My beautiful cat is missing

Just that, really Sad

She's a house cat and just have got out without me noticing when I let the dogs out, normally not a problem, but I must not have seen her before I shut the door and now she's gone. I'm
Not even sure how long she's been out, and I feel awful.

I've had a wander round the streets, but it got too dark and meant the house was shut up, anyway. I'm now sitting with the back door open and the kitchen light on.

Please tell me she'll be ok and come back, even if you don't believe it Sad

Our cat went missing for 4 months ! We got her back she was about a mile away. Got her back as a kind lady rang her the number on her disc round her neck. Do the hoover trick for sure. Really hope your cat comes back. It’s very traumatic for you. I did 1000s of posters too.

SandunesAndRainclouds · 19/01/2018 20:31

Keeping my fingers crossed for you OP. My boy went missing - very much a home cat and never went out for more than a couple of hours. I finally found him after 5 weeks, he was less than half a mile away but had crossed a dual carriageway and must have been totally disorientated.

There’s also a website called petslocated.com, the RSPCA use it too. Good luck Flowers

When my indoor cat went missing she was literally hiding in the NDN garden under a divan bed (classy), about 15m from our back door. If they get scared they may not come even if called. I had spent ages calling by and looking, I even looked under the bed but didn't see her (it was too dark). I read an article online be that said most cats will be within 1/4mile of the house and to use a torch to help you spot them. I went out with the torch and it caught her eyes under the bed. I called her but she still didn't come, I had to physically remove her. So she could be really close but scared and undercover, get a torch and search, she may not come to the sound of your voice.

Does she know dreamies? I can get my semi-indoor cat back every time by shaking a bag of dreamies and calling her name...

Toddlerteaplease · 19/01/2018 20:49

One of my indoor cats got out last year. She was found hidden between next doors bins. I think she decided the big wide world was a bit big and scary. My neighbour had seen her there 3 hours earlier. Think i aged about 20 years!

@PineappleExpress hiya, i posted the thread that @DancesWithOtters linked to above Smile

My cat went missing the week before christmas and we got her back last Thursday, so she was gone for 25 days! I did everything- posters everywhere, posted hundreds of flyers through letterboxes, posted on all the local facebook pages, ad in local paper...just everything. I was utterly heartbroken and christmas felt a bit flat without her Sad

She happened to stroll into a lady's house who works at the post office, where a poster was displayed. She recognised her & called me, and we've now got her home!

She hasnt been missing for long so dont give up hope. Keep looking outside & calling for her. I'm sure she will turn up eventually. Our kitty was out there somewhere through freezing weather & new years eve fireworks, and shes right as rain!

No idea where she had been, but she was found 2 miles away! She hadnt lost any weight so i assume someone must've been feeding her. Shes also very friendly, and thats what helped us find her in a way!

Thinking of you - you will get amazing support on here. Smile

PineappleExpress · 19/01/2018 22:05

She never comes running for Dreamies. I've had a bit of a look around with a torch, but there aren't many proper front gardens here, so it was just a bit of a sweep under cars.
Thanks for all the positivity and happy endings. I'm going to get some sleep, so fingers crossed a cold little nose wakes me up soon

I was advised to empty the hoover outside when my indoor cat got out. Two hours later (after being gone for 3 days!) she was meowing outside my window!

No Sad
It's been raining since about 1am, and she doesn't like the rain, so I'm not sure I'll have any luck until it dries out a bit. Going to go for a wander soon and knock on some doors

There is no way that Snorg got out, that she couldn't have heard me calling for her, or heard the dreeemies being rattled. She is Probably very close buy. Dances, both girls are fine thanks.

Hope she comes home soon.

Without wishing to going into detail, do please report missing cats to the police (after a reasonable interval, so a cat who often stays out all day isn't "missing" after twelve hours but an indoor cat would be). They won't do anything but the information can be useful to them.

freshstart24 · 20/01/2018 14:22

So sorry to read this OP. My cat went missing last week- he is allowed outdoors but always comes back at dusk but for some reason he stayed out in pouring rain until 5am. I believe your cat will come home.

It's likely that your cat is hiding somewhere not very far away. I'd leave the door open if you can- so when he feels dafe he can make a dash for it.

I find that even friendly cats are very wary at being approached outside so if he may not come to you even if he can hear you. If can make his own way into the house he may make a dash when he feels it's safe to do so.

Meanwhile consider leafleting neighbours, putting up posters and posting on local Facebook sites.

Hope he's back very soon. Xx

PineappleExpress · 20/01/2018 17:34

Thank you. I'll try reporting to the police now.
The back door has been open since I got in yesterday afternoon. I had to bring in the food and litter box, though, because the rain was starting to flood them.

I'm in South Wales, @DancesWithOtters

I thought I heard her (recognisable, to me) meow earlier and went running downstairs, but she wasn't there Sad

I went for another wander round the estate earlier and have some people on the look out for her. Hopefully she heard me, at least and knows I'm looking for her

I tried googling the local station's number, but it takes me to a page that says I don't have permission to view the page... Confused

I hope she comes home soon Flowers

My cat went missing for a few days, we searched and searched for her, nothing.

I put her litter tray outside and she can't back hours later. Might be worth a try.

Hope she's back soon.

PineappleExpress · 20/01/2018 21:06

Thanks. Her tray has been outside since yesterday evening, although I did have to bring it in for a bit today when the rain started filling it up! She hadn't used it much since he last time I changed it, so maybe the scent isn't strong enough

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/01/2018 13:42

Have you had a look to see if there are any local lost pets Facebook type things?
Local vets / rescues in case she's been handed in?

RaptorsCantPlayPoker · 21/01/2018 14:21

Oh OP. Praying for a speedy return of your kitty Flowers

PineappleExpress · 22/01/2018 13:46

Thank you.
Yes, I've rung all the local vets, cats protection, posted to Facebook groups and pages, and informed the microchip people who send out an alert to lots of different places within a 30 mile radius. Sadly no news from them yet.
There was a possible sighting on a neighbourhood social networking site, so I spent two hours wandering around that area. No sign of my cat, but I did make a handsome new friend, who followed me around pretty much the whole time. Think I'll head back there tonight when it's a bit quieter as it's close to train tracks and a noisy nursery.
