I think she did it because dh is home, but normally works away during the week 😒😩

Dear Gawd, what a week. Exited front door to find the finale of Prime Suspect in full action - men in plastic suits and masks. Hundreds of police looking pale and worried. Street roped off and I can't get to Tesco for Mr C's Sheba. A poor little boy was murdered on the doorstep this afternoon.

He was waiting for a bus.

Now all the fireworks are going off and every bang sounds like a gunshot. Mr C has gone to bed. I am going with him in a minute.

It's a really odd feeling to walk out of your front door and be faced with men in hazmat suits. It's beyond quiet round here now. Hushed; respect in the face of death.

The young, sad copper to whom I offered tea said it was 'probably drugs'. The police hate it more than anyone. He cheered up when I told him the chippy had won a hipster prize for Best Chips and said he might go there. Then the owner offered all the police a fish supper on the house. They are going sadly in pairs and having a sitdown before returning to the grim task of combing the pavements.
