Come one, come all to the Olli et al. appreciation thread.

Mr C has started wheezing again. Give me strength.

On the upside, might see Nurse Lee tomorrow. Not in my skimpy lace nightie, Spart (good plan tho Grin).

My pair are in a major sulk. Just got in from what was supposed to be my first day at a super new job and they have stayed upstairs and are ignoring me for being out all day.

Well they will be happy enough tomorrow - supposed new employer has decided to withdraw the role & not take anyone on at all now so I won't be working after all Sad. At least they are paying me for the week. No issues with me, apparently the temp they had in there last week had something to do with deciding that they can spread the work out among the existing staff (hate hate hate).

LanaorAna2 · 04/02/2019 18:18

That film shows Ollie pretending he's the one being trained.

That's shocking, Allergic. hope you didn't give up another job for that one.
Ollie is cute as always, *ollivander." Matt is partial to a bit of cheese too.

Papergirl1968 · 04/02/2019 18:28

Ollivander.

Allergictoironing · 04/02/2019 18:37

Papergirl I wasn't IN another job, but I did turn down a different job and 2 interviews just on Friday for this one.

Ollie is adorable, as always Grin

Ollivander84 · 04/02/2019 19:25

Ollie has demanded outside. I said no, so he scratched the sofa with one paw and glared. We compromised on me opening the door rather than him climbing out the window HmmBlush

LanaorAna2 · 04/02/2019 19:51

Bastards Allergic.

Papergirl1968 · 04/02/2019 22:03

That's really sickening, Allergic.
Hope it is fate and an even better job is right around the corner for you.

Allergictoironing · 04/02/2019 22:28

Any bloody job would do me right now! Been turned down for 3 in the last week as over qualified "so you'd get bored" - let me decide whether I'd be happy doing a crappy data entry type job Angry

Papergirl1968 · 04/02/2019 23:29

Ah, the dreaded "over qualified" - AKA "you might be so good you'd end up as my boss."
That reminds me of when my sister took redundancy from her job as a manager at the council, had a break for a few months, then looked for something less stressful.
She got turned down by Sainsbury's for being "too posh!"
Funnily enough, she's back at the council now in a less demanding, part time role.

Allergic Are you using the same CV for each application? I have a few versions. One for my 'real' job, one for retail, one for hospitality, one for IT etc. I do omit some qualifications from my 'I just need any damn job' cv.

I wonder what would be on the CVs of our furry dictators?

Training and management skills, obvs. Multi-tasking (appearing to be asleep while rotating an ear like a radar dish in case someone breathes near a packet of Dreamies)?

Allergictoironing · 05/02/2019 08:08

I have a number of CVs of course. 95% of the time these days you don't even get a "thanks but no thanks" email from recruiters, these have all been jobs I've interviewed for and I've done my damnedest to make it clear I don't actually WANT something that matches or exceeds what I was doing 15 years ago - I just want a nice comparatively easy job with a few totally mindless elements to it, that I can just drop at 5pm & ignore until 9am the next day.

LanaorAna2 · 05/02/2019 09:00

I had to give up being freelance because I never got a day off. Believe you me, that is not a stealth boast Allergic - people call you at 10pm and start again at 6am if they think you know what you're doing ie their job. It was bally awful.

I am completely with you about wanting a job that's a job, not manning a 24/7 crisis line for anyone who's paid more.

The upside is that being good at things is a cracker if you want to do something else entirely which fits in slightly better with wanting to be a human being. And other commitments, of course.

Some of us have important petcare schedules to take care of Grin.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/02/2019 09:07

So sorry to hear that Allergic. That's an awful way to treat someone.

Allergictoironing · 05/02/2019 12:14

Well I have managed to get back one of the interviews I turned down on Friday, and the other one the job has been withdrawn pending an internal candidate sift, so could have been even worse I suppose.

Boycat is being very clingy this morning, presumably because I was out all day yesterday.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/02/2019 12:15

Good luck!!!

LanaorAna2 · 05/02/2019 13:14

That's cracking news - Best of British at the interview.

No doubt Boycat will have a nice kip on your smart jacket beforehand.

OP posts:
Allergictoironing · 05/02/2019 15:45

That would be better than yesterday. I got my smart best black business suit out from the one room they are shut completely out of, put it on my bed & then went for a quick pee. Only to come back to him quietly throwing up on the skirt. Luckily I have black trousers that go with the jacket....

Interview will go one of 3 ways probably. 1) Overqualified. 2) Come second to someone with a little bit more experience of the specific industry they are in (as opposed to the required skill set, as mine is a near enough perfect match). 3) Won't be a fit regarding personality.

I'm sort of used to coming second in interviews (sigh).

Papergirl1968 · 05/02/2019 16:31

Good luck, Allergic. when is it?

Allergictoironing · 05/02/2019 17:10

10:00am. Not going to get excited about it, as said above I usually get good feedback & come second.

LanaorAna2 · 05/02/2019 18:50

...sick on your interview skirt Grin Someone loves their Mum very, very much.

Why not use the interview to ask for feedback on what you could have done different if nec. Although isounds like nothing much, which is good news.

Mate, as for 'coming second', in my world that is defined as 'Neil from upstairs was promised it months ago'.
