By popular request, a furtherance of the Saga of TC the Stripey.

For anyone unfamiliar, this is a story of a war of attrition over the last two years waged by a fat stripey cat on the innocent and long suffering members (feline and human) of the Grumpy household. Now running at almost 3000 posts, clearly TC would give Grendel a run for his money

All literary references welcome, we've already had Shakespeare, Saki, James Thurber, The KJV bible, Judith Kerr, EM Forster, Benny Hill and of course our own Supersimkin2 (to name but a few).

DS is feeling nervous since he's sitting on the chair under which TC is resting.

Our kitchen was breached today by our neighbour's bengal. While one of our cats hid in a box and the other hid in the hedge until I chased him out, at which point they appeared and claimed they'd had it in hand

How relaxed is TC in that photo?

We are only letting Basil outside supervised while he's still drugged up to the eyeballs. This afternoon TC decided to join him. Everyone seems very relaxed.

I walked past the boys a couple of times without a problem. The third time TC took exception, attacked my foot and bit my trousers. Glad he's still on form .

I suspect TC read your earlier post, Grumpy, about peace and harmony breaking out and deciding you were getting a little too complacent about the risk of attack. Hope Basil is feeling better.

What happened to poor Basil, have I missed something

Basil had a very expensive blocked urethra involving a hospital stay nearly two weeks ago. He's still on a drugs cocktail but is peeing relatively normally now. Vet seems pleased with progress.

In TC news, he had a major run-in with the grey and white cat on our front drive a few nights ago. (It didn't go unnoticed that he even has territorial fights on our property). He was VERY fazed by it and when a worried NDN came over to recover him from under our car, he (TC, not NDN) was a hissing, spitting ball of ferocity, something he normally reserves for me, resulting in NDN being savaged. After a day under house arrest, TC evidently wasn't injured and having missed him () briefly he's back with us 23 hours a day...

So he's basically doing you a massive favour of defending you and yours from the evil grey cat - and all you do is complain about it on the internet. Shame on you

TC is struggling with nursing Basil, running the home (yours) and dealing with intruders.

Interesting that his vantage point isn't his favorite yellow car - is the other one a bit taller, to give him a better view?

DW was using the (taller) yellow car yesterday. Always pragmatic, TC simply chose the next best available vantage point.
