Our cat has been missing for 4 days :(

My beautiful baby girl (nearly 3) has been missing since Sunday evening (so that's 4 nights she's been gone for now) and we have not seen her since. The longest she has ever been gone for was about a day and a half.

DH and I are so worried about her. On Tuesday evening we posted flyers through the letterboxes of the surrounding streets (about 100) and stuck them to lampposts. Have informed local vets and shared on social media (my page and local pages). Called the council to check if they have cleared any cats from the road since Sunday evening but they haven't (which gives me hope). But we have not had any response at all.

I just have no idea what to do from here, we are devastated and cant even think about Christmas now. We are calling her and looking for her regularly but no joy. I'm especially worried because its cold out there. I'm so hoping she is shut in somewhere and she gets let out soon, or has gone off for a long walk. She is such a nosey/curious/friendly little thing, so maybe she is staying at someone else's house.

Sorry for the ramble, just wanted to get everything off my chest. I think we've pretty much done everything we can for now (tempted to distribute flyers further afield, but how much further?? You could go on forever). Just miss her so much and want her home for Christmas :-( Can't stand the thought of her being trapped somewhere and being cold/starving/dehydrated Sad

Our cat went missing for five weeks after we moved house. She turned up a mile away. She had been coming in to watch the church choir rehearse every week and was very healthy, though she had a feral miaow that sounded nothing like it had done previously. There is hope!

rainbowcakes · 30/12/2017 18:12

@Weedsnseeds1 haha oops! He is a cheeky bugger, i just looked out the kitchen window and hes in our back garden again! My DH said he was trying to get in the back door at 3am this morning! 😑

Lets hoping i will hear something when the industrial estate opens up next week :)

@Overthehillsandfaraway8 Thank you for your post, that makes me feel a bit better Smile
Bet you couldn't believe it after 5 weeks!

This is day 13 SadSad

Quite impressed with the choir watching cat, don't think mine's musical

Just checking in to send positive search vibes for you x

Bibbetybobbetygreen · 01/01/2018 07:22

This isn’t her is it? Didn’t think so as feet not white, but not sure if they were dirty in this pic?

rainbowcakes · 01/01/2018 08:52

@BulletFox @smashbake thank you, reading this thread keeps me going

@Bibbetybobbetygreen ahhh someone tagged me in a photo of this kitty yesterday on FB, but it isn't Polly Sad thank you so much for remembering and thinking of her xx

@DancesWithOtters still not heard anything 😭 a lady from the local paper phoned me yesterday, she is going to put up an advert on their website this week & and advert in the paper next week (too late to get it in this week due to the Christmas break). Just hoping & hoping someone sees it & recognises her xx

At least you're getting a few potential sightings.
I hope she wasn't outside in the storm last night.Sad

rainbowcakes · 03/01/2018 20:12

@Weedsnseeds1 hope she found somewhere save to shelter if she was outside Sad

A lady who lives the other side of town has offered to distribute some flyers/posters around her area, plus put them up at her work and in her car which was really lovely Smile I took all the flyers I had round to her house earlier (around 200) and she took all of them bless her!

I know it's an odd suggestion but if you're on Twitter or facebook can you ask your local district or parish council to share a post about her? I do NHS comms/social media but work with the councils and they sometimes post missing cat or dog information. Most councils are only followed by local people to that area so it reaches your target audience.
I do home you get her home soon

Weedsnseeds1 · 04/01/2018 10:38

That's a really good idea pterobore.
We have a Parish Magazine that gets put through every door in the village, so something like that would be perfect.

BluebellTheDonkey · 04/01/2018 17:09

Not sure if you've said but have you put a poster up in the local vets? This is how my cat was eventually found after 6 weeks.

Incrediblehulky · 04/01/2018 23:30

Hi Rainbowcakes, I hope that you are ok. I'm sorry you are going through this, I understand how upsetting and stressful it is ☹. Please dont give up hope missing cats do come home/end up being found all the time. My old boy went missing for well over a week a few years back and I was absolutely beside myself with grief and worry. I did as you have done with hundreds of posters through doors and lots tied to lampposts in plastic wallets. I did find him as a result of this, some very kind man had spotted him in his garden and contacted me, he had gone when I got there but ended up finding him in a nearby garden - he went straight to the vet the next day and spent a day on a drip because he was dehydrated and had hurt his paw but other than that he was fine and completely recovered. Unfortunately he died less than a year later (unrelated to going missing) and I still miss him dreadfully many years later. Please don't give up hope. One thing I remember in my searches for my boy was to try looking and calling in the early hours of the morning when its all quiet with no cars around as that's when cats like to lurk around and come out of hiding - I know it's exhausting enough anyway but perhaps you could try that? Best of luck and I'll be thinking of you.

rainbowcakes · 05/01/2018 14:24

Thanks everyone for your kind replies.

@pterobore thats a great idea, ill look into it this afternoon- thank you.

@BluebellTheDonkey I have put a poster up in the vets she's registered to, but not the one over the other side of town - ill do that this weekend, thank you

@Incrediblehulky ah its the worst feeling! Trying not to give up hope but its so hard! Sorry to hear about your boy Sad but thats great he came back! I have been out early morning calling but maybe i will go a bit further afield. Thank you Smile

Another lady called me yesterday saying she thinks Polly was at the bottom of her garden, but had gone towards the allotments & the street opposite. I was at work so couldn't rush round to check Sad had a look round the area when I got home, but no sign!

rainbowcakes · 08/01/2018 21:27

I'm sorry its really upsetting when your cat goes missing.Dont give up home though loads return months later. I'm on a local lost and found pets site and its amazing with cats how far they wander.
In 3 years I've lost 3, one we think was taken by a fox as she was disabled and there were 5 foxes in the neighbours garden a few days before. Another one wandered off at night and was never seen again. My current one was found after 10 days. He just goes out on his harness now as I'm not having him going missing again!
Hope you get some good news soon and if shes not been found then I bet shes someplace elce. Cats are very like that.

BulletFox · 08/01/2018 23:26

There was an article in the telegraph earlier about one which went missing for 15 years...!

Hope she comes back, it would be lovely to hear

ToadOfSadness · 09/01/2018 17:58

There is a section on Gumtree for missing and found pets. (I have just looked on there). You could add her as missing.

Incrediblehulky · 10/01/2018 15:06

Still thinking of you rainbowcakes and hoping you find her very soon 😿😿😿

rainbowcakes · 10/01/2018 18:43

@Rudgie47 thank you, still hoping she will just turn up! Even if it takes months they definitely do like to go wandering! Its always reassuring to hear about cats who come back after going missing for so long x

@ToadOfSadness thats a great idea, thank you! I'll do that this evening.

Thanks everyone for your lovely support x
