Stay strong, Coaster. I can’t imagine how hard it is.
We have (temporarily) been joined by dd1 and her dog. I didn’t want either of them here and made my feelings known but they literally had nowhere else to go.
Matt saw dog through a glass door and hissed and spat while dog wagged her tail. Socks hid under my bed for hours and when she did creep out she refused to eat.
Dog is used to cats apparently. But the cats aren’t used to dogs...
Fun times Hmm

coastergirl · 23/05/2020 19:34

The trap is hopefully being set tonight! Eeek!

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/05/2020 19:40

Oh I do hope you get him back tonight Coaster.

I wouldn’t trust a dog from travellers near cats Paper, I don’t think their discouraged from chasing animals smaller than them.

nettie434 · 23/05/2020 20:27

Hoping the trap works coastergirl.

papergirl1968 Flowers Realise this is not an easy situation to be in for you (or Socks and Matt)

Papergirl1968 · 23/05/2020 21:38

The cats have been slightly more relaxed today. Socks needs no excuse to have an attack of the vapours, drama queen that she is, but she deigned to nibble a bit of food while dog was out.
I’m not keen to have them meet. Although she’s supposed to get on with cats, she’s a big powerful dog and Socks at any rate would be no match for her.
It’s a right dilemma. Dd1 is struggling to find anywhere to live that is cheap, halfway decent and will take pets. Prices are crazy even for a studio flat, she has no money, and even before lockdown her work was sporadic. Sad
Coaster, I bet you don’t get a wink of sleep!

coastergirl · 23/05/2020 21:47

@Papergirl1968 your situation sounds so difficult! I had a friend who came over often. He acquired a dog who he said was great with cats. I wouldn't let him bring her over. I felt I had worked so hard and been so patient with Bertie to get him to trust us.

And then look what happened lol.

I am indeed nervous tonight. I just want him home.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/05/2020 21:55

DD 1 needs to find someone to take the dog. She can’t look after it.

I hope Matt and Socks will be OK.

coastergirl · 24/05/2020 01:45

I feel horrendous. I was sat up watching TV and text my friend saying I was shattered and desperate to go to bed but was waiting to hear about Bertie. Woke up at 1.15 to numerous texts and a missed call. She's caught him in the trap and was going to bring him round, but I fell asleep 😢😢😢 She said he was distressed and had caught his face and claws trying to get out. I can't get hold of her now. Why why why didn't I put my phone on loud?! 😢

nettie434 · 24/05/2020 02:07

Oh Coastergirl it will be ok. Don't blame yourself. You have spent so many hours trying to find Bertie that this is just the tiny last barrier to your reunion. He won't be happy tonight obviously but when you both see each other, that will make up for it.

coastergirl · 24/05/2020 03:18

@nettie434 You are so supportive, thank you. I just want him home and I'm gutted that I've delayed that, and inconvenienced the lovely lady who found him.

I'll post photos when I finally get him. And from then it's going to be a nightmare keeping him in for a while because this new house is very open plan.

Meanwhile here is Walter waiting for him.

Claws and faces heal, cats are very tough little creatures. It might just need a salt water bathing.

Supersimkin2 · 24/05/2020 07:33

Good luck @coastergirl.

Lazy Sunday here.

Supersimkin2 · 24/05/2020 07:43

Detail.

Supersimkin2 · 24/05/2020 07:44

Yayayyay!!!!! @coastergirl

SimbaNala12 · 24/05/2020 07:52

That's great news. I'm so happy for you, Bertie and Walter (I love their names).

coastergirl · 24/05/2020 08:17

Thank you all. I can't quite believe it. He's had strokes through the bars of the cage and was purring his head off. I've let him out and I think he's under the sofa. I just can't believe it!

I can't remember your name but thank you to the person who likes their names Walter and Bertie. ❤️

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/05/2020 08:35

YAYY!!!!!!!!!! Well done Coastergirl and the lovely people who helped trap him.

Is he OK?

swampytiggaa · 24/05/2020 08:44

Oh that’s just the best news ever! So pleased!

Defiantly41 · 24/05/2020 08:47

Oh@coastergirl, so, so pleased for you both

YesItsMeIDontCare · 24/05/2020 08:48

Oh coaster I am so, so happy for you!

Leroy sends Bertie a Welcome Home noseboop •.

TheLongRider · 24/05/2020 08:55

Oh thank goodness! I'm sure he knows he's back where he belongs.

nettie434 · 24/05/2020 09:04

That's such fantastic news coastergirl. All your efforts have paid off. Thank goodness Bertie found the nice person who fed him and put the trap down. I think you said you were on holiday next week. Now you can all have a lovely time with Walter AND Bertie in your new home.

Allergictoironing · 24/05/2020 09:35

Hooray! Bertie is home, we can all relax for a bit. Massive bunch of flowers & posh chocs for the lovely lady who found & trapped him methinks. Give him a scritch under the chin from me, and a head bop from Boycat & Girlcat.
