Saving animals is the highest vocation, isn't it.

Capn's spent all day kipping on my pillow. He's just surfaced, stretched, done a blissful long pee, tasted and spat out a meatball (my meatball) and tottered back into bed. Lazy Sunday expert.

swampytiggaa · 17/05/2020 21:07

@Papergirl1968 I’m sorry you have such worries with your children 💕 my eldest is very challenging and currently isn’t in contact with me which while sad is also a relief 😢 she does contact her siblings so I know she is ok iyswim.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/05/2020 21:12

Was it an M&S meatball?.

coastergirl · 17/05/2020 21:25

Paper thank you for asking about Bertie. Your situation sounds so awful, I'm sorry you're going through all that.

I've had a very full on weekend with the kids so have just dropped the trap off today at the house he's visiting. He has very good taste, their garden is amazing! They aren't going to set it initially, just leave it nearby so he hopefully won't be spooked. We're playing the long game. He's happy and fed which is enough. The woman from the rescue is adamant that they shouldn't feed him for a few days and then set the trap where he's been going for food but I'm so worried he might go looking elsewhere. Any advice? I've also given them a manky old dressing gown that both cats sleep on so they might put that under the food bowl.

Hope you're all well.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/05/2020 21:39

I’d think the same as you tbh.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 17/05/2020 21:57

@TheLongRider - Congrats to LittleLongRider 🚴🏼‍♀️🏆💐💶

@coastergirl - you know Bertie best, go with whatever you think will work for him specifically. Good luck, Leroy sends a hopeful noseboop •

coastergirl · 17/05/2020 22:11

Thank you both. That helps. The last thing I want is him moving on again. The people who have found him say there's no rush at all and he's happy. I suspect if I showed any sign of not wanting him back then they would want him, but I really do want him back. I miss him.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 17/05/2020 22:16

And the weather's quite good too so you know he won't be cold and wet overnight. (Although I suspect he has somewhere perfectly dry and toasty, our local "stray" does.)

coastergirl · 17/05/2020 22:18

Exactly. He has access to their cellar so he may be going back when all is quiet and sleeping there until he hears them wake up.

Supersimkin2 · 17/05/2020 22:31

Cake Happy Birthday Little Long Cake

Hope you are both not too shattered by the charity bike ride. I failed my cycling proficiency test for damaging the instructor, but as more a fan of the, er, mental journey* me and Capn V are insanely impressed.

@Fluffycloudland77 does the sun rise in the east? Lamb kofta.

Incidentally, I don't know if this works where you are, but M&S is now as cheap as the other shops in London. Everywhere else has shot up by at least 10 per cent, M&S not - food costs the same as say Sainsbury's or Tesco. M&S food is miles better to boot & you eat everything down to the last scrap (unless you are Capn V).

Papergirl1968 · 17/05/2020 23:06

Yes, Fluffy, but I’ve also seen her be rather unkind to animals. In every way, she’s contradictory.
I’m so familiar with that feeling of being sad but relieved when they’re not around, Swampy. it just gets too much sometimes. I had a day off from caring for my elderly mom with dementia today because I’d had all I could take in terms of stress and worry.
Coaster, I think absolutely you’re doing the right thing. Continue to leave food out along with the cage so he gets used to it, and then when the food is put in the cage, hopefully he’ll take the bait, so to speak.

TheLongRider · 18/05/2020 07:47

Thanks for the birthday wishes for DD. She's sworn off exercise for the next day or so.

Coastergirl best of luck with Bertie. I really hope you have a happy result.

That looks like a pretty female. Maybe Ollie has a new girlfriend.

Papergirl1968 · 18/05/2020 20:58

It looks like Ollie! Long lost brother?

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/05/2020 21:05

Tbh the cat looks like she’s thinking the same thing.

ClientQ · 18/05/2020 21:06
