Our cat has been missing for 4 days :(

My beautiful baby girl (nearly 3) has been missing since Sunday evening (so that's 4 nights she's been gone for now) and we have not seen her since. The longest she has ever been gone for was about a day and a half.

DH and I are so worried about her. On Tuesday evening we posted flyers through the letterboxes of the surrounding streets (about 100) and stuck them to lampposts. Have informed local vets and shared on social media (my page and local pages). Called the council to check if they have cleared any cats from the road since Sunday evening but they haven't (which gives me hope). But we have not had any response at all.

I just have no idea what to do from here, we are devastated and cant even think about Christmas now. We are calling her and looking for her regularly but no joy. I'm especially worried because its cold out there. I'm so hoping she is shut in somewhere and she gets let out soon, or has gone off for a long walk. She is such a nosey/curious/friendly little thing, so maybe she is staying at someone else's house.

Sorry for the ramble, just wanted to get everything off my chest. I think we've pretty much done everything we can for now (tempted to distribute flyers further afield, but how much further?? You could go on forever). Just miss her so much and want her home for Christmas :-( Can't stand the thought of her being trapped somewhere and being cold/starving/dehydrated Sad

Our cat was missing for 2 weeks and then suddenly turned up very skinny and starving. I guess he'd been stuck somewhere, though I'd checked all the garages nearby so maybe someone's shed.

I hope your kitty comes home soon.

Thanks so much everyone for your support & suggestions, and also stories of your kitties returning Smile

@Weedsnseeds1 thats so kind, thank you. Are you local to the area?

Yes, I live in the village with the horrible hill if that makes sense.

Weedsnseeds1 · 26/12/2017 18:58

Just conferred with OH, we can go and look Thursday if you let me have the name of the road. We'll take a cat carrier and some Dreamies, she's quite a distinctive cat, so hopefully no risk of accidentally kidnapping someone else's cat!
I can contact you on here if we have any luck.

Keep searching. My cat was missing for three months this year and is home safe and well now!

rainbowcakes · 26/12/2017 20:02

Have replied.

smashbake · 26/12/2017 20:37

He was about a mile away from home. Living feral til spotted. It was a miracle when he came home!

Winnerwinneryummydinner · 26/12/2017 20:52

I’ve seen your posts on social media. I’m a couple of towns away from you. So be assured that people are seeing your posts Smile hope she’s home soon.

AmethystRaven · 26/12/2017 21:15

I keep checking in hoping you've found her, I'm glad you've had a lead.

My DH always says wandering off or something happening while they're out is the drawback to the awesomeness of cats, and the important thing is to cherish the time you had together should something happen. Still plenty of time for her to turn up though - cat exploring holiday I'm hoping.

Wishing for a reunion soon.

rainbowcakes · 26/12/2017 22:11

@smashbake thats a lovely story! so glad he came back!

@Winnerwinneryummydinner Oh thats brilliant! Thanks for letting me know you've seen it you do wonder just how many people see/take notice of it, especially if you don't get any information!

@AmethystRaven thank you. DH and i were having a similar conversation earlier - we both said we've never taken having our kitties for granted because you never know when they might wander off! I do wish they were more loyal! Grin

Our young one vanished for a week and returned a little thinner but fine good luck x

rainbowcakes · 27/12/2017 21:52

Thank you @littlebillie, the positive stories are keeping me going Smile

I've purposely not looked at any pictures of her since she's been gone (apart from the ones I've shared) as its too painful, but just stumbled across one by accident and its made me wobble a bit SadSad thank you everyone for all of your kinds words x

@DancesWithOtters unfortunately not Sad@Weedsnseeds1 very kindly went out searching for her yesterday, didnt see her but spoke to a few people which I so appreciate Smile

A couple of minor updates - a lady commented on my FB post on Cats Protection - she says she saw an identical cat sat on a garage roof down the other end of the estate we live on. I went down this morning but no sign. I hadnt leafleted all of the houses down that way as I had ran out and only went back to work yesterday to print more, so I posted them through the rest of the houses down there.

I also leafleted another small estate opposite- another lady phoned me saying she had heard a cat meowing outside her house the last couple of mornings - if she hears it again, she will check what it looks like to see if its Polly.

So a couple more potential sightings but nothing concrete!

Keep on searching OP.

Weedsnseeds1 · 29/12/2017 22:09

Keep looking. OH will keep an eye out in the area when he's there for work.
I also think the industrial estate might be worth another go as there was only a couple of units open, but they'll all be back at work next week.
I did attract a grey and white cat in your road which clearly fancied some free Dreamies!

@Weedsnseeds1 i was thinking the same about the industrial estate. I did go to a couple of the places there on the friday but some of them had already shut for christmas. Ahhh i think i know the cat you mean...it didnt have a red collar with 'do not feed' written on it & a bell did it?? 😂 he always comes running when i call for Polly & he keeps trying to come into our house 😅

@DancesWithOtters thats a great idea. I'll keep going, cant give up on my baby girl ❤️

Yes it had a red collar, I may have given it a Country Hunter meaty snack as I just saw something on its collar and assumed it was an address or something.....ooops

thecatneuterer · 30/12/2017 10:54

Last New Year, just after all businesses had reopened, I was called to a tyre fitters/mechanics that had found a cat inside their premises when they reopened after a two week break! How it was still OK is mystery, although she was very thin and hungry. She was chipped and was reunited with her owners soon afterwards.

So it is certainly possible that she is shut in somewhere.

Weedsnseeds1 · 30/12/2017 11:27

My experience of industrial units is that the canteen will have been left like a bomb site with scraps and crumbs and overflowing bins and there's always a roof leak for water ( especially with the torrential rain we've had)!

I am crossing my fingers and toes for you OPThanks
