Hand hold needed. My baby girl is in the vets after collapsing

I have a beautiful baby girl cat, she's not quite 2 yet. She has single pawedly got me through the last year or so of MH issues just be being the best and most loving cat I've ever known. I love her more than most people.

She came in about 9pm last night and was a bit quiet and off her food. Came down this morning and she went to jump on the windowsill but couldn't get up, she then collapsed and couldn't walk and was trying to crawl away from me but couldn't get up.

I rushed her to the emergency vets, by which time she could walk again but seemed really dazed and confused. Normally at the vets she is constantly trying to climb up onto me and hide but she just laid on the table with her eyes half closed.

They have kept her in for observation and tests.

Please please keep everything crossed that she is going to be ok. I really don't think I could cope with losing her.

Wolfiefan · 03/07/2019 21:17

We shall all keep thinking of her then and sending get well thoughts.

Some good and some not so good news.

Creatinine and Urea levels have come down slightly but still at a critical level. Creatinine is now at 746. However she has developed high blood pressure which is very common with kidney disease.

Going for another couple of days fluids and they are starting with some kidney and BP medication from tomorrow morning. More blood tests Saturday to see if there is any more improvement.

This is so sad. How can people be so bloody cruel to poison beautiful animals. She's a beautiful cat! I hope she gets better soon😞❤️

Wolfiefan · 04/07/2019 18:57

Really hoping for good news on Saturday. Flowers

JaimeBronde · 04/07/2019 18:59

Fingers & paws crossed for Ivy. She's so pretty.

Veterinari · 04/07/2019 19:14

OP my only advice is to make decisions according to her clinical condition not her blood results. Yes those values are very high and it does fit with toxin exposure - something like Lily pollen as a PP mentioned. But the important think is to treat her as a cat, not a set of blood results.

What’s her urine specific gravity? This tells you if the kidneys are doing their job of concentrating urine. Is she passing protein in her urine?

The fact that she's Eating and active is good- well done on getting her to the vet so quickly

Sakura7 · 04/07/2019 19:27

Poor little girl, I bet she can't wait to get home. The positive is that she's hanging in there and doing pretty well considering. The medication should help her. Fingers crossed for Saturday.

BurntSausage · 05/07/2019 09:35

Oh my god, you poor thing. She’s a beauty. We’re going through a similar thing with our old lady cat at the moment - she’s had chronic kidney disease for a year now and isn’t doing too well at the moment. It’s so awful when they’re ill. Sending you and Ivy lots of love.

cricketmum84 · 06/07/2019 17:29

Ivy cat update and really good news.

Repeat blood tests have shown her creatinine levels drop to 505!! And phosphorus from 60 to 36!

Now while this does look like a huge jump it's still way way over normal levels but the vet was optimistic that they could keep dropping!

We are booked in to visit tomorrow morning, I've missed her so much and can't wait for some snuggles! there is a chance that if things keep progressing this way they have been we could have her home in 4 days!!!! The vets are amazed at her fight and her improvement.

A huge thank you to each and everyone of you that's been sending positive thoughts.

Get better soon puss

Wolfiefan · 06/07/2019 17:40

Oh I do hope those levels keep falling. Keeping fingers and toes and paws crossed too.

SheSnapsThenSheFarts · 06/07/2019 17:49

I have everything crossed for you both xx

PenguinsRabbits · 07/07/2019 10:34

Wishing Ivy a continued recovery and glad she has you. Bear

Vinorosso74 · 07/07/2019 10:40

I hope you enjoy visiting her today. Great news she's doing so well too.

cricketmum84 · 07/07/2019 11:50

Ah it was lovely. She seemed to have more fight in her today, wanting to jump off the table and having a wriggle when I picked her up! Still go lots of kisses and cuddles though.

Just waiting on an update from the vet later this afternoon and then more bloods tomorrow.

That's great she's trying to escape, sounds like she wants to be back home with you. She looks so small though that might be as my 14 year old cat has been stuffing herself silly this past year Smile

cricketmum84 · 07/07/2019 12:57

@PenguinsRabbits she's a very small cat. We call her Lady dainty paws! Even at her health check in April she was still less than 3kg.

She seemed to had lost a little today, her spine was more pronounced than usual and found her neck seemed skinny. Fingers crossed she will be home soon and we can start to feed her up!!

Wolfiefan · 07/07/2019 13:59

Good luck with the bloods. She sounds feisty and determined. A great sign!

Mia184 · 07/07/2019 21:28

She is gorgeous! I hope the tests turn out alright and you will be able to take her home soon!

Sakura7 · 07/07/2019 21:51

That's great news, she is a fighter! I'm sure you'll have her home soon.

gwhizz75 · 08/07/2019 13:55

Thinking of you and Ivy OP, great to hear she is making steps in the right direction. I hope she gets to come home with you soon.

cricketmum84 · 08/07/2019 22:38

Ivy cat update:

Kidney blood tests have reduced a little again today.

She’s been a naughty and pulled her drip out this afternoon. Unfortunately cos they have been in and out of her veins for the last 9 days they can’t now get another drip in.

The plan is to try her without IV fluids for 48 hours and see how she copes.

Repeat bloods on Wednesday will tell us whether she can cope and survive without the IV or whether we need to say enough is enough now. She’s been on the IV for well over a week and if she deteriorated it basically mean she can’t survive without it.

Please keep keeping those fingers and paws crossed for Wednesday.

They are sooooo crossed. Hoping for good results and her naughtiness to be a good sign! Feeling better?

PenguinsRabbits · 08/07/2019 22:47

Hope she continues to be able to battle the illness and will be home with you soon. Bear
