All the yellow stickers today were in the vegetarian section. Mr C not wildly impressed with the haul. M&S Falalalalalafels are delish, tho' .

Ollivander84 · 15/07/2018 22:11

Not my cat is demanding I give her floofy belly rubs

Mr C has rejected both breakfasts and is staring at the chewsticks, eyes narrowed to slits.

cozietoesie · 16/07/2018 14:15

Just give in then.Grin

I'll think you'll find that's how Lana and I get through the day anyway Cozie.

Asbo has found my heated furry throw from Christmas and snuck onto it yesterday. He was evicted but honestly when your covered in fur what makes you lie on synthetic fur?.

OldSpeclkledHen · 16/07/2018 17:57

@Fluffycloudland77 ASBO!! It's 30degrees!! 😱

Ollivander84 · 16/07/2018 18:11

We are off for a steroid jab and weigh in. Ollie fuming

Mine still seem to want to spend half the day snuggled up on a pile of old clothes in the bottom of the wardrobes even in this weather, sometimes both of them together which must be even hotter. They do occasionally collapse stretched out on either the back of the sofa or the laminate flooring...

cozietoesie · 16/07/2018 18:45

It's not as hot as that here - not even 20 degrees.

Ollivander84 · 16/07/2018 18:47

19c here. The vet had to get assistance Blush
3.4kg, he said his weight is stable but he could do with 0.2kg or so on

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 16/07/2018 18:52

Stable is something, though.Smile

Ollivander84 · 16/07/2018 18:57

Stable definitely didn't describe his behaviour

OP posts:
LanaorAna2 · 16/07/2018 19:17

36 degrees inside this house. Maybe PB should come for tropical holiday?

Mr C reclining in box. I kipped in the afternoon, given you can't sleep at night. Bought books to read instead.

Stable is not bad eh O as C says. Bring on the crackling crisps...Mr C's off for blood tests next week after he 'refused' last time - at least you got the needle in Grin

cozietoesie · 16/07/2018 19:28

How shall they ensure his 'co-operation' next week? Grin

Ollivander84 · 16/07/2018 19:36

Yes needle in and vet withdrew very speedily Grin
Is now sat on my lap chirruping sweetly. I can't hold him at the vets as neutropenic so can't risk bites!

OP posts:
LanaorAna2 · 16/07/2018 20:34

I've begged Nurse Lee to be there and the lady vet, neither of whom the little angel has ever become 'frisky' with. Nurse Lee is a hero, he can get Mr C to behave in a millisecond. Usually.

Well C while you were ill a shop opened up near here ....brown and red catnip mice handmade in Nepal in the window. I scuttled back to get some and the whole place had vanished! was only a popup shop! Bah to these new trends!!

Now I think about it PB is not missing out - the mice were vast, bigger than Oli. How are you feeling? I hope you are resting.

cozietoesie · 16/07/2018 22:14

Not great, sadly. I'm trying to rest but it's not easy.

LanaorAna2 · 16/07/2018 23:50

Convalescence is proper work, isn't it, tsk. Must be really hard for you. We are all with you in spirit. Hang on in there, things will improve although obviously one is too weak to believe they will. Systems need time to heal, annoyingly. Always more time than you think, as well.

What I found helpful is anything with good sensory input that relieves the boredom and stress of being ill but sidesteps the inconvenient fact that you are knackered out and can't do anything.

There are times in life when trivia of all varieties is essential, and this is now.

Don't watch the news or do anything elephantine eg cook a fiddly meal, it won't end well. Ditto DIY or even painting your nails, these require strength - which you are trying to gain, not expend. Bugger housework, for a start - you are ill. Respect that.

  • books with pictures (less effort than words)
  • anything short - eating an eclair, book of cartoons, checking out website of kittens, then have a rest
  • student telly eg Come Dine with me and Storage Hunters (fascinating)
  • staring at the ceiling and not not thinking about anything inc. feeling guilty. This is called 'contemplation' and in the old days would have been seen as evidence one is a deep thinker. Not getting anywhere is the point. See Western Philosophy as proof.
  • plant seeds or buy plants (only takes a minute, cheering, covers dust)
  • browsing expensive food shops online eg Partridges, Paxton & Whitfield or F&M (to whet fragile appetite - I never had this issue)
  • buy picnic food only - cheese, bread, pate, quiche, cake - it costs less than you think and at least you can be fed without hassle. Also nibbly which is useful.
  • demand foods you really, really like. (my DF practically had a Starbucks drip when he nearly died once, worked a treat)
  • a nice dressing gown.
