Onwards and upwards for the denizens of the Litter Tray. Best of luck to all job-hunting, cat-mourning, Paws-swiping posters. I can't do a proper link to the old thread.

New boy cat arrives on Friday, a one-year old tabby boy currently under the moniker of "Bobby". I don't have a proper picture yet.

Papergirl yep, collected him at lunchtime. Seems pretty chilled out so far

Papergirl1968 · 12/01/2020 20:40

He looks it! Has he met the rest of the pride yet?

coastergirl · 13/01/2020 00:28

My 'not other half but baby's dad' is here. The cats adore him. Bertie snuggled on his knee for ages. Now it's Walter's turn.

Settling in really nicely, he's incredibly well behaved so far!

Look at little Walter, how fudgesome is he.

As for the utterly lovely new arrival...what's his name, or rather rank and title? Obv it starts HRH but I missed the rest.

Justonedayatatime11 · 13/01/2020 10:43

HRH Savannahglam Cheeky Charlie. 10kg of stunning f2 savannah. Incredibly well behaved, very chilled out and VERY difficult to lift!

Supersimkin2 · 13/01/2020 11:06

They know when they are too heavy to carry. It can induce a deterioration in behaviour Grin

Allergictoironing · 13/01/2020 12:30

Adult male F2 - bloody good thing he IS well behaved!

Was he rehomed for the usual reason - previous owners couldn't cope - or has he come direct from the breeder to you?

Justonedayatatime11 · 13/01/2020 12:59

Allergic bit of both. Was returned to breeder due to inability to cope, and then breeder to me. Infuriates me that a lot (not all) of people look at them, go wow at the size and the markings, and don't fully understand how much work and time you have to put in! I'm fortunate that so far he's looking pretty good, but I met another f2 up for rehoming last year whose owner thought it had been sensible to 'play rough' with him Hmm. Hence the poor cat being pretty much impossible to rehome.

Allergictoironing · 13/01/2020 13:16

I look at the size and markings, think "WOW" at the beauty and magnificence, and associate them with the fact that they are the signs of a close to wild animal. Yes I know they aren't, and I would adore meeting a reasonably behaved one, but I know I wouldn't be able to give one the life it would need.

Even one of my nephews, who goes mad for a "feisty" cat, regretfully decided that a Bengal or Savannah probably wasn't suitable & got a rescue moggy instead.

Justonedayatatime11 · 13/01/2020 14:12

I'm very fortunate in the sense that we have a very big catproofed garden, and my husband has built them all manner of climbing frames etc. They're incredible to own if you're prepared to put in the time and the work. Now, a Bengal on the other hand, not in a million years!

Supersimkin2 · 13/01/2020 15:38

@Justonedayatatime11 you and DH are heroes!!

Little K is all snowball fluff and Disney eyes but he's savage as buggery on my toes in the night.

Papergirl1968 · 16/01/2020 19:11

Needing a handhold here.
Socks got out at about 3pm. She was wandering around our garden then disappeared. I went to the house around the corner whose garden backs on to ours and she was in their garden and shot back through to ours through a hole in the fence when she saw me and the neighbour.
But when I got home and went to let her in, she’d gone again and there’s no sign of her. I’ve put her litter tray outside, cooked chicken and left the back door open for the smell to waft our, and walked around the corner and up and down the road in case she made her way to the front.
It’s wet and windy here and I can’t bear to think of her cold and frightened 😭

Justonedayatatime11 · 16/01/2020 20:50

Oh no Paper. Any dreamies you can give a shake? Hope she comes home soon

Supersimkin2 · 16/01/2020 21:04

Little K is going.

I just can't take it any more. He can't be tame. Who knows what's wrong with his guts, but the stench of his shit knocks you sideways when you open the front door no matter how often I clean.

He only comes out at night and can't be touched, which means i'm up all night struggling to interact. He's so jumpy he flees when I cough.

I can't manage. Things in the family are very bad, too - this is a horrible ending. I tried so terribly hard.

Turns out his siblings can't be tamed either - all but one.

Papergirl1968 · 16/01/2020 21:26

Been shaking Dreamies, Just.
Even Matt is looking for her, bless him.
I’m worried sick.
Just posted on our local Facebook page in case anyone has seen her but I think she’s too timid to approach anyone.
Lana, I’m so sorry, no one could have tried any harder than you. Flowers

Supersimkin2 · 16/01/2020 21:54

Good luck with the hunt Paper. I lost Mr C once and got him back by mewing (yep) when it had all gone dark and quiet. He mewed back and we found each other.

She's in no physical danger, it's only rain and wind and she'll have found shelter by now, don't you worry about that.

Papergirl1968 · 16/01/2020 22:00

I’m almost certain I saw her in the garden about 20 mins ago. I thought she’d run in through the open back door. No such luck, she’s vanished again but I’m relieved I saw her.

swampytiggaa · 16/01/2020 22:04

@Papergirl1968 hope she is home soon 💕

@Supersimkin2 I’m so sorry but you have tried so hard 💕

TheLongRider · 16/01/2020 22:25

@Supersimkin2 I'm so sorry but you have done your best with him. You have given him a home, toes to nibble, Dreamies to eat, shelter and comfort and love, lots of love. I hope you never regret trying. Flowers

@Papergirl1968 Socks is probably enjoying her stolen freedom. She'll put you through the wringer then dance home and complain about having gone out.

Socks is home! Little madam didn’t want to come in but was finally persuaded in with food.
I am wiped out! Off to bed!

Supersimkin2 · 16/01/2020 23:44

I do regret trying, because we both hoped and tried so hard. But it was hopeless from the off.

He was too sick and too wild, and maybe I tried too hard. After losing Mr C and being so fragile, plus the horror of the family problems (believe me, you don't want to know), I had wanted just a little bit of blue in the dark stormy skies.

A failed adoption couldn't come at a worse time.

There is a superb farm cat scheme run by Battersea that will give the darling little lad his own barn, bales of hay, friends, fields to run in and rats to catch.

I will make sure he has the warmest stable to sleep in, a megabox of dreamies and plenty of his favourite Gourmet soups.

He will be the most magnificent adult - he is already large and glorious. Let's think of him running free across green fields, tail high with joy, gold eyes flashing with triumph as yet another squirrel meets a grisly end Grin

Supersimkin2 · 16/01/2020 23:44

Yayayayya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TheLongRider · 17/01/2020 00:23

I'm glad that Socks is home, they are awful at terrorising their humans.

Little K will turn into a magnificent beast alright, a true tabby Lord of the Manor.

As for family problems, I can feel them lurking. Give me five years and I'll have the menopause, a teenage daughter and very elderly parents. I don't need a soothsayer to predict my future.

Papergirl1968 · 17/01/2020 00:36

Lana, my dds are adopted. Both have loads of issues. I’m currently not having any contact with the oldest, and the youngest went back into care a few months ago so my contact with her is very limited too.
Loads of people have asked me if I regret adopting them, and my answer is no. I’ve tried so hard and I’ve failed but the alternative would have been to spend the rest of my life thinking “what if...?”
No matter how much we want something to work out, sometimes it just doesn’t. It bloody hurts, I know.
You did your very best, but whatever happened to Little K when he was tiny left its mark, just like my dds’ early experiences did on them.
Look after yourself, lovely lady. Get well and recover your strength, physically and mentally x
