Stupid things you say to/or about the cat.

Does anyone else say stupid things to the cat or about the cat.

Every morning without fail I have to say the words 'dont listen to the cats bullshit hes already had Dreamies'

When I'm making packed lunches I shout the cat to tell him its 'Ham time' and he comes and sits and waits for a left over slither of ham.

I've just told him to stop rubbing his bumhole along my sofa, its rude, you dont see me rubbing my bumhole over him.

I think I'm losing the plot. Now I see why cat ladies are 'crazy' 😂

This morning DP caught me singing to BoyCat. He was like, "Are you singing to the cat?!" And rolled his eyes in disgust.

I mainly sing songs along the lines of "Mummy loves you, Boycat" and "Boycat loves Mummy" so perhaps the reaction was understandable 😂

keithschickrocks · 12/02/2020 06:38

Another one here who sings the "Lola" song to my male cat. It goes "his name was Pablo he was a showcat"❤️

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 12/02/2020 06:45

I may or may not have embarrassed myself in the vets when my last cat was in for jabs. As I secured her so she had nowhere to escape to, I started singing in her ear (Soft kitty, warm kitty) now as a round. Lol.

Then when she was jabbed and showed her displeasure by peeing on me, it changed to (Smelly cat) much to the vets amusement.

ChelseaCat · 12/02/2020 06:54

I don’t have a cat but I stop and speak to every cat I meet. When we part ways, I always tell them I love them😂

kemosabeimalone · 12/02/2020 06:58

I sing the Orville the duck song to mine: a winsome expression and head tilted to one side but change to his name so it’s ‘Monty who is your very best friend?’ ‘I’m going to mend your broken heart’ - he then gives me a look that would curdle milk! Grin

BovaryX · 12/02/2020 07:07

I sing to both Lord Furs. They are very partial to classical music, favourites include Erik Satie and Chopin. They sulk if I sing their 'own' song to their furry rival....

cajenchick · 12/02/2020 07:10

It's not so much what I say to her but what she says to me and the rest of the house. Usually she tells me how much she adores me in her sweet voice but then she taunts and roasts the men in the house in her haughty voice. They try to argue back but struggle as she's pretty spot in with her roasting Grin

RedSheep73 · 12/02/2020 07:13

We all talk to our cats don't we? I think they trigger that part of our brain that is primed to talk to our babies. I've never had to tell them it's ham time though, they always know if I go anywhere near the fridge!

Skyejuly · 12/02/2020 07:17

So glad to see I am not alone...

gatekeeper · 12/02/2020 07:22

my cat talks to me in a Yorkshiremans voice...possibly a councillor like the one in Billy Liar and regularly tells me he'll go to the foot of our stairs

My housekeeping abilities are also brought into question

Little sod!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 12/02/2020 07:28

Leroy gets very similar conversations, lots of questions (Who's Mummy's bestest big furry baby? Who does Mummy love more than anyone else in the whole wide world? etc) but I wouldn't call it stupid. Leroy does though 😁.

Unless I'm saying "Mummy's baby wanna go walkies? Do you wanna go outies? Shall we get your jacket?" in which case he tells me I'm very sensible and he would love to go.

fishonabicycle · 12/02/2020 07:46

I sing 'Pearl's a squitten' to the little cat.

Papergirl1968 · 12/02/2020 12:49

I wonder why the Lola song is so popular among cat slaves?!

SecretWitch · 12/02/2020 14:37

@Papergirl1968, I’m loving all the Lola cat singers here! Hope Barry sees this and understands how much we appreciate his feline friendly song!

iklboo · 12/02/2020 14:42

I totally don't sing:

Teatimes, it's the teatimes
It's the teatimes for the tittens' tums
When they have their teatimes
It goes in their gob and out their bums

To The Flintstones theme tune.

Oh no, not me. That would be ridiculous. Blush

Papergirl1968 · 12/02/2020 14:51

I think Bazza would approve, SecretWitch.
After all, Mandy was originally called Brandy and about a dog!
(Outing myself as a secret Manilow fan here Blush)

AudacityOfHope · 12/02/2020 14:55

DH has given our cat a Geordie accent Confused and makes him talk to me all the time. Or sometimes sing Lets Get Ready to Rhumble.

DH is not normal Grin

cajenchick · 12/02/2020 20:46

I've just sang Dream a little dream to my cat and she went all blinky and purry. She seemed to like me singing happy birthday a few weeks ago. I'll make this an evening ritual

hartof · 12/02/2020 20:49

I ask him if he's handsome, as if he's going to say anything other than yes 😊

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/02/2020 22:10

I sing Beatles songs (only ever Beatles songs, and I don’t even really like the Beatles) to our cat. Sometimes I make up a story for her about something that I hear on the TV. The other day there was a thing about the Ritz, so the story was how we would go there for afternoon tea in fancy dresses, and a gentleman would pay the bill because we would look so damn fine. We always go nice places in the stories.

My DP laughs at me, but I often hear him telling her how pretty she is.

jasjas1973 · 12/02/2020 22:15

I tell my cat off for not helping me do the dishes, clothes washing & drying but never ironing, to heavy for the poor thing or hoovering, not tall enough.... i try to be reasonable.

looondonn · 12/02/2020 22:22

Dancing around the kitchen with my lovely boy in my arms last week - had just told him he was the only man I would ever marry
Turned round to see my neighbour had popped in to get a tool, he heard everything

thirdpassport · 12/02/2020 22:26

Oh yes, mine has many songs and sayings I inflict on him every day...!
They include reminding him he doesn’t have any balls but he’s still the most handsome boy in the world Smile
And the term of endearment ‘mamma’s soft pussy boy’ (I know, but he’s so soft!)

HorseradishSnowflake · 12/02/2020 22:26

Ninja cat often wanders off over night hunting and comes back shouting at us. We then have a long conversation trying to persuade her that we have been here all along, it's her that's been missing. She backs down in the end.

SecretWitch · 12/02/2020 22:36

@Papergirl1968, I am now your fan. My friends and I used to sing Mandy on the coach to residentials all the time!
