me up to feed her. However, if she gets up for a snack she then comes back and smacks me in the face (with claws if necessary) to get me to lift the duvet up so she can get back in (which, obviously, I do).

Exhausteddog · 20/11/2021 08:05

Our cats mostly sleep in DDs room for about 23 hours a day
Once I thought it would be nice to have boy cat in our room (before they entered their retirement/hibination period) It wasn't nice at all. He was really annoying and fidgety and like sharing a bed with a toddler. He has not been encouraged to sleep with us again although if he's curled up on the floor we don't move him.

nordica · 20/11/2021 08:05

All four of them usually sleep either on my bed or on their cat tree in the bedroom. They are really good about not demanding breakfast. Some mornings I think they're annoyed I've woken them up if I have to get up early 😹

ofwarren · 20/11/2021 08:07

We have 5, who all come in and out through the night. One spends all night on the end of my son's bed and this one in the photo sleeps in between my husband and I...

Sleep in whose bed?

Starlitexpress · 20/11/2021 08:14

Ours refuses to sleep on the bed of a night, preferring to lounge on the kitchen table, where she can keep watch on the garden and more importantly, the shared back wall/cat highway.

She doesn't like boxes either!

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/11/2021 08:14

Not sure how that happened, obviously only wanted the one of the cat to be posted..

HariboBrenshnio · 20/11/2021 08:30

One of mine sleeps on my sons bed every night without fail, even when he's at his dads. The other sleeps in the living room in the summer, and my bed when the nights get cooler.

Mornings, my son is up early and takes them both into his bed. When he's not here, they leave me until 7.30/8 but then I get a tap on the shoulder usually Grin

TacoTues · 20/11/2021 08:31

Most nights we have at least one with us. Both on colder nights.
